  1. Ask and ye shall receive. Yeah, he pitched great after the 1st and he's not been all that good in any spring trainings as of yet to begin with. Maybe he's just a slow starter. Wound up throwing 72 pitches, then went to the pen and threw 15 more. About all we can ask for. There are going to be some bumps along the way for sure. I'm certainly expecting an ugly start or two from Cashner this season, but Quade and Riggins seem like they see his potential and are willing to put up with some growing pains.
  2. You guys are watching on ESPN. What do you expect?
  3. Cue the dominating start against the Cubs at some point during this season.
  4. That broadcast was just pathetic. I don't think any of them knew what they were talking about. It's hard to follow them when it's a constant stream of babbling about stuff completely irrelevant to the game.
  5. This ESPN broadcast has been abysmal. Why do they think they need 3 announcers? 2 is more than enough, yet they bring in a guest almost every inning. Believe it or not, a few seconds of silence is acceptable. Also, I don't need to see the guy being interviewed to know he's being interviewed. How about showing me the darn game? And finally, would it kill you to actually talk about the game once in a while?
  6. Some people have been overreacting, but given the choice between Hill and Max Ramirez for backup catcher, it's blatantly obvious who the better choice is.
  7. Why is Looper still in camp?
  8. Pena's looking good today. Colvin and Soriano have both mashed the ball, just missing homers. This is what we like to see!
  9. I'm shocked that they're using the DH with Zambrano pitching.
  10. Castro just murdered another ball for a 2-run blast.
  11. Pena's now 2-2. His average is above the Mendoza Line.
  12. Who are the most likely candidates to make the bullpen? Marmol, Marshall, and Wood are obviously in. Who else has the best shot of making it?
  13. Yeah. I'd like to see the team playing better, but Spring Training records don't mean crap. Last year, the Indians went 19-9, the Reds went 12-16, the Rangers went 10-19, and the Yankees went 13-15.
  14. He got a hit and an RBI. Yay! On a fly ball, no less. Huzzah! World Series here we come! \:D/
  15. Could have been a lot worse though. He did a good job of limiting the damage.
  16. Add a double to Colvin's day. He's a triple away from the cycle.
  17. Colvin's looked good so far today, a homer and an RBI single.
  18. I honestly wouldnt take anything from Spring Training appearences, especially ones in late feb/early march. I highly doubt he's approaching hitters anything like how he plans to in the regular season at this point. However, if Z had been getting shelled, there would be people flipping out on here.
  19. No errors through the first 2 innings so far today...
  20. If 86 wins is all it's going to take to win the Central, I see no reason why the Cubs can't win it. I'm not expecting them to win, but I don't think it's impossible either.
  21. Hey. The last time the Cubs finished as bad as or worse than they did last season, they won the division the next year. Is there a more unpredictable sport than baseball?
  22. How do you figure? Aramis, yeah, you can make that argument, but Pena really doesn't have to improve all that much to be producing runs from the #3 spot. Yeah. Even with his overall crappy numbers last year, Pena still drove in 84 runs. I'm pretty sure that would have lead the Cubs in RBIs.
  23. If he pitches like he did in the second half, he probably won't have many reasons to throw a hissy fit.
