  1. I posted in the Big Ten thread. Yes, Monroe will play.
  2. The idea would be to draft a couple CB's so you would have 2 or 3 starting CB's. But they'd have to be ready to start.... I don't see anyway to draft 2 CBs that are gonna be better than Tillman in the next year or two. I don't see enough justification to move Tillman to safety with Brown and Harris there.
  3. Exactly. Tillman was very solid this season. No reason to make a change there, unless the Bears have 2 CBs better than Peanut (Vasher isn't even quite there yet). I'd really like it if the CB from Boston College, Blackwell was still around when the Bears pick in the 2nd round. He's a good 1-on-1 cover corner. Would be near the top of the board as a CB, if he had played there more. Was BC's leading WR this year, after being a 2-year starter (2nd team all conference in 04) at CB. He's a good kick returner, and has good size at 6'1" 200 Lbs.
  4. I hope the Steelers get completely blown off the face of the Earth on Sunday. I tried to root for them, but I refuse to anymore. I go to work yesterday, and all I hear is. "Hey, what happened to those Bears?" "DA Bears. HA HA HA" Every single person in the office said something about the Bears losing. Every single person was saying all last week that the Steelers didn't have a chance against the Colts. Then they come off with a "Told ya so attitude." It would be one thing if the Steelers beat the Bears to get to the championship game. But it's a completely different conference. There's no rivalry. No animosity from past contests. No reason to even be concerned about the Bears. But since I was greeted by so many idiots at work, I hope Denver (who I despise by the way) runs circles around the Steelers.
  5. Big game tonight. 5th best FG defense team against the best shooting team in the country. Team that scores 80 per game against at team that allows 56. Something's gotta give. The conference contenders have held up their home court. IU has to hold up theirs tonight or else their chances at a conference title are gone. Keys to the game: Illinois -Get some help. Brown and Augustine are scoring nearly 60% of their points in the conference season. -Stop Killingsworth. If they can hold Killer in check (25.5 in nationally televised games), and not get Auggie in foul trouble, they'll win. Indiana -Team rebound. With White gone, Illinois has the advantage in size and athletic ability up front. Guards gotta be aggressive on the defensive glass. -Make someone else beat you. Don't leave Dee, ever. Collapse on him in the lane, and make someone else hit a shot.
  6. You make good points. And on the surface, I agree with you. But that's kind of a generic blueprint. You have to look at how the draft is shaking out. Normally, I say go with a LB in the 1st round, because they typically have the best success rates. At pick 26, you aren't gonna get a good LB or CB, unless you overdraft. Normally, a TE isn't a difference maker unless you are getting a guy with the talent of Gates or Gonzalez. The Bears may have their pick of 2 guys with that type of difference making talent at the TE position.
  7. Not inefficient when all 3 were not all healthy or prepared at the same time (Benson hold out). Where would the Bears have been when TJ missed the same week that Benson hurt his knee?
  8. He won't be. And yeah, I did mean Pope. Davis is a notch above both. Then Pope, then Marcedes. Sorry, Rais. Any chance Marcus McNeil slips to 26? Doubtful. If so, though, I'd gladly pick him then go TE in round 2 or 3. Whitworth (LSU) may be an OT in the 2nd. Lutui could be there in the 2nd also at OG.
  9. That's who I meant was Davis. I get the 2 mixed up.
  10. Heh. I may be in the minority that wants Pope over Mercedes though.
  11. Again, I think it's an overreaction to want a #1 CB or a #1 WR. I can see drafting a WR, but no reason to pay another WR big money, like you did with Muhammad just to push Bradley and Berrian (with solid upsides) to 3rd-4th options. The Bears need to draft a TE in the 1st. Sign a veteran TE. And get a project type TE late in the draft or via undrafted FA. My perfect draft would be: 1st- TE (Pope, Lewis) 2nd- OL (perferably guard, but best available) 3rd- Outside skilled player (either WR or CB)
  12. I think Pie getting up to 200 means the Cubs will look to re-sign Pierre, with the belief that Felix can play a corner (most likely RF with his arm). I'd still like Pie to be the CF in 2007. I would like to see him get some ABs in the 2-hole next season. I'd start him at AA again, and call him up to AAA about midseason.
