  1. http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/penalties-per-game Stuck your fingers deeper into those ears By ignoring the actual stats, you do exactly that, yes.
  2. Just start scooping the meatballs out of your head now, and it might be clear by the end of the season.
  3. I don't know what to be about the first B1G win in 2 years being a 4 point squeaker at a historically bad Purdue team that still included 4 turnovers and the defense allowing PU's longest play from scrimmage this season.
  4. 3 play TD drive for Purdue to start the game. Sounds about right.
  5. Atlanta just went from a slightly above average team with insane schedule and close-game luck to a slightly below average team with bad schedule and close-game luck.
  6. If the Nets or Knicks don't rebound, I would say this regular season is pretty meaningful. Getting that #1 seed is important so you only have to face one of the Big 3 in the playoffs rather than two. Sure, but they just won 5 in a row. They lost last night largely because Deng was wretched; it happens. Plus they are short a starting 2 guard, so it's laughable to take a close loss in a tough location without the full team and project it to playoff susceptibility. But then again he didn't post at all during the Bulls recent win streak, so maybe there is a good reason to root for the Bulls to win during the regular season.
  7. As is, all I want for the USMNT: - No CONMEBOL team in the group stage - No Netherlands/Italy in the group stage - No Spain/Germany in the group stage if possible Which leave a group with Belgium/Switzerland, a CAF team, and a decent Euro team.
  8. The USMNT is basically automatically in the group of death unless the rest of their group is terrible, because the rest of their selection pool is the entire bottom of the ratings.
  9. Tune in Saturday. Whoever wins, we lose.
  10. Just wait until Illinois football regains their championship form... ...although I'd be content with simply winning one league game right now.
  11. Northwestern won at UIC by 40 last night. Illinois gets a revenge match against UIC at the UC in a couple weeks...odds on it being a game at the end...still high.
  12. Pot 1: Brazil, Spain, Germany, Argentina, Columbia, Belgium, Uruguay, Switzerland Pot 2: USA, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Iran, South Korea, Japan, Australia Pot 3: Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, Algeria, Chile, Ecuador, France Pot 4: Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Bosnia, England, Greece, Croatia, Portugal Opens the door for a potential Spain-USA-Chile-Netherlands/Italy nightmare group, thanks to the insistence on potting strictly by association. If they did things more like the CL draw, or even the NCAA tourney S-curve, even giving the host nation top seed, it'd look more like... Rank Host. Brazil 1. Spain 2. Germany 3. Argentina 4. Colombia 5. Belgium 6. Uruguay 7. Switzerland 8. Netherlands 9. Italy 10. England 12. Chile 13. USA 14. Portugal 15. Greece 16. Bosnia-Herzegovina 17. Ivory Coast 18. Croatia 19. Russia 21. Cameroon Straight S-curve groups, sliding teams up/down a spot only for association rules: Group A: Brazil, Bosnia, Croatia, Cameroon Group B: Spain, Greece, Ivory Coast, Australia Group C: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, South Korea Group D: Argentina, USA, Russia, Iran Group E: Colombia, England, France, Japan Group F: Belgium, Chile, Ghana, Honduras Group G: Uruguay, Italy, Mexico, Nigeria Group H: Switzerland, Netherlands, Costa Rica, Algeria
  13. Jennings took a knee to the chest on that play from the receiver.
  14. That seems...high...for a 34 year old catcher coming off a sub-par offensive year where he missed half the season.
  15. Suppose I could have just straight posted the S-curve, but I think the bracket form makes it more readable. IU's takeaway from it at this point is they're projecting into an 8-9 game at this point (along with Illinois), and are around the class of Baylor, Cal, ASU, Stanford, BYU and Cincy.
  16. There's a decent contingent of Bears fans who think he's Cade McNown.
  17. Way-too-early bracket, based on today's Pomeroy data. Straight rating data, ignoring matchup rules (since it's a pointless exercise anyway except for getting an idea of where teams are projected to end up in March, which Pomeroy's data is projecting). 18. The NIT championship was underachieving for the talent that team had, but I imagine it would be nice to have a football team that scores 60 points a game. Seriously [expletive] this guy. I'm not even sure what he's trolling here besides logic, reason, and basic addition. I was making fun of the fact you thought Iowa won the NIT. Iowa not actually winning the NIT was part of the joke. Serves me right for assuming you could pick up on some basic sarcasm as well.

  20. No chance Illinois loses at Mackey this year, though.
  21. It is kind of amazing what an NIT championship will do for a fan's confidence.
  22. When did Rider change their team nickname to the "refs"?
  23. Illinois easily takes the Global Sports Invitational (I had no idea this was even a thing).
  24. And just like that, the Bears are tied for first again. Sulley, you miserable fullback.
  25. I really doubt they throw the ball again this series.
