  1. Reasons why that should be a good bet: 1. We have four run producers who balance each other out and help us avoid losing streaks. 2. We have good depth available to supplement the starting rotation if need be (Hill, Marshall, Lieber, Hart). Not to mention 2-3 guys capable of closing games. 3. You can bet that Hendry will be both motivated and capable of making 1-2 big moves at the trading deadline. Any investment that's made would be more than paid off with a World Series title on the northside.
  2. Looks like my W flag will be flying proudly for another day.... GO Cubs GO! Let's get Demp to 8 tomorrow night...
  3. WTG GEO! I guess that's one way to break out of your slump!
  4. That's how you win a baseball game folks...We've manufactured runs the last two innings. Me likey this time a lot...
  5. Well at least Lou had the right idea...too bad Howry couldn't get the job done. Come on Eyre, let's shut the door and give it to Woody in the 9th!
  6. Not much chance of that happening....The Cubs have at least another 5 runs in them.
  7. Z actually had some help blowing the game yesterday--or I should say lack of help in the field. But you're correct about Marquis, very nice job tonight. Could he be turning the corner?
  8. Guess this closer thing is working out okay for Woody! We've got quite a nice 1-2 punch in the bullpen. Nice split to what's always a difficult trip out to the West Coast. Go Cubs!
  9. One down....well, it sounded good on the radio since Mother Nature found the need to wipe out my DTV with yet another storm...
  10. Whew....now let's go get an insurance run!
  11. My bad for trying to share a laugh with fellow Cubs fans....
  12. When my favorite player growing up (Bill Buckner) got traded to Beantown, I became a big Red Sox fan and remain so to this day. I was at the Sunday night game when the Sox played the Cubs and it was a giant lovefest with both fan bases generally saying how much we all pull for each other. Now, I realize that success breads angst so some will dislike the BoSox for that, but I'll always pull for two of the classic franchises and hope they never tear down Wrigley or Fenway. Could this be the year both of my favorite teams play each other in October???
  13. I'll give credit to some Sox fans over at WSI who seem to be rational, but then you mix it in with 2 parts idiot and another 2 part pure hatred: http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1917792&posted=1#post1917792 The best highlights: - Our offense is streaky scoring in bunches only to get shutdown at other times....Guess that's what happens when you have the highest scoring team in the bigs. I'll take it! - Marmol is destined to be the next Prior, yet the same guy predicts Pedro and Carpenter will make full recoveries to challenge Z
  14. We had it all the way.....it wasn't pretty, but the good teams win the tough games. GO CUBS!
  15. Well, time to start another winning streak tomorrow...Tip you cap to Mad-dog tonight on a brilliant performance. I didn't think the Cubs could be held to 4 hits anymore. On the bright side, Lilly looked sharp tonight after he settled down.
  16. Yeah, the Cubs haven't come back for a win in what, 24 hours now? Let's go Cubs!
  17. Jimmy is definitely growing on me...Now, let's get some runs! Lilly deserves a W tonight...
  18. As long as the new owner spends like a big-market team that the Cubs are and doesn't screw up Wrigley Field, I don't care who it is.
  19. Fortunately, we have some viable options in the minors in Hart (who's pitching right now), Ascanio, Marshall and Hill.
  20. Howry was up. Good deal. I just hope Lou won't use Marmol tonight. Or Wood for that matter. Would love for those two runs to be in.... I would hope that with a six run lead, we take one of the numerous Cubs fans in attendance to pitch the rest of the way. I actually don't mind staying up when we score this many runs!
  21. Anybody else feel a little bad for Michael Barrett? I will forever be a fan after his sucker punch against AJ Pud, and I'd like to see him do well with the Pads (just not when he's playing against us).
  22. Now that's more like it...lovin' the HR onslaught! Let's keep it going.
