  1. I'm not feeling DeJesus. What's so special about him that he would get that kind of package offered for him? I agree with the Carl Crawford comparison. I think DeJesus is and will always be a poor man's Carl Crawford, with more OB ability and less power and speed. He does have great OB ability, but I still see him more as a Lofton type player in his prime.
  2. With the 11th pick (and 1st of the 2nd round), Raw Dawgs select RB- Reggie Bush, New Orleans Saints
  3. With the 10th pick, Raw Dawgs select Reggie Wayne- WR, Indianapolis Colts
  4. Don't count out the Angels and Dodgers seeing as both have been known to shell out big money for free agents (re: Vlad, Furcalholic) in the past. I realize that Boras is Zito's agent but he might take a little less from a West Coast team to stay in the warm weather. As much as I would like to have Zito, I don't think the Cubs should pay him what he is going to command. I don't know if the Angels will go after Zito. They do have some pretty good young pitching with Weaver and Santana, Joe Saunders could be in that rotation next year too and is a good looking prospect. I think they will be looking more for a big bat, however if they do have to give up Santana for that bat, which they don't want to do, then they may go after a pitcher....but then they may not be able to afford it.
  5. The East race sucks, because it doesn't include me. Trade away 2 All-Star OFs and Mora and I still have a dominant offensive week. There's no reason I should not be at least 10-4. I hate this damn league.
  6. Heh. My top 2 SPs had horrible weeks. A normal week from Santana, and I win the high point total for the week.
  7. Nope. 4-10 with RISP. 4 runs came across without a hit scoring them. Conclusion- Agressive clutch hitting and small ball works.
  8. I'm sure I'll be accused of being a Dusty hater, but to me this is a shot at the young guys currently on the team. The "lose even more" comment means he equates having youth to losing. To me, that in an around-about way points the finger at all the "kids" he has on the team that they are part of the reason he is losing. Last year he had very few "kids" and the team had a losing record. The team played with veterans all year til Murton came up late. The team in 2004 failed down the stretch with all veterans.
  9. Raw Dawgs (REIGNING CHAMPS B!TCHES) QB- Carson Palmer/ Kurt Warner RB- Clinton Portis RB- Ronnie Brown WR- Reggie Wayne WR- Reggie Brown/ Derrick Mason RB/WR- Reggie Bush/ Frank Gore TE- Vernon Davis DEF- NY Giants K- My team is all Reggies and old men names. Vernon, Frank, Clinton, Kurt!
  10. I'm done if Zambrano is traded. No realistic trade for Zambrano will be good enough to consider.
  11. Schmidt is likely to receive a much better contract. I'm guessing he may even take just a 3-year deal. Schmidt is better and a better fit for the Cubs. I'd love to add Schmidt and a big bat in the OF.
  12. Let him move on then. I believe Urlacher made him look better than he was anyways. I don't think I can agree with Urlacher making Briggs better, since Briggs had an amazing year in 04 when Urlacher missed all or parts of 9 games. If it came down to keeping Urlacher and Briggs, I'd think long and hard about keeping Briggs over him. Briggs is younger and healthier. Urlacher probably a better LB overall, but not so much better that you can overlook the 2-year age difference and 49 of 49 games in his career that Briggs has played (although, Urlacher has only missed time in 2004).
  13. Not for me. To me, he's on the same boat as Emmitt. Great offensive line helped him a ton. Great QB took a ton of pressure off. And he's a step down talent-wise from Emmitt. He's in the Franco Harris boat for me. Bottom of the 3rd tier.
