  1. This game should be replayed. Heck, they had a do over earlier. Might as well do it over with real officials.
  2. What the hell is wrong with these officials? Worst call I've ever seen,
  3. Polamalu is the Jim Edmonds of football. Unnecessarily diving all over the field. If he stays on his feet, he probably has a pick 6 early and a good return there. Manning has played like crap. He's not reading the blitz or coverages well.
  4. What the hell? Officials didn't want to make anyone mad. These playoffs have been the worst called in my lifetime. I've never seen anything like that.
  5. I can't wait until Kerry walks after this season. Prior gets traded for a 30+ year old middle IF this offseason after he badmouths the team's effort. And Zambrano gets run into the ground, because he's the only starter Dusty (on a new contract) has that can go deeper than 5 innings.
  6. Wow. That half sucked. If Alexander doesn't come back and the Skins get a TO for a score and pull this off. Winner tomorrow is gonna be in the Super Bowl. I haven't been a big believer that the AFC is so much better, but this NFC is weak.
  7. From the day the Cubs got Jerome Williams for Hawkins, I thought he was very valuable trade bait. For a franchise loaded with starting pitching prospects close to the majors (Mitre, Wellemeyer, Hill, Nolasco, Pinto, Guzman) at the time of the trade, I thought Williams would just be traded again. I don't know why the Cubs and teams around the league aren't valuing him more. He was just 23 all of the 2005 season. He is 2 years removed from a near full season of 3.30 ERA baseball. Sure he had the problems in 04, and then came the weight problems....but he had an ERA at 3.91 as a Cub, including a 2.10 ERA in September with 6 quality starts in his last 8 games. If the Cubs can't get a pretty good offensive player for him and prospects, then they should just hold onto him and watch him be their 3rd best starter in 06.
  8. I think he values safety. I think he would rather overpay someone that could surprise, but most likely will be consistent (good or bad)....than to overpay someone who could have a big collapse. I think he feels burned by the Alou and Nomar deals. Neither justified the big money they got, outside of Alou in his walk year. That's why I believe he didn't go after Giles, the fear that he would age and become a problem contract. That's why I believe he won't trade anything of value for players like Wilkerson, Huff, etc, because they have had fluctuations in production. That's why I believe he has interest in Tejada. While he could be better than his recent numbers, they have been consistent and won't likely get worse in the near future. I think Lee was an example of a safe bet to produce consistently solid numbers, but also could surprise....which he did. I think Ramirez and Barrett are examples of guys who he didn't give up value for because of their production fluctuations. I think Hendry should take more chances. Sign Magglio or Drew to an incentive based contract, despite still having Sosa on the roster. Sign Tejada, and worry about finding a take for Gonzalez later. Sign a starter, then worry about who pitches in what role.
  9. In Week 11 Jones had 25 carries for 87 yards for a 3.1 yard avg. Tiki had 13 carries for 41 yards for a 3.2 yard avg. The problem is that the Giants expect much more out of Tiki, and they gave up on the run too quickly. Those 13 carries were the only carries that NY had. That's terrible. If Jones gets the same number of carries this week that he did in week 11, he'll start to get some yards late, like he always does after the defense starts to wear down some. Edited for ease of reading. Great point. The Giants gave up on the run. Of course, they were behind, but that was the problem. I think the more you run on any team, the more you wear them down. You saw Pittsburgh do that to the Bears D this year. It's alot easier to stop a WR, when everyone knows you want to pass. As for the "spotting points" thing. I don't understand why this term has been a big deal. When a team gets a lead, they are "spotted" a lead. I believe Delhomme was basically saying that his team couldn't come back because the Bears got a 2 score lead. 10 points for the Bears is about 5 quarters worth of offense.
  10. Yeah, I'd make Murton the 4th OF. You could mix and match with Huff getting Ramirez some days off. Or with Floyd, you could get him thru an entire season by giving him a day off every week. Against tough lefties, you can start Murton at either corner.
  11. What did MSU shoot in the 2nd half? Like 70%.
  12. Do you think the Bears defense has an ability to get turnovers closer to the opponent's end zone? I think getting turnovers deep in their territory is a coincidence in the way that if you force turnovers, some are bound to be like that. Vasher's 1st pick was on the Bears side of the field, at the 46. The 2nd was at the Carolina 40. The returns of the TOs put them deep in the Carolina end. So, it's not like the Tampa game where they got a TO at the 1. It would be a coincedence if the Bears kept getting the other team to turn it over inside their 20 or so. But the fact that the CBs get good return on picks is not, being that they are aggressive in attacking the ball.
