  1. The Bears OL was pretty strange last year. Whereas in 2010, they were bad from Day 1 up until the final snap of the NFC Championship game in every facet of blocking......last year, they were actually pretty good at times run blocking (typically to the outside when they outnumbered the defense schematically) and put together a pretty decent stretch for 4-5 games of pass blocking after MNF game in Detroit. But they were still pathetic at times early in the season and after Jay went down. And despite having (I think) the most runs over 10-20 yards last year, they also had the most negative yardage run plays in the league also. The line will continue probably continue to be a problem. It's hard to think otherwise. But the hope is that they become the type of "problem" that the Giants were last year, or the Steelers were the year before that. Both those teams went to Superbowl with lackluster OLs (Giants last in rushing, Steelers top 5 worst pass blocking) due to having star QBs, with talented players to throw to, to go along with playmakers on defense. Hopefully, with Marshall and Jeffery and the new blood on offense, the Bears can fall into that category also.
  2. They don't do repeat matchups that I'm aware of. 2008 and 2009, Michigan St. and UNC played in the challenge. 06 and 07 for Ohio St. v. UNC.
  3. DAMN. UNC. How do they determine these matchups? Do they try to evenly match them based on what the teams will be like that year, or based on the previous year? It's obviously not random. It's in large part what's good for television (trying to create the juiciest matchups possible without creating too big of mismatches) and also who was at home/road the previous year. In this case, Duke, UNC, and NC State are supposed to be the class of the ACC next year. Both IU and Duke played on the road last year, so they were unlikely to play each other. NC State just played IU last year, so UNC was the only logical choice. As you can see, both the other two got road matchups against two of the other elite teams in the Big 10 in Ohio State and Michigan. Hoosiers non-conference schedule is going to be tough. UNC and Butler now set in stone. A top 10 and at worst borderline top 25. Probably going to play UCLA (top 25 team) and Georgetown in Brooklyn (assuming them over Georgia due to history between IU/G'town). The UK game is still possible. Then there's conference play. Should be a tested team, that's for sure.
  4. DAMN. UNC. How do they determine these matchups? Do they try to evenly match them based on what the teams will be like that year, or based on the previous year? It's obviously not random. I believe it's a little of both with no published 'formula'. UNC just lost most of their starters to the NBA didn't they? It should be a cake walk for the Hoo Hoo Hoosiers at the Hall of Calls. Probably won't even be within 10. Yeah, let's go with that. I was kinda hoping for a re-match vs. NC State. I think IU and NCSt are basically at the same points in their programs. Really bad teams a few years ago that turned it around quicker than expected. Last year, going into the game, I thought the winner might sneak in the 7-10 seed range in the NCAAs, with the other just missing out. This year, they are a couple near locks for getting to Sweet 16, with a shot at a final 4 both.

  6. If it were just about Anya, I completely agree with you. As Exile said though, I don't know if it is all about Anya. It could be because Crean liked what he did with Creek and Oladipo. It could be just his general contacts in the region. I would certainly hope Crean wouldn't give out something as important as an assistant coach primarily for one player. Even putting aside the ethics question, Crean doesn't need to do things like that to recruit players. As for the Roth situation, I'm pretty sure that you don't get approval for an injury waiver until after your senior year, no matter when the injury occurred. So Roth didn't count in regards to the oversign. I feel bad for him, because he's done everything asked of him. But a 5th year on scholarship would just be a bonus, not a guarantee. I hope he gets to play somewhere next year, whether it's for Indiana as a walk on (not likely) or somewhere else. Wait, what is the Roth situation? He's joining Robin Ventura's coaching staff :clapping:
  7. Yeah, he's terrible defensively. He throws like a kid.
  8. It was. Pretty sure he took a ball to the warning track in his last AB. Didn't realize that both Cameron and Bret Boone went deep twice in the 1st inning. And they batted 2nd and 3rd, so they went back-to-back twice before the White Sox even got to bat.
  9. They absolutely were not. They were the 6th seed in the west. They did nothing in the playoffs. They were 1 win away from having the 5th highest point total in the NHL. They were good enough to do something in the playoffs.

  11. May have been the hardest hit ball I have ever seen.
  12. Completely flat chested in the black sports bra, but popping out of the cheerleading uni. Hmm.
  13. Pretty sure that's Devin Hester. And by pretty sure I mean definitively.
  14. Does Youk have anything left in the tank? Now 33. Looks like he's going to miss 40-60 games for the 3rd straight year. Can't really handle 3B defensively well enough anymore. Doesn't hit for as much power as he did a few years ago. He can still give you a decent low .800s OPS at 1B, but if I was a GM I wouldn't give up anything of value for him.
  15. I'm Ok with a minor overhaul of the team. I think the Bulls could get a developmental big late in the 1st to replace Asik. Maybe a Festus Ezeli or Fab Melo, who are similar all D, no offense type players. Brewer and Korver can go and can be easily replaced. CJ probably has to stay because of Rose's injury. I'd probably look to either move some players or draft picks around to get another young talent that can score. Someone mentioned Nick Young recently, someone like him would be ideal but I don't know how feasible. But the league is full of guys in the 6'4"-6'8" range that can score and get their own shots (though the Bulls have none). If all goes well, the Bulls can look to trade Watson or Butler (depending on depth at SG and SF) and get another piece of the puzzle or draft picks.
  16. Yet the one on the far left is so wonderful.
  17. What about against the Astros in Milwaukee?
  18. Those that he had in place were pretty important pieces, and he filled out his roster seemingly taking a page from Billy Beane. And lets not forget that 2 months after landing the GM job he added David Ortiz for next to nothing, and I doubt that even Theo expected that he'd become what he did, and that's not the type of move that can be easily be replicated. I don't understand your point. My point was that Theo overturned most of the roster by his 2nd season for what was already a 90-win team, and that he will surely do the same with a 70-win team. And you point out that he had important pieces in place? That's saying the same thing, basically. The type of moves aren't really up for debate in this thread. The question was straight forward, "how many pieces in place for next playoff team?"
  19. Brett Jackson hitting 5th? 4-5-6 is Rizzo, Jackson, Vitters.
