He didn't deserve to have his life ruined for trying to field a baseball in 2003, but you didn't get to decide that either. This is a mostly private way for the Cubs to make a restitution, and it didn't prevent the team from any baseball operations. It's a marketing move, and though it's a weird thing to do, it's been a weird thing for 15 years, so it's a form of closure for everyone involved.

EDIT: Forgot that FIFA stripped the Confederations Cup from Qatar, because playing soccer in Qatar is stupid. The next confederations cup will be in TBA Asian country, hopefully some place like Japan or Australia.

None of the USMNT European players were involved with the Gold Cup, so they could train and prep for the beginning of their club seasons. That includes Yedlin, Brooks, Cameron, Fab, Pulisic, Wood and Chandler. I think Lichaj was the only Euro player called in, specifically to evaluate his potential going forward.

I feel like 75% of the hand-wringing in game threads would be alleviated if everyone understood that pitchers allow hits and runs on occasion, even in tight situations. Except Wade Davis.

Well, the officiating was the worst I can remember, the El Sal team was shameless, the back line was suspect, the passing was off, the finishing was non existent, and it was still 2-0 at the end of the day.