  13. I don't think so. My thinking is that the steroids helped him stay healthy. He couldn't stay healthy during his prime years. I think the voters have to decide if they think he would have made it if he had continued to play less than 100 game seasons. From 93-96, it looked like his career might be over. Then had the big surge in 96 at age 32. He was under 250 HRs at that point. I don't think he is a HOF'er without the roids. I don't know that he would have stayed healthy enough to do so.
  14. Big men tend to have foot problems. I think DJ will be OK. I actually think this works in the team's favor. Look for Strickland to become as aggressive as he was at the beginning of the season. As for tonight, I love the matchups on the outside. Wilmont and Vaden vs. Ager and Brown should be classics. The 2 best defenders in the conference not named Dee Brown, against maybe the top 2 offensive wing players in the BigTen. Don't know what we are gonna do with Davis, other than Killer getting him in foul trouble. But I like the way IU matches up against MSU. Of course, the homecourt and desperation advantage are gonna make it tough for IU to escape with a win. I would like it very much for MSU to just come out guns a blazin'. Ager needs to make some shots, Davis needs to be a presence offensively(which means calling sets that put him closer than 20 feet to the basket), and Trannon/Gray need to continue to help out. Please win Spartans, preferably by a lot. Yeah, the Trannon/Gray combo is what I'm worried about. I think Davis will have a big game unless we can get him in foul trouble. IU just has to stop one of Brown/Ager. Of course, Davis will put Vaden at the 4 all night and Ager or Brown (whoever Wilmont isn't guarding) will go for 30.

  16. Sign Giles for 4/$52M (would have had to overpay to get him to leave SD). Sign Bob Howry Trade Patterson and Williams to LA for Milton Bradley. Trade Hill, Dopirak, and Mitre to Tampa for Lugo. Sign Jeff Weaver 1/$9M. Trade minor league pitcher for Branyan. Sign Marrero. Lineup. SS-Lugo 2B-Walker RF-Giles 1B-Lee 3B-Ramirez CF-Bradley LF-Murton C- Barrett Bench 2b/SS-Cedeno 2B/CF-Hairston 3B/1B/OF-Branyan OF-Marrero C-Blanco IF-Fontenot Rotation. Prior, Zambrano, Maddux, Weaver, Wood Bullpen. Dempster-CL, Howry-SU, Ohman, Rusch, Wuertz, Novoa
  17. true? please no. It's somewhat true. Nothing about re-breaking his foot. Completely different injury, but yeah he's gonna be out for a while, I doubt we see him back this year. http://iuhoosiers.collegesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/010906aaa.html I suppose this means that Ben Allen MUST step up and become a bit more physical. Otherwise, IU could get hurt on the boards and on defense by teams that have depth in the paint. Sean Kline cannot be the answer IMO. Are all of my favorite teams cursed? Kline could provide some tough D in the paint, but he can't elevate. He'll take a little pressure off of Killer against guys like Davis, Augustine, Dials, Sims, etc. I don't see Allen being able to get more physical.
  18. Probably weather.com CBS and NBC backup weather.com. We're getting a warmup for Thursday (near 50), but Skilling seems to be the only one who's saying that temps will rise dramatically again after a quick cooldown. I love Skilling, but I hope he's wrong. contrary to popular belief, i don't think the bears are a cold weather team. they're a warm-weather team, possibly even a dome team. i like their chances more in a warm setting, with good field conditions. Certainly looked like that in Pittsburgh.
  19. No. No, it's not.
  20. Not this year. I think the Giants beat Carolina in the regular season.
  21. The HR against Milwaukee was great. The walkoff when Dusty had a talking to him. The catch to rob Griffey in Cincy. Opening day 2003. But my favorite Corey Patterson times are when it seemed like he finally turned the corner. May-June 2003, when he seemingly became a 1-man show. He was getting big hits, hitting 3rd in the lineup, and looked to be on his way to fulfilling his promise before the knee injury. And in August 04. He looked like he was finally gonna be a leadoff hitter like the Cubs wanted, killing the baseball hitting ahead of Nomar. I thought the Cubs had a legit shot at the WS at the end of that month.
  22. Good luck Corey. Show the AL that you still have talent.
  23. I think Weaver has consistently shown he's not that good, and unless he's interested in a 1 year make good deal with the Cubs, I hope somebody else signs him. That's what I'm hoping for. My Millwood comparisons are well documented.
  24. That was bad....like....F'reel... The Cubs should get Ryan so he could come to Wrigley Field and be a Wiggly Freel.
