  1. You do know that 2 of Cedeno, Theriot, Derosa, or Izturis will likely start every single game this year unless there is a disaster, right?

    Week 2

I don't think there should be any changes during the week, unless a player goes on the DL. If a guy is day-to-day, you lose him.
  3. Sad to say, but I tend to agree with the first part. He is a good fantasy pitcher for Ws and Ks though. He was better than Peavy last year. Hell, he was better than every pitcher in the NL last year.
  4. Keeping track of the game thru CBS sportsline. And according to various "gloggers". Zambrano is an overrated ace. He's not near the Santana, Peavy, Halladay class of #1s. He's more like on the Kazmir level. "Is he good? Yes. An ace? No way." He's a mediocre fantasy starter and that's only if your league doesn't count WHIP and ERA. This is fun.
  5. Michael Wuertz has been the Cubs best reliever for 2+ years. Cubs managers need to realize this.
  6. lol Our lineup is definitely small ball, I think we might actually do okay today. Seriously, what's our payroll? Isn't it approaching $200m? The Royals probably have a more threatening lineup today. Payroll's like 103M....not close to 200 million.
  7. Gotta remember that Stanton was once the #1 QB in this draft class (granted that was not including Russell who was a Jr.). There's a reason for that. He didn't lose talent. He didn't live up to his hype, but this is a rare situation where I blame a ton on the people around him. Coaching staff was horrible. His teammates literally quit during the season.
  8. I have a feeling he will be lights out. The Reds have always been a bad matchup for him becuase they are a good low ball hitting team. Even when he's been on with the sinker they still have guys (Griffey, Dunn, Phillips, Hatteberg) who can all hit the low fastball.
  9. This should be a fun game. Zambrano needs to be on.
  10. This is Colvin's first game batting since game number 1 right? If so, that's a great very, very early start-5 for 6 with 2 SB and 1 HR. No, he played both games yesterday, going 1/7 with a double and K. I love the Sizemore comparison. My guess is Colvin would have to severely overachieve to be Sizemore. I see him at his best as a perfect median between Mark Kotsay and Sizemore.
  11. You jinxed him. Naw, that sucks though.
  12. Edge is only gonna be 29 in August. Of course, he is going on 9 years in the league, but he doesn't have that many carries. Not many compared to whom? He's got over 2500, and another 400 catches. That's not Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith territory, but it's more than most featured backs in this era of bigger, faster, stronger defenders. Including Priest Holmes, the recently retired Tiki Barber, the shadow of his former self Corey Dillon, the short lived Ahman Green, even the relatively steady stalwart Warrick Dunn. And it's a heck of a lot more than Terrell Davis. I think in this current era, that any team should feel fortunate to get 2000 solid carries out of a guy before he starts to fade fast. A platoon situation could help spread those 2000 yards over 8, 9 or 10 years. But any runner who has the workload of Edge should not be counted on for the longterm, especially when he's already shown a sharp dropoff in effectiveness. I see your point, but your comparisons aren't very good, because Barber, Dunn, and Holmes weren't feature backs for the first 4 years of their careers. Davis had a much shorter career and he and Holmes had many more carries per game in their prime than Edge did. Dillon's about even in his career RPG. I wasn't comparing the guys to find an exact replica. I was showing that he has a lot of carries when you compare him to just about anybody but Emmitt Smith and Payton. And that finding him a platoon would be very wise, considering how often guys at his age/mileage, lose effectiveness. I didn't say it was a bad idea. Just disputing that he was old and "needs" a platoon. What he needs is an offensive line.

  14. I don't see what the big problem is with Soriano in the leadoff spot. He doesn't have a great history of OBP, but he was pretty good leading off last year and historically has performed better as a 1 hitter. If he's comfortable there and he's not flat out hurting the team (which I don't think he is or will), then there's no problem with him there. Look at the alternatives. Murton may be the only better option for #1, but there is nobody else on the team better suited for #2. Derosa has just as inconsistent a history as Soriano. Barrett has been better recently, but career-wise isn't an OBP machine. Izturis is a joke there. And Jones is not likely to be better.
  15. And if he goes to TB he won't have to face Pujols this year. World Series. So...Raisin's on record now for projecting a WS of Tampa vs St. Louis! Cards don't have the offense to make it. Certainly not if Pujols hits .176 this year. Well, he is about done. He is well out of his prime years now at age 35.
  16. Wells needs to be in the pen, and fast.
  17. That's the next body part he will hurt.

  20. At least then we would know what the heck was wrong with him.
