  1. Yep! Man, I got 26 points in that game offensively from 2 players in that game.
  2. C-Mauer 1B- DLee 2B- Utley SS- Jeter 3B- D Wright LF- C Patterson (I know he's not a LF) CF- Sizemore RF- JBay (I know he's not a RF) SP- Zambrano, Santana, Pedro, Wood, Prior
  3. That deal doesn't seem like nearly enough offense to convince the Yanks to give up A-Rod. I think you'd have to make it Jones, Prior and Aramis. It gives them anywhere from 150-200 OPS points in the OF depending on who they sit between Williams and Cabrera. They lose a lot at 3B, but they can go out and get a guy like David Bell, Hillenbrand, Randa, etc for the prospects they have. They can't get a guy like Prior with their prospects. If Prior is 100%, he can put the Yankees over the top. Plus, you have to consider the only reason they would possibly trade Arod. They want to get rid of him. You don't get 3 ML starters for a guy you want to get rid of.
  4. I don't know. I would definitely go after him if I were the Cubs. And I would definitely trade him if I were the Braves. I think Atlanta can get a GREAT prospect for him, based on his MVP 2005 and his defensive talent. I'd think they'd look for an OF prospect and at least 1 SP prospect. As far as the Cubs are concerned, I think they would be looking at giving up Pie, Marshall and another pitching prospect....possibly a guy like Gallagher. I think the Angels match up well. They need an OF and have prospects out the wazoo. I'm thinking Andruw and a pitching prospect for Santana, Aybar, and Rivera.
  5. Why does it matter? He helps them this year and then is a free agent. We aren't competing for the division this year, so who wins it shouldn't matter one iota. If we were trading someone who could help them long term, then that might be a valid argument. As it is, the trade would likely come back to haunt them more than us as Maddux helps them in a year that we aren't going anywhere while whoever we get could be a useful cog in the future. I doubt we get Broadway and Anderson. Probably one, not both. There's a reason I didn't include Howry, Eyre, and Dempster. They all could be a part of the team next year since they are under contract. However, if the White Sox offered a nice package for one of them, I have no problem trading with an AL team. Trading with the White Sox is no different than trading with the Rangers. I have probably been one of the biggest Dempster proponents I know, but his nightmarish season has even convinced me that if anyone comes along wanting him (and takes most of the $10M he's due in 2007 and 2008), then Hendry should deal him. I don't see any reason to trade Eyre -he'll be an important piece for next season. Howry has been a nice addition, and my preference would be to keep him too, but if I were Hendry I'd be open to dealing him if I got back a nice package of prospects. I would definitely look to trade 2 of the 3 back of the bullpen guys, along with Williamson. Howry and Eyre could probably close if needed. The Cubs have Wuertz and Aardsma in AAA who have shown flashes of being just as good as anybody in the pen. I'd actually trade Howry first and lean toward keeping Dempster. Eyre's left arm makes him possibly the most valuable. I still think Dempster can turn it around when he has a consistent chance to close games. In a perfect world, I package Williamson with Pierre or Jones or Maddux. I trade Howry for a decent prospect. I trade Dempster and all his salary for a couple good prospects. And I have a bullpen of: Eyre, Wuertz, Novoa, Ohman, Aardsma, and Miller (Lightenberg if they insist on 12 pitchers) And a rotation of: Zambrano, Prior, Marshall, Hill, Guzman/Marmol
  6. I'd put Miller in as the long man in the pen. Let him get a couple outings (that would take 6 weeks if he was under 25) and then decide what to do from there. If he shows stamina put him in the rotation. If he doesn't put him in short relief. I still think he could be a good closer/setup man.
  7. Someone mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I think the Yanks would be all over Prior, Jones and a prospect for ARod. It gives them a much needed arm in the rotation this year, and a potential long-term ace in Prior. It gives them what instantly becomes their best healthy OF (getting Cabrera and/or Bernie out the lineup everyday somewhat offsets the loss of ARod). Don't know what the Yanks do about 3B, but they've never been shy about going out and getting someone. The biggest problem with this deal is I don't see the Cubs having the guts to bring in a player like Arod. I don't see them having the intelligence to move Arod back to SS. And I don't see them having the willingness to trade what has been their most productive to not miss 2 months of the season (even though they get a more productive player in return).
  8. I was skeptical about Wallace, especially at 5 years/65-75M. A 4-year deal makes a huge difference though. Someone said Ben is not a "superstar", but isn't it true that he makes his teammates better and is a difference maker? I think it will make more of a difference with the youth of this Bulls team. The Chandler for PJ and JR deal would make this a great offseason. Pax may have come up with a perfect combination of veteran leadership (Wallace, Brown), players in their prime years (Gordon, Nocioni, Hinrich) and guys with huge upside (Thomas, Thabo, Deng). With this move, the Pistons are coming back to the pack in the East. Shaq looked like he was about done in the playoffs, which would bring Miami back to the pack. Right now, depending on who the Pistons go out and get and the Heat's health.....the East is a tight race between Detroit, Miami, Cleveland, New Jersey and Chicago. I can easily see the Bulls as the #1 seed in the East next year.
