Dang, Duke nearly upsets Miami, but falls short 20-15. NIU is leading Temple only 19-0 at half. They've keyed in on Wolfe and have limited him to 34 yards, but Horvath is finally having a good game as he is taking advantage of 8 and 9 in the box. 16/25, 217 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT's. I know it's against Temple, but it's about time he's having a game like this.

Speaking of Ball St, a friend of mine who goes to NIU came across this article last night: http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061020/SPORTS/610200466/-1/ZONES04 I thought the NCAA got rid of the 15K attendance policy, but I guess that's not the case. Not only does Ball St. seem to be in trouble, but about half of the conference (I think something like 3/4's of the conference this year) can't draw 15K to a game. The only teams that can easily outdraw 15K a game are NIU and Toledo. Central Michigan, the best team in the MAC West, only had 11K at their game against Bowling Green a few nights ago. The whole conference is basically screwed if the NCAA enforces this policy. And that is a load of crap because we have had really crappy weather at 2 of the BSU home games which diminished attendane. And what's Eastern Michigan supposed to do about the fact that Michigan Stadium is EIGHT MILES UP THE SAME ROAD? That attendance policy is absolute BS. Yeah I agree about the attendance policy. I could have SWORN that the NCAA got rid of the attendance policy around two years ago for I-A teams. I really don't understand how the NCAA can enforce this rule because of all the MAC teams that are averaging under 15K a game.

Consistantly inconsistant. That is going to be our motto the whole season. We just don't know how to play a full 60 minutes. This isn't the first time this has happened where the opposing team scores 2 or 3 goals in a very short amount of time. This is probably the 3rd game this season where this has happened. It's like our defense just quits for about 5 minutes and allows the team to get back into the game. Just an awful final 6 minutes tonight. Good news about Havlat that he flew home with the team as well as having his X-rays negative. He was carried off on a stretcher, but that sounds extremely precautionary. I'm not expecting him to play tomorrow, but let's hope that everything is ok with him and that it's just a sprain and nothing broken.

I hate the Tigers too, but I'll definitely be rooting for them in the Series. I absolutely HATE the Cardinals :x

Holy crap, we beat the Spurs by 32!!! And we held the Spurs to only 8 points in the 3rd quarter! I know it's preseason, but wow. Anytime you can beat a team like the quality of the Spurs by that much and hold them to only 67 points is sensational.

well, is there really a good walk for the Mets? Even an intentional walk is not a good walk. Great all around broadcasting right there. That little chat between Buck and McIdiot happened after Maine walked Molina in front of Carpenter with 2 outs. Does McIdiot really have to tell us that the walk was "good" for the Cardinals? Either way, I'm loving this game right now. Game 7 should be interesting tomorrow night...

I'll gladly trade. The one thing I liked about being in the Chicago market was that they ALWAYS get the Packers game whenever the Bears are playing at a different time (or not playing at all in this case). This sucks :x Looks like BWW it is.

Eyre was mediocre last year. Keeping him for insurance purposes when you can call up Novoa to strike out a bunch of guys and put up a 1.5 WHIP doesn't make sense. You writing that makes me wonder what Lou thinks about off/in season training and the injury bug that hit the Cubs. Maybe he won't let them have their little country club house. This guy doesn't sound very enthused: Interesting, thanks for posting that goony. Eyre is a guy that needs to keep in shape better. I wonder who he is talking about that won't like this "in your face" tactic? He's basically talking about himself. I know that he hates exercise. Like someone posted on another thread, I remember when he said that he liked Baker because, "He doesn't make us run laps at all." He's a guy that won't fit under Piniella's personality, and personally, I think that's a good thing. I'd like to see if we can move Eyre in the next couple of months.

Yay, I actually thought we'd win this week, but we'll be lucky to win two more games now this season. What a joke. Our 3rd receiver is going to be some practice squad player that no one has ever heard of. And Thompson completely missed the boat on trading for Jerry Porter. What an idiot.

I listened to it online. Lapointe had 2 goals. The Hawks ran out to a 3-0 lead, but the Avs (just like every other team this year) came back on the Hawks and tied it at 3, early in the 3rd period. Thankfully Lapointe scored later in the 3rd and we were able to win. Like I said after the Blues game, I think we'll be consistanly inconsistant this year. We played a great 1st period, a below average 2nd period, and an ok 3rd period. There needs to be a way for Yawney to get these guys to play 60 hard minutes every game.
