  1. US looking good for the bye to the quarters even if they lose to Russia right now. Overall standings: 1. US (+6) 2. Finland (+4) 3. Sweden (+2, 1st) 4. Russia (+3, 2nd) 5. Canada (+2, 2nd) 6. Switzerland (+1) 7. Latvia (-1) 8. Norway (-2, 3rd) 9. Slovenia (-3, 3rd) 10. Czech Republic (-2, 4th) 11. Austria (-4) 12. Slovakia (-6) I'd expect Latvia, Slovenia, and Austria to bring up the rear when things get all sorted out, and the top 3 spots will go to group winners, so the 2nd place team with the best differential will end up with the 4 spot.
  2. I'm fairly certain Brey is full of [expletive] considering the semester is 3-4 weeks old and Jackson wasn't even plain clothes on the bench and the game was at the JAC Yeah, internet speculation was that he was leaving ND. "Not registered for classes this semester" sounds like an academic issue.
  3. It's February 12th, and Syracuse has played 5 road games, the toughest of which was @St. John's. The others were @Virginia Tech, @BC, @Miami, and @Wake Forest. They've played the 80th toughest schedule in the nation.
  4. pitching stats: IP, W, L, SV, Holds hitting stats: AVG, Ks, GIDP, SB, E
  5. I-Pod did a YOLO on the halfpipe...
  6. Is Montero minor league eligible? Doesn't he have something like 700 major league PAs?
  7. No. I have a hard time seeing Melo and Thibs being a good fit for each other.
  8. No, it reminds us how abysmal the Cubs' systemic development of hitters was.
  9. Took a look at my team, and it looks like I'll be set up as such: 1B Hosmer - exempt 2B Dozier - exempt SS Reyes - 275.25 OF Bruce - 507.75 OF Ellsbury - 453.00 SP Cobb - exempt SP Quintana - exempt SP Locke - exempt RP Jansen - exempt SP Holland (548) or SP Bailey (562.5) Total: 1784 (w/Holland) or 1798.5 (w/Bailey) I'll listen to offers for either Holland or Bailey, but keep in mind Holland is out until June at least.
  10. Gah, I need to pay and look at my roster. I've been really meh to baseball the past 6-8 months.
  11. Didn't know the Packers needed recruiting help.
  12. Footage from the 1937 European basketball championship: https://t.co/a7qjzV7Ncg Harkening back to the days where players had fundamentals.
  13. I don't think Vitters is as much of a non-prospect as Law does, but I am skeptical about his AAA numbers being over just 100 PA. What is the success rate of high school draftees who spend 6 years in the minor league system?
  14. Vizcaino, Black and Zastryzny. Scott Frazier is probably a choice for me before some of the names already on the list, but doesn't have to be on there quite yet, IMO.
  15. To see how badly Manning played last night and know that Rex's performance was significantly worse than that is nauseating. I remember when the Bears led that game 7-0 and had the ball at midfield before the offense ever saw the field. That was the last good feeling I had about the game.
  16. Basically, they've lost 10 of the last 11 coin flips.
  17. Is it safe to say he has the lowest floor out of our top 10? Uhh...no?
  18. Northwestern is now alone in 4th in the Big Ten, just as everyone predicted.
  19. Their remaining away slate is going to make that difficult. Man City, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man U. Also, despite now being all the way in 11th position, they're still just 2 points clear of relegation.

  21. No mention of him either in yesterday's chat or his Twitter feed of late.
  22. He basically said in his chat yesterday that until Vogelbach shows more power results, he's a non-starter as a prospect since his value is solely in his hitting. As for Olt, either his vision problems are fixed and he's in the majors or they're not and his career is over.
  23. Law's Cubs top 14 (he lists the top 10 and the next 4): 1. Baez 2. Bryant 3. Soler 4. Almora 5. Edwards 6. Alcantara 7. Johnson 8. Candelario 9. Corey Black 10. Vizcaino 11. Zastryzny 12. Eloy Jimenez 13. Scott Frazier 14. Tyler Skulina