  9. Wow. So, if Pierre continues his retched season, Hendry is gonna offer him arbritration in hopes of getting a draft pick? What happens when he accepts and gets $9M/year?
  10. Can't say I didn't warn you. :P Damn bottomfeeder. You did turn around that team pretty fast.
  11. The Angels finally making moves that make sense. Now if they just DFA Anderson, Erstad, and Molina. Trade Kennedy, Escobar, and Cabrera and let the kids play.
  12. Nice. Would be a great sign. And exactly what this organization needs. I hope they can use the lure of playing with Zambrano, Guzman, etc to get one more of those Venezuelan kids to Chicago. BTW, those are some big boys. I'd be the topic of message boards if I was 6'2" 200lbs at age 16, instead of posting on them.
  13. I'm looking to have a very different looking team by the end of Independence Day. Now, this is not a fire sale where I'm trading great players for prospects. I'm looking to get prospects, but also want my share of solid contributors at the ML level. And so nobody even asks......Sizemore, Holliday, Weaver, Jenks, and Santana are NOT available. There still is plenty of good talent available, including: Vlad Guerrero, Lance Berkman, Melvin Mora (all who were keepers last year), Smoltz, Sanchez, and Lowe are also decent players who can help a contending team.
  14. Nice to be playing the highest scoring team in the league once again.
  15. Oh I love Tejada. He's my biggest regret in the Hendry regime. I can understand not wanting to pay Beltran, Drew, and Magglio. I can understand not going after Vlad with Sosa and Alou on the books. But I can't fathom why Alex [expletive] Gonzalez stopped him from goign after Tejada. As I have said many times before, if the Cubs aren't gonna value OBP, I hope they get good players who hit for a high enough average and power to not be a liability. I'm all for the Cubs adding one of Tejada, Soriano, or Carlos Lee. Not ideal players, but very good players. Who would help out this team.
  16. I don't want to give up 3 players with that much upside for Garnett. And KG is my favorite player. I have to think that a trade is in the works for Deng. Noicioni had a big year last year, and Thomas and Thabo can both backup the 3.
  17. rawaction

KG's one of my favorites, but I don't know that I want him in Chicago. My guess is the Bulls would have to give up Deng, Chandler, and Thomas at least (not all in the same deal, but altogether to make KG's contract work). I don't know if KG can make up for the loss of that much talent.
  18. I don't know why Prior couldn't bring a Tejada. Unless that corner OF is really good, and by his reasoning he wouldn't be if Prior can't get Tejada, then the Cubs are better off keeping Mark. I don't agree on the bullpen comment. The Cubs have plenty of bullpen options. I still think Wuertz and Ohman will be very little dropoff from Eyre and Howry. Novoa and Aardsma could still develop into solid relievers. Then you have guys like Wells, Marmol (if doesn't make it as a starter), Rapada, and other guys in the high minors who have great stuff and could help out in relief.
  19. Sounds like somewhat of a backpeddle. If 3.0 is FAR from a good walk rate, you have high standards.
  20. I'm not sure if they'll be looking for pitching or not. Myers and Hamels are a good base, they'll have both Wolf and Lieber returning, Floyd in AAA, plus guys like Segovia and Haigwood in AA. They're rather thin on offensive prospects IMO so they may hold on to what they've got for the time being and hope for the return of the vets plus the a boost from the youngsters to get them where they're going. They don't need offensive prospects when they have control of Utley, Howard, Rollins, Burrell, Victorino, and I'm assuming a 3B in a trade for the foreseeable future. Myers, Hamels and Floyd is a decent start. But Lieber is not very good, healthy, or consistent anymore and Wolf is a HUGE questionmark at this point. If Lieber gives them anything when he comes back, he's likely to be traded also.
  21. Right on. His days are still pretty good though. I wouldn't think about doing it for Ramirez (because ARam is younger and likely further from free agency), but I would definitely go after Abreu if he is available.
  22. NICE! Snell and Reyes both go 5 innings, and were 1 inning away from quality starts, but both took over 90 pitches to get there and were gone after 5, but will likely both get losses. DLowe got absolutely raped today, for the first time since he tried to pitch injured in Week 1.
  23. Marshall's minor league numbers= 9.24 K/9, 2.51 BB/9. The bolded statement is completely untrue.
  24. For what it's worth, I think the Phils will be looking for a 3B and obviously, pitching for Abreu. The only way I see the Cubs getting Abreu is thru a 3-way deal.
