  1. Did Remmy clear waivers, or did the BoSox put a claim in for him? By your last sentence I assume he cleared. I was listening to the Wilmington Blue Rocks (BOS High A) earlier today, and the announcers said that the Bo Sox did put in a claim for him. They found it interesting, because the Yankees have made it known that they would be putting in claims / blocking to keep Boston from making any improvements to their roster. I guess the Yanks doesn't think too highly of Remmy.
  2. Like those stats Fred. Nice
  3. I'm really liking Murton. Nice to see him take a walk so that at the very least, Maddux won't have to lead off next inning.
  4. Yeah, he posted earlier a while back... he's skeptical like many of us are.
  5. Obviously Gammons has been known to be wrong about trades before, but he just indicated in his chat on ESPN.com (going on right now) that the latest out of Cincinatti is that Dunn " IS NOT" going anywhere.
  6. I think your last sentence is on to something. If the Reds can rehabilitate Corey in the second half, they might be able to flip Corey for another starting pitcher this offseason...
  7. Wagner just walked in Werth. Dodgers up 4-3. Bases stillloaded two outs
  8. Darn Cuse, I got excited when I saw this thread jump to the top of page....thinking that maybe another big trade was coming down ...maybe someone should modify the date of this thread with yesterday's date...just a suggestion....
  9. BA has Felix rated as the 17th best prospect in baseball in a mid season review ....He's the only Cub to make the Top 25.
  10. Don't know if her information is completely up to date. :? He's not ready for a game yet for sure. The article from InsidetheIvy.com said he was just starting his throwing program again. It should be a while before he's game ready. It sure would be nice to get an update on Guzman. Initial diagnosis (see above) was that he had a fore arm strain. BA just did an update on the Top 100 prospects (mid year review) and John Manuel claims that he's down due to a shoulder issue? Hmmmmm
  11. Wouldn't Boston make some sense? BOS can't be thrilled with Kevin Millar at 1B. Maybe PHL could sweeten the pot for BOS to take more of Thome's money by also throwing Wagner into the deal.
  12. That was the rumor that Sutcliffe floated last night during the Sox / Yankee game (Yankees interested). I imagine they might be a bit more interested now since Wang, Pavano, and Brown are all on the DL. $60MM for a starting rotation just doesn't go as far as it used to, huh? LOL
  13. Nice. 5 runs on a day thus far where Lee and Ramirez haven't contributed.
  14. I don't even read the Trib and Sun Times Cub articles anymore.
  15. I believe Jon posted early in the thread that Murton will get one more start over the weekend, and Hollandsworth will get the other.
  16. Who, actually just made his first start of the season for the Twins A ball affiliate within the last week. Still battling with elbow soreness.
  17. I knew you were a big Kelton fan......So Murton's your guy now, huh?
  18. Already looking like a very nice move by Hendry.
  19. Mortimer your brother is not well.......we should call an ambulance.... Eff him.
  20. He surely did build a mess didn't he? Ramirez and Lee in the corner infielder spots just hasn't worked out. Neither has HIS idea of Dempster in the closer position. Of course that recent trade of Hawkins for Aardsma and Jerome Williams....that's been a real clunker too. What is the record of the Cubs TEAM? What has Williams or Aardsma brought to this TEAM? How do you know it was Hendry's idea to use Dempster as a closer? About 20 people here suggested it last year. When one evaluates the Cubs TEAM one needs to look at the big picture. IMO Hendry hasn't done enough and I think the results pretty much speak for themselves. I don't disagree with you that he hasn't done enough as you suggest, but he has done a heck of a lot of good things, and I don't believe his performance warrants his being fired. I'm well aware of what the big picture is.....winning a world championship. Problem is, only one team can do that, and he has gotten us close. I've seen a lot of bad Cub GM's through the years, and IMO, Hendry isn't one of them.

  22. I think you run the risk of re-creating a Corey Patterson situation all over again. Many of Pie's skills are still raw and IMO he needs to further his development. I'd like to see him in AAA next season.
