  1. He knows nothing but the eternal shame of Cub fandom.
  2. So the streak ended. I wasn't really paying close attention to today's game since my wife had a baby today, so I decided I get to start the next game thread because reasons. The magic number still went down because other teams can also lose. Now the Cubs head to Wrigley North to take the wind out of the sails of the Brewers and their magic pitching. First up, your major league wins leader (no, really), Zack Davies. The Cubs counter with a god among men, Jake Arrieta, last seen giving free hope to the Pirates at a time where they needed it the most, the good man that he is. Some may be prone to panic now that the Cubs lost a game and the Brewers and Cardinals still haven't gone away yet. To those people, I say take a seat, relax, and
  3. But his pitch count was only 80! Such a low number brings shame to the franchise, and offends me personally.
  4. In how many consecutive games have you talked yourself into suggesting that the Cubs are going with their worst option at starter?
  5. This will be the unexpectedly fluke win to keep Glennon in there until the bye week, and make ownership think the team is closer than it really is.
  6. The Cardinals can take solace in that aingle good inning they had at Wrigley this season.
  7. But there was a week where his batting average was .170! Such a number brimgs shame to the franchise, and offends me personally.
  8. Kris Bryant is quietly creeping up the NL fWAR leaderboard, now 5th in the NL coming into today at 6.0 fWAR, behind Rendon (6.3), Blackmon (6.2), Stanton (6.1) and Votto (6.1).
  9. I'm not sure how you see the 3 starters coming up as the bottom 3, considering how Lester has looked since coming off the DL and Arrieta is on the DL and Tseng wasn't exactly sharp tonight. You could argue Montgomery over Lackey, but I don't see how it's disappointing that Hendricks and Quintana are pitching.
  10. The Indians have gained 16 games on the Dodgers in 3 weeks.
  11. Starting to think the Dodgers may not win 110 this year.
  12. After all the complaining, a Lackey no no would be kind of hilarious.
  13. Three American women in the semifinals of the US Open (Venus Williams, Sloane Stephens, Coco Vandeweghe), and a 4th playing now that is the favorite to win her quarter (Madison Keys). Could be the first all-American semifinal since 2004, even more impressive since Serena Williams isn't one of them.
  14. The base assumption that the better players will keep playing football is a faulty one, particularly around this area. Also, you said yourself that football is an expensive sport to sponsor and run, so theoretically as more and more players are encouraged to play less expensive sports (and far safer...), it'd stand to reason that more and more high schools would focus more on other sports.
  15. Dbacks win 13-0, Rich Hill somehow still gets a QS.
  16. [tweet] [/tweet]
  17. Dusty gonna Dusty.
  18. Cubs postseason odds are now the highest they've been all year at 98.4%, surpassing April 14's 97.8%.
  19. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2017&month=0&season1=2000&ind=1&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=54689&players=0&sort=22,a haha wow. awesome. thanks. and the worst .400 obp season by fWAR would be nick johnson's 2009...1.6 fWAR in 133 g with a .426 obp Looking just at offensive production: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2017&month=0&season1=2000&ind=1&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=54689&players=0&sort=17,a
  20. Don't think I've ever been so disappointed in the USMNT before.
  21. is that all? seriously tho, let's go horsefeathers 21-7 against these horsefeathers ass teams and get to 95. just out of curiosity, what was the ridiculous run the 2015 team went on over the past few weeks to actually get to 97? i remember it being pretty ridiculous (and i'm too busy righ tnow to do more than ask about it here) Cubs went 23-9 after Sept 1 that year. They were 74-56 heading into September. If you mean the overall second half run, the Cubs were 52-47 on July 28, and finished on a 45-18 run to end the year.
  22. Get rid of helmets. Seriously. Play with rugby-style padding, and they'd learn quickly that an improper tackle is bad news for everyone involved. Still a lot of contact, but full-on head-first bone-crunching tackles would be a thing of the past almost immediately.
  23. The posting history is documented proof of the dangers of tackle football. No further comment necessary.
