  1. how do we figure out what type he would be and what each type fetches? even if a type B they get a sandwich pick, no? Probably all a moot point because in order for the Cubs to get picks, they would have to offer Walker arbitration after this season, possibly putting the Cubs in a position to bring him back next season (assuming of course so one else signs him). I'm not so sure the Cubs would be willing to do that. For what ever reason, it seems like Hendry had been looking to trade him ever since he picked up his option before this season started, but just couldn't get a deal he wanted.
  2. Finally........This organization might be bringing in some talent impact talent from Venezuela and possibly the Dominican Republic. Linky http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=2505742 # 5 Larry Suarez......Might have a possible agreement worked out with the Cubs
  3. what are the odds that Ramirez doesn't come out for the top of the 5th.......anyone else want to bet he strained a muscle trying to stretch that single?
  4. i remember that all they gave up was polanco and bud smith ](*,) Why must you cause me pain? Mike Timlin was also in that deal too as I recall. Still a steal, but the Phillies let Timlin go.
  5. I'd much rather the Cubs try and find the next Miguel Cabrera than trade half the farm system to get the current version. Venezuela has been a nice source of talent for the Cubs in the past.......Zambrano & Cedeno. I wish they would spend more effort trying to sign international talent. Unfortunately, someone has either kidnapped our scout in Venezuela (Ortega) or the organization has decided to not spend money top $ to sign international talent. Really a shame, because the organization has the $ but I guess they've felt their money is more wisely spent by offering multi year deals to Neifi Perez and Glendon Rusch.
  6. I was watching the O's on TV a week or so ago, and came in midstream (so I couldn't quite get the entire conversation) but they were interviewing Terry Crowley who had said that they made a small adjustment and it has made huge strides for Corey at the plate. He chuckled when he said that he was surprised that no one had mentioned this adjustment to him previously (Cubs).
  7. Seriously, has Hendry made any decent moves being in the seller position in previous years? I can't recall that there have been any good ones. I seem to recall him moving Flash to Houston a few years ago for a couple of Houston A ball pitchers, but I don't believe any of them panned out for us. I suppose there may have been other moves too, but I'm not that confident he'll be able to get the right prospect back in deal right now.
  8. Seome good nuggets coming out of BA's blog from Jim Callis. States that # 2, #3, and #4 have all agreed in principal to pre-draft deals...Reynolds, Longoria and Lincoln respectively.
  9. BA is saying the same thing in their blog Is the blog a premium thing now too? I'm on BA's website but I don't see it. There's a small link on the mid right hand side of the home page under "quick hits".
  10. BA is saying the same thing in their blog
  11. No, but Conor Jackson and Nick Markakis seem to be doing ok. Man, I wouldn't mind having either of those guys right now. ARI had a nice haul in the first round that year. They took Quentin late in the 1st right after Jackson.
  12. His .406 OBP just doesn't fit in on this club.
  13. Since Willis and Zito's names are being linked with the Mets for Milledge, I highly doubt a rookie pitcher will bring back Milledge. The Mets need a reliable top 3 horse to win the WS this season since they want to win right now. If I'm the Mets I don't talk about Milledge to the Cubs unless they are willing to part with Zambrano. I wouldn't want to deal Z, but he is going to get very expensive very soon. If I could get Milledge and Pelfrey I think that would be something for the Cubs to look at. The Cubs would probably have to expand the deal to also get Pelfrey, but I'd really like to get both of those guys from the Mets.
  14. If he can make it past Baltimore with the # 9 pick, BA (in their mock draft) is projecting the Cubs will take him if he is there at # 13.
  15. Sure he will. He helped us get to the playoffs in 98'
  16. Too bad Neifi at worst couldn't get Jones over to 3B.
  17. 8 pitch inning for Tomko
  18. As I recall, KC offered the same 3 year deal with the same $$$ (perhaps a few dollars more) and Jones chose to come to Chicago.
  19. You may also want to consider total pitching wins as well. Pitching wins as a Cub - 126 Pitching wins as a Brave - 194 I'd love to see him go in with a Cub hat, but I believe that's another stat that might garner some consideration leaning in ATL's favor.
  20. CBS Sportsline is way behind....still has dlee batting....Yahoo isn't much better - 1-0 count on Barrett
  21. Probably just an oversight on his part. I believe Williamson pitched a third of an inning yesterday.
