  1. I'd say both games 2 and 3 the Hawks were outplayed the first 20 minutes, and outplayed Vancouver for the last 40. Game 1 was the opposite.
  2. Well, it won't be Canucks in 4 or 5, at least.
  3. At least Castro is going to have plenty of time to establish himself, because if there's one thing Lou is, it's patient.

    Week 5

Garrett Jones in for Johnny Damon due to injury. Also, if anyone wants one my injured guys, save Montero, make me an offer.
  5. I dunno. I'm worried about where we'll end up. Not a lot of people clamoring for the Kansas market. I'm sure they'll slide into a reformed Mountain West conference nicely.
  6. I don't know about anybody else, but I yearn for the good times of 2003 at this point.
  7. Indeed, if they don't win one in Vancouver, they'll lose in 6.

    Week 5

I have some bad pitching match-ups this week. Don't like either of Garcia or Penny in Philly, but only 7 starts to choose from.
  9. Dwight Howard got 3 first place votes, actually. Kobe got zero.
  10. So a really unlucky pitcher against a really lucky pitcher. Sounds like a recipe for success.
  11. The current OPS's for each of Soriano, Fukudome, Colvin and Byrd are pretty outstanding for this month, actually. If only the first and third basemen could provide some offense soon.

    Week 4

Well, the way I see it, as long as he gives positive points, it was worth it. So if you don't think he'll have back to back disaster starts it'll be fine.
  13. the trip was caused by the high stick though. Ehh, looked like the other way around to me. Trip first, followed by SJ player flailing like he was shot, causing the high stick.
  14. From my point of view late in the second, the first was a trip (but sold well), the second was a dive and should have been called as such.
  15. If Rose can be "the guy", it will work out better. I just take Rose as a better complementary player than an alpha dog, and I don't really see Bosh as an alpha dog either. I'm giddy at the possibility of Rose and Noah being the second and third options on a team.
  16. Whatever happens this offseason, here's what I do NOT want to see: - Joe Johnson with a max contract - David Lee as one of the big FA signings Best case scenario, LeBron or Wade comes to Chicago. Second best case, Bosh + a 3 point shooter come to Chicago.
  17. It's so strange that a flyball pitcher like Lilly is giving up HRs on a day like today.
  18. Bill Simmons decided to write an article on the NBA playoffs "power rankings" so far. I liked the blurb about Noah and Rose:
  19. i think you're underestimating the pens. I'm pretty sure the Pens will steamroll the rest of the East at this point. I'm just saying, who is the "weakest" team left in the West? San Jose, perhaps? I might take the Pens over SJ, but by that point SJ will have beaten Detroit and Chi/Van, and finished with the second best record in the NHL. Detroit is finally healthy, Vancouver and Chicago have both been fantastic all year too.
  20. He was a top prospect in their system, but now he's coming off TJ surgery. Apparently TJ surgery and Dave Duncan is the cure for any young Cardinal pitcher. He doesn't have much of a K-rate, though to this point, but nobody's made good contact off him.
  21. I'd actually take Lou in the dugout before any of the 3 prior managers the Cubs had. Riggleman, though, I'd rather see in the dugout than Lou.
  22. At this point I think I'd take anybody in the west over anybody in the east.
  23. After 19 major league games, he finally played in a game tonight and didn't strike out. That's a major league record. Of course, he's still doing fantastic.
  24. the red wings are the best team in the west only if you've been living in a cave for a year. jimmy howard is average at best. their top defense pairing is a combined 76 years old and neither guy is as good as he once was. their third D pairing is pretty weak, cleary and bertizzi on a second line isn't going to scare anyone and their third and fourth lines are pretty meh. they're a good team but the sharks, wings and canucks are more talented IMO. (as well as the pens and caps) Maybe he's saying the Wings beat themselves.
  25. Yes, but that doesn't include a hit with a man on 2nd that does not score. I have witnessed that plenty of times this year. According to baseball-reference.com, the Cubs have four players who are above league average in runners that score during a player's at bats. Player RS% Opp Kosuke Fukudome 22% 37 Marlon Byrd 22% 55 Carlos Silva 20% 10 Ryan Theriot 19% 53 Alfonso Soriano 15% 34 League Average 15% -- As you might expect, ARam and Lee lead the team with the most opportunities, but come in at 13% and 11% respectively. I guess a lot of this team's struggles arise from DLee and Aramis struggling badly at times, or just all the time for Ramirez. Which says what we already know. Of the 8 regulars, Lee and Ramirez are struggling the most. All the time, not just with RISP. EDIT: Also, hitting with RISP does include hits with a man on second. That's pretty much the textbook definition of hitting with RISP.
