  1. Wow. Nice info. Just as a note, that looks a lot different from when I saw Pie for Lansing. He did a pretty good job of laying off high fastballs, but chased some balls in the dirt. And in A ball, it looked like he had problems with pitches in on his hands.
  2. I think Atlanta didn't re-sign Maddux because they got screwed in arbitration the previous season. The Cubs would have to pay big if he accepts. As much as it would hurt, I would say let him test the waters, regardless of how good his season is, and hope he retires.
  3. On the DL. I believe he broke his foot opening day. Out 6-8 weeks.
  4. DJaxx is the man. Wow. He gets them all.
  5. Combined 40 pitches to 13 batters.
  6. Ha. He does look good this year. Payton was a warrior. I don't think Greg could handle that type of workout. Didn't Payton used to run backwards up a hill or some crazy thing like that? Also, this team would benefit from taking pitches. Todd managed to get a pitch to thwack out of the park in part because he worked the count. Everyone else so far...not so much so. Yeah, among other things. Gameday has Tomko at 22 pitches, 7 of them to Walker.
  7. Ha. He does look good this year. Payton was a warrior. I don't think Greg could handle that type of workout.
  8. Did I make it in time to claim my t-shirt?
  9. That's pretty interesting. Of course, Shelton went to 27 in 429 today, so it's getting closer!
  10. Derek Lowe and Varitek for Heathcliffe Slocumb.
  11. Mark McGwire to St. Louis for TJ Matthews, Eric Ludwick and Blake Stein.
  12. Actually it's seven to RF. It's hard to tell in the scaled down version I posted, but there are three hits grouped tightly together down the RF line. I also think the scale of my baseline may be a bit small. Generating a strike zone was much easier than generating a ball diamond. ;) Ok, I thought that was a little too close. He hasn't gotten out much when he's pulled the ball. That's pretty interesting.
  13. That's only 5 hits to RF vs. 4 to the other parts of the field. It looks like 3 IF hits to the right side which is darn near impossible to do.
  14. Gone deep again. Damn! I've only seen him play maybe twice. I didn't see this coming. Is he for real?
  15. The Dodgers got shut out by Brad Hennessey. Ramon Martinez is their only backup middle IF right now. If Kent is out today, Martinez has to start and there is no backup. That probably leaves a lineup of Furcal, Lofton, Mueller, Drew, Cruz, Loney, Navarro, Martinez. Not much of a lineup, but a lot of lefties which may give Maddux a little trouble.
  16. BTW, Adrian Beltre is the worst player in baseball. Man, did he ever take advantage of a contract year.
  17. Yeah, he has plenty of hits to left and left center. Actually, I pointed out in one of the game threads how he was smoking a lot of balls to dead CF. He does seem to be pulling a lot of balls, but he's also seeing the ball really well, as evidenced by his high batting average. I think just like any other hitter, when he hits a ball really hard, it's gonna be pulled. Definitely nothing to worry about. I don't think anything about Felix this season has caused worry.
  18. Man, my pitching sucks. It didn't help that I had a 9-5 start disadvantage. But I have a top 5 1B (Berkman, who also qualifies as the #1 OF). A top 5 3B. My 2B would be #1 if I could combine their 2 weeks (Kinsler was #1 before getting hurt). Vlad, Holliday and Nady are top 15-20 OFs and with Sizemore destined to be up there before long. I have 1 QS and 1 win in about 13 starts this year.
  19. 6' 230 LBS. Built like a linebacker, but still have some speed and agility. I have soft hands, but not a great arm. I picked 3B. In HS, I played 3B and LF (I was 5'10", 185 back then). I hit leadoff, 2nd and 9th primarily. I was a speed guy with no power. I probably have a less speed and a lot more power now. I'll hit 5th. I would say 3rd, but I don't take walks or make much contact.
  20. And he'll just say, "look at 2004". Not saying he deserves more than Urlacher, but he has played better than him at times.
  21. I'm whooping this league.
  22. Man, I had a 5-game streak going and forgot to pick all weekend. My strategy is going to pick all superstars. I am only picking Lee, Pujols, and Vlad.
  23. So, I was up 10-1 in Week 1 with 2 days left and wound up losing. In week 2, I was down like 7-2 with 2 days left and wound up winning. Crazy fantasy baseball.
  24. I'll help out. It's easier to get it started early in the season (like now) and update everyday. I did this last year for a couple players splits. It took me the most time to actually figure out which pitchers were LH.
  25. leadoff walk scores on a 2-out triple. ICubs tied 1-1. 5 IP, 3 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K. 71 pitches 46 strikes.
