  1. I'm excited. Bears are said to have the easiest schedule next year based on opponents, but a lot of that is 2 vs. the 0-16 Lions. Getting Arizona or Minnesota in Chicago in December would make things that much more favorable for the Bears. Same goes for playing Pitt and Baltimore early in the year on the road. Another thing to consider is over the last few years teams have sucked after playing the Steelers. So, I'm hoping the Lions or the bye week (same thing right?) immediately follow that game.
  2. Most likely, but I wouldn't be surprised to see if go 7. I expect the Bulls to win at least 2, though.
  3. Besides the Pistons, Orlando is the team I would want to play in the playoffs, and that includes all 8 seeds. The Magic beat the Bulls 3 out of 4 times this year, but they haven't played since the Bulls have hit their stride with the new players. Orlando is cold right now. The 3-ball has not been falling for them as of late. And I think the Bulls can throw a lot of bodies at Howard and make him earn it from the line, if necessary. Miller and Gray force Howard to play against a bigger body who can hack him if he gets in a position to score. Tyrus and Noah give the Bulls a smaller quicker guy who can possibly block Howard's shot. But the key will be how the Bulls guard Turkolou and Lewis on the outside. I like Salmons on one of them, but don't like Tyrus trying to guard the other one on the outside. I love the Rose vs. Alston matchup. I think he can take advantage of this matchup all night and possibly get Howard into foul trouble.
  4. It seems like Lee is guessing at the plate. He's watching hittable fastballs go over the plate and late on the ones he does swing at. I haven't seen a huge difference in bat speed, just that he seems late starting his swing. It's almost like he isn't seeing the ball well enough.
  5. That's not too hard to do today with the way Jimenez threw. But still impressive.
  6. way to step up with 3 of the team's best hitters watching. WTG Lee.
  7. Seriously, dude has a 3.0 WHIP and the only run scored was walked in.
  8. Good thing Miles is getting 2.5Mil/year.
  9. He saved my life! I had Ryan Dempster in one of my other leagues also that plays 2 games per week. It counts wins. That would have added 2 more ERs to Dempster's total and taken him out of getting the W. I won one game by 2.5 points, the other by 8.
  10. I think you may see some lineup changes in this one. With the day game following the night game tonight, and the day game being the home opener, I think you will see Milton Bradley getting his first off day this season. If Hoffpauir gets the start, that's probably the only change. However, I think we will see Reed Johnson getting the start (PH single yesterday, while Hoff K'd w/the bases loaded) AND Aaron Miles in at SS to get the extra lefty bat in the lineup. My prediction of the lineup. Soriano Miles Lee Fukudome Ramirez Fontenot Johnson Hill Lou gets his L-R fetish fulfilled and gets to keep a couple of bench guys "fresh".
  11. If Mossaquoi develops, that'd be a nice duo of Andre Johnson and Mohammed Mossaquoi for Shaub to throw to. I think I have had a pretty good draft, getting Vontae Davis, Rashad Johnson, Antoine Caldwell, Zac Follett and Massaquoi. If Cushing is off the board (and Houston loves him), then I think they would be happy with possibly the top CB, a top 2-3 FS, an OLB who can play right away and a WR with 3 years as a starter who still has some upside.
  12. Houston selects Mohammed Massaquoi- WR, Georgia.
  13. I'm not that into Gilbert. I heard that too. They say he doesn't have the attitude to play defense, whatever that means. Too much of a project for me. I don't think he could go on rotation in the DL right away.
  14. Yeah, it's not supposed to work that way. He shoulda blown it wide open.
  15. I think Britt's size puts him ahead of Nicks. The added goaline offense dimension that Britt brings would put him over Nicks, IMO.
  16. Counsell is a weak hitter. I'd rather face a guy w/ no power with a power pitcher in that situation. Bringing in Cotts also should have meant Macha countering with a RH hitter. With 3 RHs afterward, Cotts was a waste anyway. I can only assume he went with Miles because the contact play was on and he didn't trust Micah's ability to make contact. But the fact that Hoffpauir is 300X the hitter that Miles is and immensely more likely to hit a flyball to score the runner from 3rd never crossed his mind. I have no idea why he took Vizcaino out. He was throwing like crap, but somehow managed to get 2 outs with little trouble. What good did going from a RH to another RH do? Makes no sense. All Gathright has on Fukudome is range. Fukudome makes up for it with the great jumps he gets and his amazing throwing arm. What makes it worse is that Gathright isn't even his best CF on the bench.
  17. Where's the stupid trade offers thread? I just got offered Rick Ankiel and Ryan Zimmerman for Evan Longoria. Nevermind it's a keeper league and he wants one of the best young studs in the game. Nevermind that my OF is Holliday, Kemp, Quentin, and my utility player is the hot hand between Delgado and Huff. So, neither player would be good enough to start for my team since Huff would play 3B over Zim and Delgado would be at U over both.
  18. I'd rather wait for the clinch, because I want Charlotte in the playoffs. I think it would be a nice story and I hate Detroit so it works out.
  19. surprised he didn't get more interest. He's the kind of player who will really only fit in a largely Cover 2 defense - primarily one primed significantly to speed over size. He's giving up 2-3 inches on most (non Cover 2) teams' starters. At 6-feet even, though, he's as tall as all but two Colt LBs (Adam Seward and Phillip Wheeler are both 6'2"). Yeah, but there are enough cover 2 teams out there. Did Tampa ever replace Brooks?
  20. surprised he didn't get more interest.
  21. Good post. When the Bears were good on defense, up until 2006, they were bringing in fresh faces from the draft consistently. Granted they kept trying, but failed miserably with Bazuin and Okwo. Also, Anderson regressing has hurt. I think it's much easier to bring in veteran offensive players than defensive players. Defensive players can easily step in and play right away, getting by on their god given ability. They also lose effectiveness as the age moreso than offensive players. So, I would rather draft a DL or a CB and put him in the rotation over drafting a WR, QB, or even an OL and throwing him to the wolves.
  22. This year, it's Adam Jones. Jones has ML experience from last year and has the luxury of hitting between Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis. He'll get a lot of pitches to hit. He'll run a lot. He'll score a lot of the runs in front of the middle of the order. Snyder and Maybin are at the bottom of their orders. I wouldn't expect much from Maybin this year. Snyder has a ton of power, but is currently stuck in the 9-hole in Toronto. If he's really good he could hit 6th, but until then Jones is a better option.
