  1. Here's the scouting report on Brian when he was drafted in 2002 from BA.. I really hope it's just taking him a little longer to get adjusted to High A, but I'm starting to get concerned. Perhaps he'll need another year of High A and rebound next year, similar to what Scott Moore has been able to do thus far this season. That scouting report is making me a bit nervous though.
  2. Anyone know what happened to him? He was signed as a 3B out of the Dominican a couple of years ago and was lauded for having great tools, but he couldn't put it together. I'm wondering if the Cubs are trying to possibly convert him to a pitcher in Mesa, since there is an A. Francisco on their roster. Same guy??
  3. He traded Capellan, one of his top young minor league arms for Kolb.
  4. Yep. I'd never make a trade with Scheurholtz that involves pitching. He always seems to know which pitchers to acquire, and which pitchers to trade.
  5. Well, two out of three ain't bad.
  6. If they know the 1-2 combination at the top of the lineup is a problem, why haven't they put Walker and Barrett up there already instead of Neifi and Corey? FWIW, and probably not much....ESPN Insider Jerry Crasnick just posted in his on-line chat that he believes Kotsay will sign an extension prior to the trade deadline that will keep him in Oakland. ...And, he said that he's heard that Hendry is a huge Austin Kearns fan.
  7. IIRC, there isn't much outside of Brian Giles in the Free Agent market. Using a very loose definition of "stud", here's some outfielders heading into their 5th and 6th year: Adam Dunn 5th Brady Clark 5th Milton Bradley 6th Eric Byrnes 5th Bobby Kielty 5th Aubrey Huff(6th year, but guaranteed 7.5 mil as part of previous extension) Brad Wilkerson 5th Austin Kearns 5th Craig Wilson 6th Thanks. Some of the usual suspects that have been previously been thrown around in this forum......Dunn, Huff, Kearns, and even Wilkerson. Dunn and Wilkerson would be nice of course. Kearns has had trouble staying healthy. One young guy who I like and will be a first year arbitration eligible next year is Kevin Mench from TEX. TEX might be inclined to deal him for some pitching. I'm not sure though that he would be that great of an upgrade over Dubois in the long run though.
  8. Hoops, I'd like a big bat in the corner OF position. Are they any big time bats available via FA this offseason? My recollection was no. I recall that Berkman was a possibility but he re-upped with Houston. So that leads me to the next thought. Are there any 5th and 6th year arbitration studs out there that poor teams might try to deal off because they are cost prohibitive to resign?
  9. Link for more Well, it's just not our year. ESPN just broke in with an update on the Yankees / Bo Sox game and said that Prior has a slight fracture in his elbow.
  10. Bruce, What is the real deal with Prior's injury? Are the Cubs, as they say, taking precautionary measures with the Achilles or is there something else going on that we don't know about? When do you believe it's realistic to anticipate his return? Thanks.
  11. Way to go Hoops !!! Enjoy the convention !
