Really, I would say the two most important factors when setting up divisions would be to maintain the biggest yearly rivalries for revenue generation purposes and minimize travel costs. To cover the first part in the Big Ten, you keep IU-PU together, and you keep OSU-UM-MSU together (and, to a lesser extent, UI-NW). To cover the second part, you keep PSU with the teams close by, and the divisions work themselves out. An "eastern" division of IU-PU-PSU-OSU-UM-MSU, and a "Central/Western" division of NW-UI-IA-UW-NU-MN.

I'm not sure you necessarily trade by most value or most tradeable. I'd prefer they do deals based on perceived value vs. actual value. In this case, I think Byfuglien and Bolland have more perceived value than actual value. Versteeg perhaps as well. Niemi too if he's asking for 4 mil per.

Congrats? Except that Omaha doesn't really have a comp in western Iowa. Another advantage for Iowa. Omaha isn't a nice place outside of the CWS. okay Eastern Nebraska has Warren Buffet. Western Iowa has... ..all-you-can-eat corn buffet?

Also, after 25 goals in the first round robin (.78 goals per team), there have been 11 goals in the first 3 games of the second round robin, an average of 1.83 goals per team.

Even with the crap result, Nigeria is through with a win over South Korea and an Argentina victory over Greece.

Even with a loss here, they can still beat South Korea and advance.

Argentina looked fantastic today. All of a sudden, winning Group C becomes a big deal. Finish second in Group C, your path to the semis is Germany-Argentina. Win it, and your path is (at worst) Ghana-Uruguay.

I think you swap Cal-Stanford with Colorado-Utah and it works much better geographically.

Well, the first round robin is done with maybe 3-4 exciting games to watch. Should pick up quite a bit in the second round robin. I think Uruguay wins this group, and it starts with a win today.

I figured this would be one of the higher goal scoring games, just not that North Korea would score one of them. In related news, North Korea soccer fans are about to be treated to the last 3 minutes of a 1-0 North Korea victory.

Ugh, 3 points for Slovenia means they're really going to bunker down and play for a tie against the US. That will be boring to watch.

Not to continue the argument, but even if the England draw didn't technically increase advancement odds much, it likely increased the chances of winning the group significantly.

If it's incidental contact, it's not a foul. Like the "kicking the puck into the net" rule in the NHL. oh, the replay looked much more harmless than live action. Where on the arm does a handball start? It is a "direct kick foul" if a player (other than the goalkeeper inside his own penalty area) deliberately handles the ball (meaning to deliberately touch the ball with any part of the arm from the finger tips to the top of the shoulder). If the player handles it for the purpose of preventing an opponent from gaining possession, it is a "cautionable offense" and a yellow card should be given. If a player deliberately handles the ball to deny an obvious goal scoring opportunity (e.g., to prevent a breakaway or to deliberately stop a shot), a red card should be given and the player "sent off". However, a hand ball foul should not be called if: (1) a player is instinctively trying to protect himself from injury or (2) the player did not deliberately touch the ball but the ball hit his arm & he did not move the arm toward the ball (however, if the player's arms were in an unnatural position such as above his shoulders or sticking out to the sides, then he should be called for a handball).