  14. Let's give everyone an award! I'm completely biased toward Payton, so I would say he's the best. But I would say: Barry Sanders is the best RUNNER of all time. He did the most with his touches of the ball. Jim Brown is the most complete running back of all time. Power, speed, vision, agility, best combo. Walter Payton was a better football player than both. Probably did nothing the best, but was right up there in everything. Not the best runner, but in the top 3. Not the strongest, but for his size was as powerful as any. Not the fastest, but had breakaway ability. Not the most agile, but made people miss with the best of them. Plus, he's the best receiver, blocker, and passer of the top RBs. Only led the league in rushing 1 time, despite easily the best back for most of his years. Horrible offensive teams he played on. Emmitt does deserve mention for his longevity, but I fully believe that offensive line helped him more than any other player can claim. That doesn't take away that he was still a great back. Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker were the most talented players I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. There may never be another athlete like Bo. Period. Brown, Sanders, and Payton to me are on the top tier. 2nd tier is Emmitt, Marcus Allen, OJ, Sayers, Dickerson, Dorsett 3rd tier is guys like Campbell, Jackson, Walker, Bettis, Faulk, Riggins, etc. BTW, do you guys realize that Edge and Tiki will go over 10,000 yards this year? Edge has played like 5 years.
  15. If he's such a stud, why did Williams trade for Vazquez and block McCarthy from the starting rotation? Not only for this season but unless he moves one of his starting five, next year as well. Phil Rogers has a comment in today's Tribune suggesting again that Kenny Williams should trade Garcia, Garland or Vazquez plus a prospect to Atlanta for Andruw Jones. By the way, one other interesting point Rogers made regarding Andruw Jones: at some point in August, he will qualify for 10-5 rights. Don't think that deal does much for the Braves. Why would they want a high salaried pitcher? My guess is the Braves would much rather have McCarthy and an offensive prospect or 2.
  16. Oh heck yeah! LMAO!
  17. Some of my personal opinions of what it would take to get Abreu and who would be interested. To Dodgers for Laroche and Broxton To Angels for McPherson, Mathis, pitching prospect To Detroit for Humberto Sanchez, and others To Texas for Hank Blalock and Diamond along with Jon Lieber and cash. To Yankees for Duncan, Melky and a pitching prospect not named Hughes
  18. Put Madson in the lineup. Although, Boof had a possible start on Sunday before being sent down. I didn't put Madson in til after the start of today's games meaning he did NOT give me an extra start. Hopefully, I won't need it. Funny I trade away 2 of my best offensive players and I lead the league in scoring this week. Of course, I have had 5 starts....but 3 of them have been bad.
  19. It would be great if the Cubs got Abreu, but I don't see the motivation/willingness to give up anything for him. Why would the Cubs make a deal for them when they are so hopelessly out of contention and JJ is maning RF for 2 more years? Maybe trade Pierre and move JJ to CF? But I can't see Hendry being that creative. Trade Pierre and move Jones to LF. I think the Cubs will probably toss Murton aside like Choi, Hill, and Dubois before him. Jones is better suited for LF anyway. I think the Cubs would be very interested, but I don't know if they have what the Phils would want.
  20. Tigers don't want to give up Zumaya. I think the Phils would be very wise to trade Abreu. The loss from Abreu to Victorino full time would be big #'s wise, but could be made up by natural progression of Howard and Utley, and increased production at 3B and/or C. Abreu's contract isn't so bad where the Phils should have to eat much, if any, of it. If they can get a young 3B and a couple prospects, they can go out and get into the Zito sweepstakes with the money they are paying Abreu/Bell/Lieberthal.
  21. Good: Has world series gold Has fiery temper which could lead to potential legendary cubs moments Slight possibility his fiery temper makes the cubs play slightly better Bad: Has a bigger veteran fetish than Dusty May or may not understand the importance of OBP. We need someone who goes publicly on record saying OBP is important. I really don't know much about him, other than those. Bad: Not a good manager of his pitching staff. Overuses his starters as much if not more than Baker.
  22. No reason why the Bulls shouldn't again lead the league in defense, this year joined by being the best rebounding team in the NBA.
  23. yep, you shoulda picked Jeter over Dunn in the draft. It will come back to haunt you.
  24. First time I ever heard Pie called "The Franchise".
  25. I figured out that I don't win, despite having great talent year after year, because I have never had a Yankee or Red Sox on my team. I had Wily Mo Pena for a little, but he was a bench player. They are consistently the best offensive teams and have the best players hitting around them.
