  1. Oh no, really? This is terrible news!
  2. Guys, walk me through this. I'm not at liberty to see. Cubs looking good?
  3. I'm not too worried about the Brewers winning out as they only have 2 win streaks of 5 or more for the entire season, unless I am miscounting.
  4. Why were you eating with the enemy? Woosh.
  5. I was at a Sox game the other day and had a fabulous lobster springroll with an Asian marinated flank steak and truffled mashed potatoes. Fabulous.
  6. Baseball related zings! Great work. This post is as great as a perfectly executed hit and run!
  7. lol. From the ESPN comments section:
  8. People blow this booing crap way out of proportion. He was booed by a bunch of people who were rooting for the Cubs to win an important game. His performance was terrible and the way he crumbled in that inning was awful. Z let everyone down and they let him know about it. It's not like the fans are now holding some grudge against Z. I'm sure he'll be lustily cheered the next time he pitches. I'm also sure there will continue to be a large amount of people wearing #38 in the crowd today, tomorrow and the next few years. Carlos blew it out of proportion like many people do, but honestly, it's not that big of a deal. Carlos is plenty supported by Cubs fans. Maybe booing is lame, but it's an emotional reaction, it's going to happen, and Carlos needs to get some thicker skin.
  9. Seems unlikely that someone would do that, doesn't it?
  10. Why do people get so defensive when others rightfully point out that he is not awful? No one has done this I agree. Still the trade doesn't make a whole lot of sense and Trachsel isn't good.
  11. Why do people get so defensive when others rightfully point out that Trachsel isn't very good?
  12. This actually isn't so bad. I don't mind him getting a spot start here and there to keep the main guys fresh for a potential playoff push. Replacing anyone besides Marquis in the rotation is silly though.
  13. I do, the Cubs starting pitching can't consistently go deep in games, and they picked up a guy who has averaged over 204 innings per year in his career. They need a 6th starter anyway, one (Trachsel or Marhsall) goes to the bullpen. Marshall can go to the bullpen and spend the last month learning how to be a reliever, get used to warming up in a hurry and then if the Cubs make the playoffs, they have 2 somewhat experienced lefty relievers. This trade is not exciting and definitely not worth all the hulabaloo in this thread. 2 minor league players with little future on the Cubs for a guy that may help this year, or at least Piniella and Hendry believe he will. Big deal. I guess what I don't understand is why we traded for a starter who is inferior to every starter on our team. I don't care who we gave up. Why move Marshall to the pen and replace him with someone who isn't as good as him? It doesn't make sense so that's why I don't get it.
  14. Yeah lol didnt ryan harvey also go to highschool? case closed.
  15. Rogers Hornsby. +1 +1 I wasn't alive yet, but from what I've read, Rajah was an amazing ballplayer. Ya, you're a badass if you put a season like this: .403/.489/.756, 210 OPS+, 39 HR, 143 RBI Eh, talk to me about times when they weren't playing with rocks and tree branches.
  16. Yeah, we have to be getting close to the salary cap.
  17. Ugh, I'm going to have to make quite an adjustment moving from a 10 to 12 team league. I have no way to gague this stuff. I'm way behind this year. Be right back.
  18. Five or six plays a game on offense? Um...I'm thinking like 5 or 6 plays all YEAR if that? Is my memory failing me here? they don't qualify the last part of that sentence with "on offense", though. At best then, it's a very poorly worded sentence. true, very confusing. I think the 5-6 is referring to special teams plays. I think he was saying he was on the field 5-6 times a game.
  19. I honestly think most of the negativity stems from Grossman. It all starts from there and the rest is mostly filler. Didn't Improve=Grossman is still there.
  20. Building the good vibes, buddy. Building positive energy.
