  1. REally shoulda had more points on the boards with drives starting at the 50 and opponents' 44. Cutler made some terrible throws toward the end of the half.
  2. I love the groans on fair catches.
  3. Feeling better this morning about today's game. My keys to the game: 1. Strong start on D. With the bye week, the offense will probably start a little slow. The defense is the motivating unit on this team with all the leadership and experience. If the O does start slow (0 points in 1st quarter vs. Buffalo after bye), the D has to make sure they are still in the game. 2. Pressure. Gotta get after Hasselbeck with the front 4. If you make him hold the ball long or get rid of the ball before he's ready, it's a positive for the Bears. On the other side, the Bears are going to get pressured. Really no way around it with this OL. But they have to counter that pressure with big plays and maybe force Seattle to play more coverage (which they aren't good at). 3. Turnovers. Self-explanatory. Get them. Don't give them up. 4. Briggs, Forte, Olsen. That's what was missing the last time the Bears and Seahawks played. Forte and Olsen played, but Matt only got 11 touches (8 on the ground) and Olsen had ZERO. A heavy dose of these 3 and the Bears can roll.
  4. Good point. But they did play well in GB and Minnesota on fields that weren't exactly in pristine condition. And the Soldier field turf wasn't all that great vs. Philly either when the D played well. I'd like to think that it was simply a motivation thing (or lack thereof) being that they were facing two AFC teams in games that were all but meaningless in the grand scheme of things. And when they needed to show up vs. the Jets, they did by allowing only 45 yards on 16 4th quarter plays. they seemed pretty motivated the entire week before the new england game, hell i think urlacher said they were the best team in the nfl, and then recanted after the butt whooping Well, the NE game, they just got beat. Definitely acceptable given the competition.

  6. It is. Also on NBA tv or whatever that channel is called if you have Directv.
  7. Trying to get confident about this game, but just can't. I'm still so nervous. There's really no reason the Bears shouldn't roll over the Seahawks, but there wasn't a reason to not do so in Week 6 either, when Seattle won their 1st road game in like 3 years.
  8. Interesting thought. If you do that, maybe you could have the neutral games be overseas. You could do one every other week through the season, and start getting more of an international audience. I could care less about the international audience, but I know it's something the NFL wants to tap into. I would jump at the chance to see the Bears in London or anywhere else in Europe. I'd guess they would not play all games overseas though. There may be a few more Canadian games. You could also hit other American markets that don't get NFL, using available college stadiums. I think the college town games would be a great idea. NFL in Tuscaloosa? Lincoln, NE? I think that would be exciting. Probably would use it for strictly international games though. Mexico, Europe, Japan
  9. He took the opportunity to get off a sinking ship in a city that would never accept anything but Elway II to go to a team 2 years off a Super Bowl run with an actual defense. I don't see why that makes him a dick. Hell, it's absolutely no worse that what Elway did, or what Eli did, or what several other pro athletes have done to get out of bad situations. Agreed. I don't think it makes him a prick. You don't think it makes him a prick. But it's understandable that a guy that's looking for an excuse to dislike him because he won't engage him in a conversation would use this and the other situations as a reason to think he is a prick.
  10. Except the McDaniels stuff was clearly McDaniels fault. Everything about his tenure in Denver screamed he was in over his head and incapable of dealing with others. He tried to replace his franchise QB before meeting him and then people were surprised that Cutler was pissed at him and didn't trust him? No QB is going to take that lightly. The body language is questionable, but I don't see a "not my fault" aspect to it, more like, "oh well, just have to try again later". Clearly McDaniels was at fault in Denver, but Cutler could have handled it better. And the fact that there was a rift just fuels the fire that Cutler is a prick. The media can (and did) look at it as Cutler didn't have to make 2 wrongs by wanting out and working it out as a young QB with his new young coach.
  11. It would be strange to have a Ryan on the Cowboys coaching staff. You'll get over it when he gets that D to play for him the way Ryans do. He has all the talent he can hope for on that defense. And his aggressive style would fit them to a T, IMO.
  12. To be fair, Jay does have some ugly @ss body language. I'm a huge Cutler fan, and I cringe when I see him coming off the field after an INT or 3rd down sack with his helmet half off his head with that goofy "oh well, it wasn't my fault" look. Obviously, it's well overblown and amounts to nothing as Jay's teammates like him and he never has come close to throwing his teammates (who are all less talented than him to a man) under the bus. But the media sees that and interprets he's a douche even to his teammates. Throw in the stuff with McDaniels in Denver and the media probably has every right to think he is a prick.
