  1. Heck, I'm just glad he's off to a good start. IIRC last year he didn't start heating up until May/June
  2. Didn't we have Lohse at one time? Aguilera trade?
  3. Wow. Flash gives up a two run homer to McCann and the Phillies could be on their way to their 2nd bullpen miscue loss in a row. They really need help in their pen. 2-2
  4. Beaten by 3 min. See Transaction thread.
  5. I can't figure him out either. What happened to his change-up? I believe Tim made mention of it earlier, but it used to be a strong pitch, and he's either ditched it or just doesn't feel comfortable throwing it right now. Just mixing in a few change-ups, I would think would do wonders for him.
  6. He addressed it today (2/9) in AskBA He confirmed that the Cubs will pick #48 instead of #31 in the Supplemental First Round. All teams losing Type A FA's will select before teams that lost Type B FA's.
  7. That's not a bad guess. Maybe it's Samardjia committing to a big baseball contract?
  8. and the Padres just got a Sandwich first round draft choice. Klesko was rated higher than a "C"? He sure hasn't played much baseball the last 3 years. Yep. He is a "B" http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/askba/263003.html
  9. and the Padres just got a Sandwich first round draft choice.
  10. Per Rosenthal of Fox Sports http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6265388
  11. Great. He'll fit right in on our team. .317 OBP last season.
  12. Nice post Craig. Well thought out.
  13. Don't see it posted anywhere, but FoxSports is now saying that Meche is very close to signing with KC.
  14. Huh, I haven't seen this guys name (Hendrickson) mentioned until now... a snippet from a new article from NY Newsday...
  15. or is this a case of you overvaluing other teams prospects? Floyd has been terrible the past couple years at AAA (although behind the league for his age) Yep. The Phils soured on Floyd bigtime. His signature curve isn't the pitch that it once was. His fastball has lost some of it's life and he's had trouble locating it. They sent him the the AZ Fall league where he struggled this fall. He needed a change of scenery.
  16. Wait...didn't the White Sox trade him to Philadelphia for Jim Thome? Yes
  17. I asked Jim Callis this very question in his chat today on ESPN.com and he said Lilly. He went on to say that Meche's injury history concerns him.
  18. Or the Dodgers. I believe that if the Cubs really thought they had a shot at getting him, they would overpay him just like they'll be doing with Meche & Lilly.
  19. Picked this up from a recently posted article in New York Newsday regarding the possibility of Zito to the Mets... Ugh 4 / 44 for Lilly. I realize we've got to overpay to get picthing via FA, but $11MM per season for Lilly. Just wow.
  20. If I'm Krivsky, why would I trade him to a team in my own division?
  21. Craig - nice going. Your're absolutely correct. You may have already seen that Jim Callis in his 12/2 "Ask BA" indicated that the Cubs will indeed get the 31st pick. TB & KC did not have any departing FA's that were eligible for draft pick compensation, so the Cubs are locked in at #31 in addition to having the # 3 overall pick. The sandwich round appears that it will be an entire full round (of close to 30 picks) once all the picks are awarded. Washington can't be too pleased with the compensation they're receiving for Soriano. In addition to their sandwich pick, our 2nd round pick going to WAS could be close to #60-65 overall once all the comp. picks have been awarded.
