  1. Harris, Adams, and Harrison are the DTs Ogunleye, Brown, Anderson are the DEs. With Idonije able to play both. I don't think you can count on Dvoracek being able to do anything. So, I think that DE and DT were about equal in need.
  2. And you think the 99th best player in the draft is going to be good enough to start at FS? That's probably unlikely.
  3. He played both in college and at 288lbs, he'd be one of the biggest 4-3 DEs in the NFL.
  4. Yeah, top player on Kiper and Mayock's boards. FS and DL are both weak from here on out and the Bears chose they one they felt was most needed or the better player. Assuming they will play him at DT, but he and Idonije may rotate at both DL spots.
  5. Before the last 10 picks of the 2nd round, I listed the best 16 potential players the should/would reasonably pick. After the 2nd round, with 4 picks until the Bears draft, 12 of those guys are still on the board. My best available for the Bears (mostly in order): Louis Murphy- WR Jauquin Iglesias- WR Rashad Johnson- FS Michael Johnson- DE Duke Robinson- OG Lawrence Sidbury- DE Jarron Gilbert- DL Roy Miller- DT Tyrone McKenzie- OLB Jason Phillips- LB Chris Baker- DT Kevin Barnes- CB
  6. Any chance the Bears trade back in? If not, any chance Louis Murphy or Jaquin Iglesias last til 68?
  7. Bears trade for 68 and 105, no picks on Day 1. Maybe a trade back in?
  8. And there's the trade down. What picks could this potentially be for?
  9. The Oakland Reachers!
  10. Good chance both will be there at 59, which is why I want to trade down. If they stay, I'd say it's MAssaquoi or Johnson-DE.
  11. Gilbert's more of a 3-4 end or 4-3 DT. With no WR worthy of taking, I'd probably trade down anyway.
  12. If Brown, Barwin and Johnson are still on the board at DE, it would be excellent if the Bears can trade down a few picks.
  13. houston selects Rashad Johnson, FS Alabama
  14. I would consider drafting a QB late. If not, then they definitely should next year. I'm a firm believer in constantly bringing in fresh arms to the QB battle, and not just undrafted free agents and roster cuts either. Also, I don't really care much about the FB position. It's just not that vital. Find a body who can throw the occasional block and contribute on special teams. Agreed. I would definitely draft a QB next year. Basanez isn't much and another guy to compete for the #2 spot would be nice, but my thinking is bring in a guy that can learn from Cutler next year as opposed to learning the offense WITH Cutler this camp. I don't care much about FB either, neither does anyone else that's why they all go in or after the 6th. I just look at it as a cheap way to get another contributor, whereas drafting any other position that late isn't likely to contribute, ever. And anything to get McKie off the roster helps! You hate that dude don't you. I don't know, I think some 6th and 7th round players have contributed, at least to special teams. Of course, I can't think of any names there. Not a McKie fan. He reminds me of the dude from Naughty by Nature. http://76.12.223.231/media/video/thumb/JasonMckie.mov.jpg http://blog.drjays.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/242acbec.jpg

  16. Hunter Cantwell would be a great grab at 246 if he's there. Absolutely. If the Bears had that draft WF22 scenerio, I could live with that draft. The first three picks (Johnson---Bama to the Bears would be like heaven to me, Iglesias and Beckwith) would be solid value picks and added depth for the Bears. As for Cantwell, he wouldn't be a bad 7th rd choice, but he would be battling Heine for the backup job, and seeing as the Bears have a man-crush on Heine, he would be in a uphill battle. Otherwise, that would be a heckuva draft for the Bears. I wouldn't draft a QB. Hanie looks decent from all accounts. I'd go after a FB in one of the last 2 rounds. I do like the rest of your draft though.
  17. Yeah, 10am EST seems better. That way I can be watching it with my morning coffee at 7am. Why would you get up that early on a Saturday?
