  1. Great low shot by Sharp. Even if Nabbie gets to it, there's a juicy rebound.
  2. I'm not sure how a deflection into the top right corner is a soft goal. Is no goal legit these days?
  3. I imagined they were all White Sox fans and enjoyed Hawk Harrelson.
  4. http://www.behindthenethockey.com/ As for the exact article where he says this: http://www.behindthenethockey.com/2010/5/10/1465873/chicago-blackhawks-corsi-by-score
  5. Actually, Niemi has been average by GVT, Huet was awful. EDIT: And one of the biggest stat guys in the NHL believes that the Hawks are by far the best team in the league. Via advanced statistics, they've played far worse than they did during the regular season, and still won the first two rounds, and if they ever wake up and play like they did prior to the Olympics, watch out (Note: Game 6 was a taste of that).
  6. I think I'm a Phoenix fan from here on out, actually (as it pertains to these playoffs).
  7. I don't know about you guys, but I've hated the Pirates since the mid-90s.
  8. If Hendry is worth anything, he's on the phone as we speak trying to see who else wants Silva.
  9. From another GM: "I think the Bulls are really going to go for it. Look for them to offer the Cavs Luol Deng in a sign-and-trade for LeBron. That will allow them to retain most of their cap space. Then they'll go after Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh as well."
  10. fixed I'm not saying it's not impressive to beat Detroit in 5 games, even if all 4 wins were by 1 goal. It just doesn't prove conclusively to me that they are playing great right now. Also, they definitely started to choke that series against Colorado. They didn't look particularly great in that series, falling behind 2-1 before winning their final 3 much like the Hawks, but I'd say Nashville was a stronger opponent than Colorado. Technically, didn't every first round Western Conference winner fall behind 2-1?
  11. Things that make me feel good about the upcoming Hawks-Sharks series: - During the regular season, the Hawks went 3-1 against the Sharks. In the lone loss, the Hawks outshot the Sharks 47-14 with Huet in net. - San Jose lost 6 times in regulation during the regular season. One was to the Hawks. They also lost the other home game to them in OT in the only of the 4 games it can't be said the Hawks dominated play. - In one of the games, San Jose had 6 power plays, and were a combined -3 in them in a game the Hawks won 7-2.
  12. I stand by my initial reaction of sell high.
  13. Thats why the Hawks better come to play this next series. Absolutely, the WC Finals is likely the Stanley Cup Finals this year. The Hawks have an incredible chance to win the Cup this year, they just need to survive this series against San Jose. Either the 6th or 7th seed vs. the 8th seed, its the Eastern Conference Finals! If Philly somehow did the unthinkable, how bizarre would it be for the 7th seed to have home ice in the Conference Finals? The alternative, of course, would be the 6 seed Bruins having home ice twice.
  14. Fun canuck stat: Vancouver had only lost 8 games in regulation at home all year going into the series, and none by more than 2 goals.
  15. Big Ten parity in baseball - every team right now is either 10-8, 9-9, or 8-10.
  16. Well, the team was built by Steve Kerr.
  17. So, which of the early entrant declares aren't going to get drafted? http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/story/13033792 I'm not sure Bledsoe gets drafted in the first round.
  18. We also didn't play them either. You, I, Soul, or Hawkeyecub would not be so lucky with expansion. Why would we have to play them every year? Balance of power after the required IU-PU split.
  19. No offense, bukie, but that's a horrendous trade for you. In hindsight, I should've asked for a higher pick, probably, but I also had roster issues to deal with soon, so I wanted to get something done quickly. A generally top 10-15 OF and a top 5-10 pitcher for a third round pick, a mid-level prospect and a good but-not-outstanding-pitching prospect? I wish you had shopped around a bit more. I may be leaning towards selling, but I would have paid that for Haren alone, most likely. TBH, I have some concerns about Haren and Bay this year. If I'm wrong, of course, and they are lights out like they were last year, I did terrible. I had my OFs and SPs on the block for 3 weeks now, and was also a bit impatient because I was soon losing minor league eligibility on a couple guys who have been lights out this year. The more I think about it, the less I like it.

  21. D-Block trades 3rd round pick to Saber Metrics in the Haren/Bay trade.

    Week 5

Oh well, normally 327.5 would be good enough.
  23. LOL at the Vancouver arena playing "The Final Countdown" shortly after the 6th goal.
  24. A fan charting of scoring chances in game 3: http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/351686/Chi-Van_Game_3_Part_1.jpg From that, it looks kind of half and half. From the 8:38 mark of the second period through the end of the game, the Hawks were dominating the chances. Before that, though, the Canucks were really dominating chances.