  13. Seems like a good fallback plan if Rivera decides to retire anytime in the near future.
  14. I'm interested to see what he looks like at the combine. Now he can (legally) get an agent and get a trainer to focus just on building strength and bulk before the combine. He had from USC's last game in December until late February to add 15lbs of muscle and put up a solid number on the bench. If he does that, he may fly up the boards.
  15. Is anyone even close to Vick in that category? People actually like Vick, as witnessed by him getting the most Pro Bowl votes of all QBs other than Tom Brady. People voting him into the Pro Bowl doesn't mean they "like" him. Jeepers, he beat Tiger Woods as the most hated man in all of sports somewhere not that long ago. Probably a bunch of old white men voting.

  17. The Seahawks might be able to blitz their way to some run stopping D. But if they don't come or time the blitzes perfectly, I think Forte runs all over them. The key will be early in the game. Teams playing in an atypical situation (bye, short week, long week, game moved due to roof collapse) usually start off slowly. The Bears defense is going to have to come out flying to the ball. The offense should try to run the ball and play field position early.
  18. Yeah, I'd stay away from Austin. Austin doesn't really seem like that great of a fit for the Bears D anyway. The Bears need more of a 3-technique, and Austin is more run stopper than quick first step and penetrate in the backfield. I think the Bears need a DT to be what Tommie was when he was healthy 4-5 years ago. And I agree, I'd rather go Pouncey in the 1st than Castonzo, as guard is the way to go.
  19. Interesting. I don't see the Bears going for back to back UNC delinquents. And I still don't see them going after a T in the 1st round, because they seem to like Omiyale, Webb, and still have Chris Williams. I really like Greg Little though. With not having played this year, he didn't really get to up his draft stock and you throw that he didn't play because of the UNC scandal and his stock got hurt. I think he's a potential 1st round talent that could be had in the 3rd or 4th. Very intriguing.
  20. What the hell is wrong with Rose?
  21. Yeah, me too. I'd really like Cutler to have a game like the 2nd Vikes game or the Jets game. I'm not asking for 81% completion like the Detroit game or 4/0 TD/INT ratio like Philly. But 55-60% completion, 22-27 attempts, 190-220 yards, a couple TDs and no more than 1 INT. I won't have very much confidence in beating GB/Atl if Cutler doesn't have a QB rating over 80.
  22. Plus, you don't sign free agents over 27 years old, unless they are rare cases like Julius Peppers and are true studs at their position and clearly not over the hill.
  23. I was looking at the boxscore from the last game and the Bears just got beat. Straight up. The outcome wasn't decided by penalties, or key turnovers, or special teams (though ST made it closer)....the Bears just got whooped up front. I don't think the Seahawks can beat the Bears again in a game this straight up talent vs. talent. The Bears can run the ball now. The Bears can better protect the QB now. Briggs will be playing. And presumably the defense will try this time. Seattle will need to get turnovers from the Bears, not get any TOs themselves. They will need to run the ball, and not get run on. They will need to make big plays on special teams and not get any on them. I don't think that happens. Not saying the Bears win by double digits, but I'm confident they will win despite being scared to death for Sunday.
  24. I actually liked Baldwin blaming his coaches for killing his numbers. I saw a lot of Pitt games and what I wanted to see from him was him take a 1st year QB under his wing and be like, "hey, throw me the ball and I'll get us a first down". Not necessarily verbally, but I wanted to be watching a Pitt game on 3rd and 6, and know the ball was going to Baldwin and he was going to make a play. I didn't see that guy that demanded the ball like a true #1 WR would. He only had 3 games of at least 6 catches. In comparison, Julio Jones has 6, including 3 over 10 catches. He also only had 3 games with 3 or fewer catches, one of which was a 49-7 bowl game blowout. AJ Green had 7 games over 6 catches and was suspended for the first 4. Floyd also had 7 with only 1 game with 3 or fewer. And all these guys are from pro-style offenses, so it's not like I'm comparing him to guys like Blackmon who played in a spread. Baldwin blaming his coaches shows me that maybe it wasn't his fault he didn't get the ball 6 times per game. I still think he will run closer to 4.6 flat than 4.4 flat, but if he's in the 4.4 range, I'd be willing to change my stance on him.
