  1. I think Rany Jazayerli is going to hurt someone in the Royals FO.
  2. According to Sullivan, the trade was Kottaras for cash.
  3. No reason not to always look to maximize value in all spots. At some point, though, present value needs to be a factor just as much as projected future value.
  4. Of course, the other side of the extreme would be giving everyone that doesn't make the playoffs the same lottery odds, and then you'd see a different kind of tanking (like what's going on in the Atlantic division so far).
  5. In basketball it makes a lot more sense to tank. Exactly. The original idea behind the lottery was to "fix" this, wasn't it? If so, I'd say it didn't work. That is because every time some team wins the lottery with bad odds, they continue to make the odds worse for the less bad teams and better for the bad teams to combat it. It's counter-intuitive.
  6. The official tweet from Gammons is @pgammo nvarotwnsblajysmirlns
  7. Illinois at UNLV tonight, in a game that looked a lot more imposing two weeks ago. UNLV is probably around Valpo good, though, and Illinois didn't exactly put them away easily at home.
  8. Actually Tennessee wins the tiebreaker for now.
  9. They'll still win the division by 2 or 3 games because of how irredeemably terrible the other 3 teams in that division are. The Jaguars aren't even in last place in that division now.
  10. Yep, smart fans never expect a win until two years from whatever day it currently is. When you finish building your army of straw men, mind trying to have some conversations with adults?
  11. The Vikings offense hopefully quickly reminding everyone of what a terrible offense looks like, and why the Bears' O is nothing resembling a terrible offense.
  12. That's one casually racist thing to say.
  13. I mean, when Sulley is one of the more level-headed voices in a thread, it's time for people to take a step back and just re-evaluate their thoughts. why you always gotta zing me? BECAUSE YOU ARE ALWAYS THERE.
  14. I root for turkey. EDIT: Serious note, if the Packers lose today and win Thursday, it puts divisional tiebreakers back in the Bears' favor
  15. Bostic is making occasional plays, but is reacting late to the TE and is getting blocked off runs since the interior line does nothing.

  17. Defense up the middle is basically down to walk-ons and bad safeties. The Bears' gap defense is predicated on a full set of personnel to cover every gap, and they don't have that personnel. This is why Lovie's defense is always so awful when starters go down.
  18. They should probably work on not spotting teams two scores in the opening 3 minutes of the game.
  19. They're on DT #8, LB #6 and the safeties are awful. It's been blowing up since week 1.
  20. disagree, again my decision is based on the decisions the bears have made this year and their inability to score from 1 yard out for the last decade or so, but several times this year. I understand the numbers favor going for it, and normally I am pretty aggressive about going for it there. And you still never take the FG there. Disagree all you like, but the FG is the wrong call. It's a coach's "get out of jail free" call, but it's the wrong call in 99.99% of situations. i know you are a numbers guy and i know what the numbers say, i still think in that situation you kick a FG. I probably look dumb for being so adamant about it but I am going to have a hard time changing my mind there, as illogical as it may sound to you. If you kick the FG there, then maybe the Rams don't go for two there. That is the upside you get there.
  21. Hester looking to set a new standard for bad kick returns today.
  22. I guess when goony goes idiot, he has to go full idiot.

  24. Of all the things to bitch about w/ Trestman this game, that 4th down is way, way low on the list. The playcalling at the goal line is a bigger issue than going for it on 4th down when your defense blows.. right, the fact that Trestman has repeatedly made poor play calls in those situations makes the decision for me. You kick the FG and take the points again ive agreed with every other 4th down decision the Bears made this year until that one No, you don't take the FG there. You never take the FG there.
