  1. Hopefully they can get healthy. Thankfully we have the Bills next week and I hope there is no letdown. Sounds like Grant's probably going to end up missing the game against Buffalo because of the sprained ankle. Hopefully he won't end up missing too much time. Harrell probably has a torn ACL and Jenkins suffered a broken hand, although he'll play through it. It definitely could've been worse. All we had to do was look at the other sideline to see that. Just fortunate we won yesterday. I don't care how ugly it looked at the end. It's pretty hard to gameplan for a pocket passer and then have a completely different style QB simply come into the game full time. I've seen that sort of thing happen before. Absolutely. I think if we had a full week to prepare for Vick, we would've done a better job of handling him. That said, I still think the Eagles should start Vick over Kolb. The concussion that Kolb suffered should be enough evidence by itself to have Vick take over this week.
  2. Four FCS upsets today. James Madison, South Dakota and Gardner-Webb also won. On a related note, pretty good day for the Great West. South Dakota beat Minnesota, Cal Poly beat FCS No. 1 Montana and Southern Utah killed San Diego. Also, North Dakota nearly beat Northern Illinois. Only UCD laid an egg. We certainly laid one too.

  4. Because if we know anything, it's that Sam Smith is a credible source! FWIW, I'm still not putting too much into this, it just seems like it's too good to be true. Plus the next big trade that John Paxson makes will be his first.
  5. Hopefully we see a lot more of this from every team that plays Minnesota this year. I'm really looking forward to the game tonight. I know what a novel idea by Williams and Payton. Hit the quarterback a lot and try to get pressure on him all game. It's amazing no one in football thought of this before last January. It certainly seemed like nobody thought about it until the last game that they played in last year. Speaking on our behalf, we didn't blitz Minnesota as much as we blitzed other teams in the league (for whatever reason). I know the Vikings have a real good pass blocking unit, but it sure seemed like all the Saints did in that game was rush at least an extra guy and mess with Favre. Don't worry. If you put enough trust into Favre, he's bound to let you down again. He has during the last three seasons. What's a fourth?
  6. He turned the deal down.
  7. Yeah, there's no chance he re-signs with them after this year.

  9. I'm impressed that the NFL can get that many people to watch the Pro Bowl. These people will watch anything. Wasn't that Vikings-Bears game essentially meaningless too? I'm shocked that the Favre Bowl had a lower number than the [expletive] Pro Bowl.
  10. Danilo Gallinari is God-incarnate come to Earth to reign fiery rage on the hapless NBA. Eddy Curry is still alive?
  11. Right. It's still not that great of a contract, but it certainly looks better now than it did at the beginning of this offseason. I know we're not going to swing a deal with Carmelo if they want Noah. I'd like to be wrong, but I just can't see GarPax giving up Noah.
  12. Seriously. Especially because baseball spring training is about 7 weeks long, and football training camp is about the same. It's weird to see training camps wrapped up in 3-4 weeks. If only the other two sports were like that.
  13. I absolutely love some of the conference proposals.
  14. I'm assuming we'll lose anywhere from 14-21 points. I just hope we keep it a game into the second half. And stop the NASCAR hate...although I agree it's pretty moronic to have a race on ABC in the middle of the college football season. It's even more asinine to have a race on ABC when all of the remaining races left are on ESPN. But that's the leader for you.
  15. Champaign bound this weekend. It's going to be odd rooting against Illinois, but I'm expecting us to give them a game and then some. Sagarin has Illinois ranked 87th and SIU 88th. It's a winnable game (especially with the Illinois defense being banged up) but the lack of depth is probably going to end up costing us at the end. On that same note, I'll never understand it why I-A teams schedule the better I-AA teams in the country.
  16. I'm not saying I agree with it at all - I'm just not surprised by it.
  17. That doesn't surprise me in the least. Weren't they in the top 25 after beating ND last year?
  18. Boise State received 7 first place votes in the AP poll and is now only 13 points behind Ohio State in the poll. Go Miami. TCU moved up to #4 while Texas dropped to 5th, Florida fell to 8th and Oklahoma went all the way back to 10th.
  19. oh dear god.
  20. [expletive] awesome. The best part was that there was no gimmick in this game. It didn't take one trick play to knock these guys off.
  21. Oh and I like how Musberger thinks this game is over.
  22. Ugh, way too much time left.
  23. It's similar to the NFL clock rules now. Unless it's under two minutes, the clock only stops before the ball is placed back at the line. Once that happens, the clock starts running again.
  24. I could definitely see this happening. New England's D is going to be awful. I also think the Saints will lose their division and maybe even miss the playoffs, but that's probably just sour grapes. I think Atlanta's going to win that division this year and that's not sour grapes at all, from my end.
  25. Unbelievable. Nice penalty, idiot.