  18. I just got a 3rd off my bench. Since Sanchez got skipped, I only woulda had 4.
  19. I don't like ignoring the lines until pick 140. As far as the DLine goes, I think the drop off from 99 to 140 isn't too terrible, but I really could go either way. If we were to go with FS I really wouldn't want to wait on WR. If there is good value at DL at 49 I wouldn't even trade down. OLine, I'm kind of iffy on. I don't think we will take more than 8 OL. Pace, Williams, Kruetz, Omilaye, Schaffer, and Beekman are all locks, IMO. Garza pretty much is too. Buenning is a good option. So if theres a good value early I would be fine with it, and then let Buenning or Garza go. Otherwise a late round selection is good enough for me. I'd still like to draft a Guard (I'm fine waiting til 140 or whatever) and cut whoever loses the RG spot between Garza and Buenning. Would have whoever wins the job and Omiyale at OG with Beekman (with a year starting) and the rookie as backups.
  20. If he's a reach, it's not by much. He's got all kinds of upside, but is a bit raw. It seems to me he's kind of fallen through the cracks because of Florida's immense talent. He didn't produce greatly in Florida, but it's a little more forgivable when you have Andre Caldwell, Percy Harvin, Cornelius Ingram, Tim Tebow, Emanuel Moody, Chris Rainey, etc. all on the same offense. The ball can only go to so many players. If you could move back and get him at 60, though, that'd be a good value - it's risky, though. He sounds kind of like Bradley. All kinds of physical talent, but just wasn't the go-to guy so he never had a real shot at big numbers. I've heard there are some character concerns, but he seemed to move past them his past 2 seasons. It's a risk, maybe even a reach @ 49. He sounds like physically exactly the kind of WR we need though. I'm watching my fading hope for a Britt/Nicks fall-though going by the boards, and it's making me sad :( a lot like Bradley. I think Murphy's gonna be good, but it would be tough to pick him at 49 with so many other needs and him not being a sure bet.
  21. Good move for the Falcons, I think. Yes, they lost 3 FAs this offseason (Foxworth, Boley, Brooking) and should get 3 comps picks and possibly 2 in the 3rd round. If they are good again, the pick will be in the 50s next year.
  22. If that is not the case, and there is a run on receivers, I hope Angelo doesn't get desperate and overdraft a guy in his spot. If you have to take the 8th or 9th best player at a position that early in the draft, you're probably reaching. They still need help in other places. If there is a run on receivers, and offensive lineman start to slip, I would still like to see them take somebody to provide further depth, and insurance against the very significant possibility that Orlando Pace doesn't last the season, let alone into next season. Agreed. And actually, unless one of the top 6 WRs is on the board (Britt, Nicks, or Harvin are most likely to fall to 49), then they should NOT pick a WR. I like Iglesias out of OU a lot, but not at 49. I think a WR with more upside will be there at 99 anyway. And like you said, I'd rather get the 2nd best FS, 5th best DE, 3rd best DT or 5th best OL, over the #8-9 WR. What about Murphy? He's a guy with very solid physical skills who should be there. I think Louis Murphy would be a solid value at 49. I think Murphy is a reach at 49. I'd love to move back and get 2 picks around 60 and 80. Should still be able to get Murphy/Iglesias at one of those picks and a solid defensive player.
  23. I like Johnson too, but think he is too much of a reach at 49 and won't be around at 99. It will depend on what else is there. DL and WR are in play still. I don't think he's a huge reach. Everyone that's gonna be there at 49 is going to have some question marks. I could see Johnson going anywhere from 45 to 85. At this point, I'm really rooting for a DLman to slip.
  24. If that is not the case, and there is a run on receivers, I hope Angelo doesn't get desperate and overdraft a guy in his spot. 25. I like Rashad Johnson too. Bullocks is likely to be a complete disaster again, just like he was in NO. Johnson has a lot of experience and is a very smart player who can start right away. As for those WRs, I think alot depends on the Edwards/Giants trade. That could take a team out of the WR hunt. I still think this year will be like most years where WRs will slip in the draft. A lot of people are assuming Crabtree to Cleveland if they get rid of Braylon, but I don't see him going until the Raiders at the earliest. I think Maclin slides some and maybe stays on the board til the teens or even early 20s. If Seattle and Cleveland pass on Crabtree, I don't think there's a guarantee the Raiders or Jags go WR that early. Even if one of them does, there's not another team that needs a WR until the Eagles at 21. Of course, all 4 of those teams mentioned could take a WR in the early 2nd along w/ the Colts, Ravens, or Giants in late Rd 1.
