  1. I wanna cry right now. Illegal [expletive] hit!
  2. Don't agree. He was running full speed and had to turn completely around to even get an attempt on it. That was a really tough catch in this weather. Cutler missed the throw though, clearly.
  3. Can they review for a whistle?
  4. Wow, he actually didn't tackle him. Briggs did.
  5. Gotta be [expletive] kidding me
  6. I'm so hyped for this game. I know the hope was to split the next 2 games, and the SF game is more important for conference tiebreaker purposes, but man I really want to win this game. Win this one and the split is the worst case scenario. Lose and people will talk all week about how the Bears aren't good enough. I'm probably setting myself up to be disappointed this evening, but I can't wait to see highlight shows if the Bears win this. The Falcons lost so the "best team in the NFL" label is up for grabs.
  7. That's pretty big, but I still think the Cody injury is bigger. Texans will still use their other TEs. Bears prepared for Daniels. Hopefully they don't change their gameplan last minute. Houston sure isn't going to. I don't see how it matters if the Bears prepared for Daniels. He's better than their other TE, so that's all good. Bad weather has to benefit the Bears. Windy conditions surely benefit our kicking game, big time. Gould is the best at this type of situation. Gould is the best, but Shayne Graham isn't bad himself. He's right behind Gould in FG accuracy all-time (IIRC) and he played a while in Cincy on the Ohio River, so he's played in some wind before.
  8. Bears inactives: A. Jeffery, D. Sanzenbacher, E. Williams, M. Toeaina, B. Eldridge, A. Okoye, C. Ozougwu.

  10. Bad weather has to favor the Bears right? Houston is built like a cold/bad weather team, but they don't play in it very much. And the Bears cause TOs which is usually compounded by weather.
  11. Yeah, this is stupid. There's plenty of people who are rich and are annoying. Doesn't even mean they aren't good at their job. Definitely doesn't mean they are stupid. In fact, the opposite is probably true because they are indeed rich and successful. Sometimes people do what they have to do to make money/sell whatever they are selling. Oh and there's a pretty important football game on tonight. Let's talk about that instead.
  12. I don't care if they are keeping pace in the division or not, I'm glad Minnesota is beating Detroit. I freaking hate the Lions. I can't wait to go back to the days where they aren't good enough to care about.
  13. Well that was fast. Should be a top 5-10 recruiting class when all is said and done.
  14. Compared to who? Their perception where they've occupied 5 spots in the top 10 all season and already have a bye to the Championship? I was going to make a comment about this earlier. Take a team like South Carolina. They are #8 despite being blown out by 33 points to florida, losing to LSU as well. They did blowout Georgia, which was impressive, but outside of that win, they havent beaten anyone. Look at the rest of their wins.. Vandy (5-4), ECU (6-4), UAB (3-7), Missouri (5-5), Kentucky (1-9), Tennessee (4-6), Arkansas (4-6). You'd think that a team playing in the SEC with all these top 5 teams would have at least 2-3 wins over ranked teams if they are #8 in the country. Georgia is similar to South Carolina. They beat a good team (Florida) and got blown out by 28 points for their only loss to South Carolina. Other than that, their wins are over Buffalo (3-7), Missouri (5-5), Florida Atlantic (3-7), Vandy (5-4), Tennessee (4-6), Kentucky (1-9), Mississippi (5-4) and are on their way to beating Auburn (2-8). Their last 2 games are somehow against Georgia Southern (1-AA) and Georgia Tech (5-5) then the SEC title game most likely. How do you get through the supposedly impossible SEC with 1 win over a ranked team until the championship game? Yet LSU and South Carolina are 2 loss teams in the top 10. Immediately after them are an undefeated team (going into the week) and 3 one loss teams from BCS conferences (Florida State, Oregon State and Clemson). I don't necessarily think the SEC is vastly overrated, but I'm starting to think it is overrated to some degree. Of course they're overrated. They've won the last how many championships as a conference, including playing themselves in the championship game last year. And the fact that every good team in the conference has a top 10 win should say something. They are literally beating each other up. KState only has 1 win over a top 10, and that team isn't in the top 10 anymore (Oklahoma).
