  1. I'd propose a slight modification to that idea, Bob: The player must remain on a team's major league roster for that year. If, at the end of that year, the player is still minor league eligible, they can go back onto the minor league roster for that team for keeper purposes. If an international FA doesn't get drafted in the major league draft, they are eligible for the minor league draft.
  2. did you stop following this after reading the dave van dyck story? Call it wishful thinking.
  3. From Japan: Norichika Aoki, LF - 30, Milwaukee Wei-Yin Chen, SP - 26, Baltimore Yu Darvish, SP - 25, Texas Hisashi Iwakuma, SP - 30, Seattle Tsuyoshi Wada, SP - 31, Baltimore Cuba is a little trickier, since they're not recorded together at all, but... Yoenis Cespedes, OF - 26, Oakland Gerardo Concepcion, SP - 19, Chicago Cubs Jorge Soler, OF - 19, Chicago Cubs
  4. When is the draft going to start? I'm actually going to be in FL all next week for vacation (now, this was planned out a lot farther in advance than being in the league this year...), and am probably going to have limited internet access. From what I gather, I have the 10th pick in the first round, and if the draft starts, say, on March 1, it'd likely get to me at least once or twice before I get back. I can text/pm my selections to someone drafting after me ahead of time if I have to, though, because I don't want to be the guy holding up the league this year. :P
  5. Also, Wei-Yin Chen of the Orioles, just to keep in mind.
  6. agreed. anyone have a problem with just stating darvish and cespedes are eligible for the major league draft? and they can be put in your minors if they, for some reason, don't break camp with the team? Fine with me, I just didn't want to end up missing anyone that I may not have heard of that got signed elsewhere in the offseason.
  7. I vote all international FAs are eligible for the major league draft, but there are complications: 1) What happens if an international FA doesn't sign with a team until after the draft starts (the Soler rule)? Does he become a free-for-all on waivers when his record gets created? 2) What happens if an international FA doesn't get drafted in the major league draft, but is eligible for the minors (Concepcion)? Waivers or minor league draft? 3) If an international FA is drafted in the major league draft and doesn't make his big league club, is he eligible for the minor league roster (Cespedes)?
  8. Kevin, pm me with the email address you want to use. And what you want for your first round pick. :) Oh geeez #-o He balked at my offer.
  9. Ok, I'm in now. My team name is now Theocracy. I'll see if it still doesn't sound stupid tomorrow.
  10. jesus christ He is the one the prophet Elijah foretold.
  11. I'm in, then. So...let me in? :) I assume the team is legal, so there's not much I have to do until the draft anyway.
  12. After that first half, Jeremy Lin now has more turnovers on the season than Derrick Rose.
  13. According to my calculated projection aggregate (based on reading the keeper names in this thread), the top 31 and 44 of the top 48 projected players are kept. EDIT: Also, Ryan Braun just won his appeal, so keeping him looks as if it'll pay off.
  14. The Lakers' biggest need is at PG, and with CJ playing as well as he has thus far, it actually makes a lot of sense to unload him. Especially if that ridiculous CJ+Booz for Gasol trade has any merit whatsoever. I'm sure the Lakers are going to look into better options, like Ellis or Williams, though.
  15. ...wait, what? Count me in on that trade.
  16. A team full of mediocre corner OFs is the new Moneyball.
  17. I'm willing to take it if nobody minds. Don't want to step on anybody's toes here. I have a few things to do offline and really need to settle down from terrible news at work for a bit, so I'm not going to be on much tonight until late.
  18. Can't judge by this game, though, since Boston's missing their best player.
  19. Was there ever a more high volume shooter that made fewer shots than Antoine Walker? I mean, dude shot 39% for the season.
  20. Yeah, if I remember correctly, Carpenter had been agreed on months ago, and Lucchino pitched a fit and demanded more.
  21. Nice to get a 4-game winning streak against 3 of the 4 best records in the NHL.
  22. If the Bulls were deepest at the 3, Deng wouldn't be playing 42 minutes a game.
  23. Ryne is the guy on the right. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/80/Luolz.jpg
  24. I really don't think that giving up a player whose top-end projection is above-average middle reliever makes this a loss for the Cubs.
  25. Really? Butler too?? I don't know, though, I'd much prefer a Boozer-Butler package...
