  1. Bradley is probably the best player on the team, and he's borderline top 50 internationally. Keep in mind there are a lot of teams and a lot of players on each team.
  2. US wins 2-1, goals by Davis and Gonzalez.
  3. Yep, should be fun. At least a lot more fun than the other quarter decided: Netherlands-Mexico and Costa Rica-Greece.
  4. Man this group is hot garbage.
  5. If I had to rate the teams coming into the knockout phase through this point, I'm thinking 1. Netherlands 2. France 3. Brazil 4. Germany 5. Colombia 6. Argentina 7. Chile 8. Belgium 9. G2 (USA) 10. Costa Rica 11. Mexico 12. Uruguay 13. Switzerland (E2) 14. Russia (H2) 15. Nigeria (F2) 16. Ivory Coast (C2)
  6. Aaaand it's tied.
  7. That said, Ivory Coast has been pretty clearly the worst team in the group. Outplayed all 3 games, but caught Japan in some kind of weird Drogba fear for about 10 minutes and stole 3 points.
  8. Figures that in the most exciting world cup in my memory, the most boring team in the entire field can somehow advance.
  9. At least the goal forces Italy to actually try to play a few moments of soccer today.
  10. Just knock both these teams out, and let the Portugal/Ghana winner into the knockout round instead.
  11. I thought this was a soccer game, not an olympic diving competition.
  12. What is HR? I'm guessing he's going with Herzegovina instead of Bosnia that they're referring to them as on ESPN. Except that's neither Bosnia nor Herzegovina.
  13. Netherlands could potentially have a Mexico-Costa Rica path to the semis.
  14. Germany gets first in the group with a draw. Right, but the US isn't going to lay down, and Germany would rather win than lose.
  15. Yeah, this is exactly why people saying a Ghana-Germany draw was the US's best result was wrong. They were right if there were only 4 minutes of injury time. If there were only four minutes injury time, it didn't really matter because the US was advancing no matter what, unless we're talking about Ghana beating Germany. A Ghana/Germany draw was only a better result if the US beats Portugal, as it gave them a better chance to win the group.
  16. Yeah, this is exactly why people saying a Ghana-Germany draw was the US's best result was wrong. They were right if there were only 4 minutes of injury time.
  17. Draw is a better result if Ghana loses to Germany yesterday.
  18. When was the last time both teams had this much to gain from a 0-0 draw?
  19. Can't believe that Ronaldo hit one good ball all day, and it was a pass.
  20. Yeah still a very good not quite great chance. There are many scenarios that get us through, not as many that eliminate us Basically, the only situation that eliminates the US is a blowout loss plus a Ghana win. Do you consider losing by 2 goals a blowout loss? Because that and any Ghana win would knock us put I believe. Yes, a 2 goal loss is blowout enough.
  21. Chances of winning the group understandably down from 20% to 14.8%.
  22. I'm pretty sure nobody will claim Whiteside, and he's probably the kind of guy that would be willing to go back to Iowa.
  23. How far has US Soccer come when a draw against Portugal is disappointing.
