  1. Not the slam I expected, but we'll take it! Let's hope Cliff is ok...
  2. So far, Sori is right when he said May would be a much better month for him!
  3. D-Lee this month's A-Rod? Discuss...
  4. A-Ram doesnt get full blame. At least he had an RBI. Look at Soriano... the $136 mil we're paying for our leadoff man... He only has 1 lone RBI this month... or Murton, who has totally lost his patience and discipline and Duke was the guy he could show himself off against like he's done in the past. yeah, a good hitter hits .300, so it's not like you can expect anyone to deliver all or even most of the time in that spot. There were other opportunities lost, the only player on the team to draw a walk was Theriot, Soriano continues to not produce, Murton looks bad, and everybody continues to put balls in play on the first or second pitch. I understand what you're saying but we need our best hitters to start coming through in the clutch. The way I see it, all games come down to a handful of plays. It's the teams who can take advantage of the situation that win the majority of the time. Let's look at the White Sox. As much as I hate to admit it, they have a team of players who know what it takes to win. We have a much better BA and a better ERA, but they have a better record, because although guys like Dye or Konerko are hitting 220, their hits usually drive in runs.
  5. Nice to see the Cubs are back to their typical losing ways. Another example of this team simply not being able to deliver in the clutch. All we needed was a single by A-Ram to wrap this one up. Instead, we blow another solid performance by Rich Hill
  6. Forget everything I said about you Izzy, you ROCK! Now go sit back on the bench!
  7. Let's go get a State Farm run or two...
  8. Come on Demp....GB DP. We need to win this game for Marquis after the way he pitched.
  9. It's been this way for years... Yep. When they look good, they look reaaally good. When it's bad, it's ugly bad. The Cubs have scored 9 or more 4 times this season, and they've scored 1 or less 4 times. Yes, but we've been in most of those low-run scoring games.
  10. Tomorrow's an offday. Which just proves all the more that if they do tank, this win will be meaningless. What if they get tanked? i don't think i can handle getting demolished by the cardinals again Yeah, we really got crushed last weekend, what was the combined score, something like 16-14 Cubs, man I hope we don't get slapped around like that again...
  11. And they win last night on an infield single and a wild pitch...
  12. you have to respect how they always seem to come through in the clutch to win games. They find ways to manufacture runs, their pitchers recover from poor starts of games and end up with wins, even their .200 hitters find a way to get the job done. After tonight, they will be 11-8 with five regulars with sub .225 batting averages....amazing
  13. Do explain......is it Lou's fault that Soriano only has one measly RBI on the season, or that D-Lee is still awaiting his first HR, or Zambrano is pitching more like a fourth starter....or the fact that we could somehow have two .330+ hitters and still not be able to score runs. Come on, the talent is there for this team to be winning games, the players need to be accountable.
  14. Maybe it's the fact that the Brewers have the exact opposite record as the Cubs (that's a good thing), or the fact that Miller Park is actually closer to my house in Libertyville than Wrigley (another positive), or it could possibly have something to do with the fact that the Brew Crew actually knows how to win baseball games, but I'm seriously considering putting the Cubs on the team DL and watching a winning baseball team for a change...
  15. The Cubs must lead the league in useless hitting. We get hits when no one is on and can't do anything with runners in scoring position.
  16. Wow, did I just miss Izzy's first hit of the season? Where was that with the bases loaded when we really needed one?
  17. Yes, it's a curse that we have an incompetent GM who spends millions of dollars on an unhealthy, out-of-shape middle reliever who sucks. I also now know why Hawk likes Piniella so much. He's a carbon copy of Guillen. Micro-manages every part of the game and runs out of players in situations like these. Yeah let's blame the manager when we can't seem to come up with a clutch single to save our flippin lives.
  18. We are the champions of one thing at least.....finding new ways to lose games. In the past four days, we've had a base runner thrown out on a walk and a batter called out after a HBP, unreal. I'd like to think it can't get any worse, but then again it's the Cubs.
  19. I sure hope not, because Izzy has got to go. Hard to believe this guy was an all-star.