  15. Chisenhall and Delgado (and the like) are young talent. A couple guys like that need to be acquired. It doesn't have to be a franchise cornerstone like Rizzo. But even Rizzo was had for only Andrew Cashner. There are teams that have young players at positions that are blocked for them. If the Cubs can step in and give them something to fill another hole, they can trade from their "surplus" of talent at a position the Cubs may need. Rizzo is the perfect example of this. The Cubs have plenty of tradeable assets. They probably don't have the ability to get a can't miss stud, maybe not even a prospect as good as Rizzo was last year at this time. But they have to find a way to get a future piece.
  16. Notre Dame is a draw on its own. If they're one of two undefeated teams, there's no chance they get left out of the NC. They are a draw, but are they one of the top 2 teams? The game last year shows that people want the best 2 teams in it. I don't think ND is in that 2. Also by the end of the season, Oklahoma will be the only real quality win for K-State. After the way ND handled Oklahoma, if they beat USC on the last game of the season and go undefeated, there's no way they get jumped by a 1-loss team. They're undefeated on a tougher schedule than any SEC team. Eh. Stanford, USC, Oklahoma vs. LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia, Miss St. with Michigan in common for both teams. or Bama, South Carolina, Florida I think Bama and Georgia have had tougher top ends of the schedule, though I'll give ND the edge for lack of true cupcake games. Those 3 teams UGA are going to play are better than anyone on NDs schedule. LSU and Georgia are better for Bama than anyone on NDs schedule also.
  17. Texas will likely be a 9 win team when they play K-State. That'd be a quality win. Eh. I think 10 wins, top 15 team is quality. Texas is borderline both.
  18. There's no way IMO that two major conference teams with good schedules would get jumped by a team with 1 loss. Especially one that won't end up having much better of a schedule if it's better at all. ND isn't in a conference.
  20. Oregon is the most likely to lose of the undefeateds with Stanford and Oregon St left, not to mention the only team to potentially play in a conference championship of the 3. If it's K-State and Notre Dame undefeated, someone really has a chance to jump one with a loss. I don't think anyone wants to see that game.
  21. Totally agree. Verne and Gary always do Yeah, what the hell? They seem so disappointed when aTm does something positive.
  22. But you don't build for 2 years from now by thinking about what may happen over the next 2 years then pulling out a fury of moves in a 2-6 month span in 2 years. Gotta take whats available now. And what is rumored to be available now is a lot of young talent. If in 2 years you want to flip that young talent for a Stanton or Price, then that's fine. But the key is amassing enough young talent to make this an option in the first place. The Cubs have a nice start, but they aren't at the point yet where they have the ability to deal from the group they do have.
  23. The point I was making is the same point you make. The Cubs aren't going to be able to call up Baez, Soler, Almora, a couple starters; sign a couple of big time FAs; and trade the rest of their minor league talent to magically make a contending team in 2015. Signing 3 FA pitchers to 1-3 year deals isn't going to help matters in 2015 very much. They aren't going to get a Vizcaino or Villanueva for all of them plus getting a huge package for Garza at the deadline. You can't just conjure up a Rizzo, but there are plenty of teams that have tons of young pitching and may be willing to deal from that to either get salary relief or bats in return (the Cubs minor league strength). Last year the Cubs were able to add Rizzo and the 2 aforementioned players as potential key parts of the future. Maybe even add Wood in there. They also took a couple wildcards like DeJesus, Stewart, and Maholm. My point was that Villanueva, McCarthy and Liriano may make this team look decent on paper, but it also likely means they didn't add any key parts of the future for the rotation. If 2015 is the target year, the Cubs need to keep adding pieces to the MAJOR LEAGUE level to get there rather than waiting to do something of substance until then. Tons of turnover isn't going to work. Calling up tons of prospects, even if they are blue chippers isn't going to work.