  13. Yeah, the special teams were bad too. Carolina started every drive outside of the 30, even after the Bears scored. This team really needs to utilize the backs and find a TE worth utilizing next year. The 2nd screen to Jones was the first screen I've seen work for the Bears since Neal Anderson was on the team. I blame the coaching staff moreso than any other aspect of the game. Tillman and special teams didn't help (punting was horrible), but no adjustments, bad playcalling, hurt most.
  14. I don't agree with that. You are basically saying the Bears need a short, quick WR. I personally like the big bodies. Wish they used their size better. But there aren't a lot of Steve Smith, Santana Moss type WRs. I think it is a different style of WR, they're out there. I like Santana's younger brother as far as being a potential smaller quick type WR. Bigger bodies like Gage are great, if you know how to use them. Moose knows how to use his body and great route running, players like Berrian and Bradley have great speed, but lack quickness. I want a WR with quickness. Ok, I see what you are saying. If Bobby Wade could catch, or run routes, he would have been a good guy in the WR corps. I wanted Bradley's OU teammate in the draft (can't remember his name now). He fit the description you are speaking of.
  15. Yeah. That's completely uncalled for. If you feel that way about this board, there's 1 easy solution for you.

  17. Agreed. But I think there's a better than average chance that Berrian and or Bradley prove that. I certainly don't want to spend the money to move the 2 young guys back on the depth chart. I'm not too worried about Bradley's knee. There have been plenty of players to come back from more devastating injuries. Joey Galloway comes to mind. McGahee, etc.
  18. I'm saying that I would much rather have an OC that is willing to run the ball alot than one that is not. I don't think that Martz is that good of a game caller. I think Rex would be perfect for an offense geared around deep slants and Jones would be better in a Marshall Faulk type role rather than a power runner. This is offense is a WR and TE away from being geared for an aggressive style offense rather than a power running team. If they can get more points and yards passing than running, I'm all for it. What's wrong with the WRs? I think the group of Muhammad, Berrian, and Bradley is very solid. The latter two showed the potential of being very productive options. Muhammad has proven to be a #1 in the past. I agree about Rex. He played in a wide open offense in HS and at UF. He can toss the ball around all day.
  19. I think the Bears need to completely start over at TE. Draft one early. Sign a FA. Draft one late. I don't think they need a possession WR. I really don't know what that means. I think Muhammad, Berrian, and Bradley are a very good start. I don't understand the love for Randle El. He's not better than the first 2 and I wouldn't want to play him over a healthy Bradley. And you still have Currie. I don't want to pay Twan for his punt returning abilities and being a #4 WR. Gage needs to go, though. I agree with the defensive needs. Brown and McGowan are a good start at SS. Harris should be back at FS. It would be nice to get a veteran FA to start over Harris though. What's wrong with Brown? I want a new SS.

  21. I understand people are disappointed. But here are some facts. 1. Charles Tillman is a good corner. He had a horrible game. 2. Losing Mike Brown hurt a lot. I like Chris Harris, but something tells me he was supposed to be in position on a couple of those plays. (the simulataneous catch by Smith, the 2nd Smith TD). 3. Rex Grossman had a solid game. Not great, but not sure what more he could have done. Tillman and the coaching staff lost this game. Horrible gameplan. No adjustments.
  22. Jason Lee believes Vanderjagt will miss.
  23. How does Bettis fumble in a game like this? I don't think I've ever seen him fumble. And he does in the biggest game of his life.
  24. Holy Crap!
  25. Not trying to make light of a potential horrible situation. But if the Steelers lose this game. These refs will see several attempts on their lives. The fans here are serious.
