  1. It's never too early to start rooting for the White Sox to lose every game this year!
  2. Monday is my Friday and yes I will be taking off and locked into MLB EI all day :D
  3. I just heard on XM that Cox is probably going to keep Brian Jordan on the roster over some younger guy that hit over 400 in st (forgot his name). Because he looks at his bench and doesn't see any veterans there. He must have a veteran fetish? Or maybe he's going by Jordan's MLB track record and not some stats compiled over 20 st games. Jordans ops over the last 2 years 2005 638 2006 633

  5. I heard Dusty on XM today saying how much he liked Pagan and that if he didn't make the team alot of people would be asking him(Dusty) why. Don't know if Grissom had announced yet but I assumed the handwriting was on the wall at that point.
  6. Is Walker really that patient? His walk rate in 2005 appears to me to be .0722 vs. the 2005 NL average of .0845.
  7. A leadoff single, a steal and a single by the #2 hitter?? Have we done that in this century?
  8. "Sources". Yeah right. Then why wasn't anybody in left field? I'm sorry, but it seems like more than a coincidence that 1) Soriano has openly said that he won't play left field and 2) There was no left fielder and 3) Nick Johnson knew that Soriano was supposed to be in left field. I'm not the sharpest tool in the box, but I know that two and two don't add up to three. Soriano thought he wasn't playing (reinforced by the lineup he saw), got in street cloths and wasn't in the dugout where the new lineup was posted. No one notified him until Johnson called him during the game (during, not before). It not a coincidence. It's either a miscommunication or the Nationals were trying to make Soriano look bad and force his hand. When asked this moring if he was going to play left today Soriano told some ESPN talking head " I don't know I have to call my agent". Sounds to me like he knew he was in the lineup.
  9. Isn't Arroyo another fly ball pitcher in the GAB?
  10. You think Ronny is going to have a bad day
  11. I'm not sure they have been given the ok by the proper authorities - they are just talking on the radio - you can say anything you want on the radio, it doesn't necessarily have to be true.
  12. What do the Cubs fans have to do to get some HONEST people up in the front office. This cloak and dagger crap when it comes to injuries, is simply mindboggling frustrating. Exactly. I bet he's dead - they're just saying he's alive so they can sell more Mark Prior jersies.
  13. Who was the 1% that didn't look the other way? I can't think of even one person that called anyone out on steroid use until very recently. Supposedly in the '70s, lots of players used amphetamines and no one talked about it. Why would steroids be any different? Didn't Reilly ask Sosa to take a test - I'm sure we were all behind him when that happened.
  14. What's he supposed to say?
  15. I'm not defending Bonds either but he beat the system - MLB never tested him positve for anything to my knowledge. Until they do he is a first ballot HOF - just like Cobb you can't keep someone out just because they are a jerk among other less positive things.
  16. Very nice  Look at the sweat stains on the fat boys cap!
  17. Bad news.........................Kruk picks big Z to with the NL Cy Young this year. For those who have forgotten this is the Moran that picked Randy Johnson to win 30 games at this time last year.
  18. This is frustrating, and symptomatic of the Cubs incompetent handling of medical situations. How so? Wood didn't tell them anything until a couple of days ago and then all he said was he had some discomfort. They did an MRI pretty much immediately then talked about what to do. It was a three-day turnaround. I don't see how this is symptomatic of anything. I don't buy the Cubs' story of injury timelines, ever. Great, but your feelings are completely irrelevant to the discussion. How is this situation symptomatic of a problem? Unless you can prove they're lying, they announced this after following the proper steps. I'm not going to rattle off the list of questionable statements regarding Wood and Prior's injuries over the last 2+ years, but there's a track record there of being less that forthcoming about what's actually happening. It's less to do with my opinion about it, and more to do with the fact that they have a bad record when it comes to telling the truth about our pitchers' health, and due to that, this random knee surgery should be questioned. You mean to tell me they are just going to like flip a coin and pick a knee to operate on - no wonder we are all so upset!!
  19. Dusty sends him out for the 4th it will just show that Dusty is in midseason form also :D
  20. If you are in St. Louis check to see which games are blacked out in your area. I live in Iowa and on EI I don't get any Cubs, Cardinals, Twins, Royals or White Sox games - while strangely enough I can get all the Brewers games even though they are probably geographically the closest to me. Having said that I wouldn't be without the package - I work at night most of the time and I love to come home and watch an Angels or A's game after work. I can still get almost all of the Cubs games through Comcast and some White Sox and Cards games also.
  21. I would go with Tex also.
  22. I'm from Iowa - I would report early to Arizona if I could 8)
  23. If I'm not mistaken, and I am not, Stone was the consumate professional and always diplomatic throughout his analyst career, until 2004. suddenly his sarcasm is biting, his tone sharp, and his opinions expressed in manor that does not merely state his opinion, but takes swipes at one organization in particular. the differencec is obvious. It could be one reason why his knowledge is so well-respected, yet nobody is willing to offer him a shot at GM. He definitely likes to hold a grudge----though I do think he got a raw deal from the Cubs. After all, the only thing he did was compliment Oswalt's performance at Wrigley. Why that set the whole organization off I will never know. 2004........the ultimate nightmare season in so many ways. How did Stone get a "raw deal" from the cubs? He turned down an offer by the organization to extend his contract (even though Carey was leaving). He chose to leave and has been bitter ever since. Stone may have chosen to leave, but only because Chip was pushed out the door by the Cubs. Personally, I think the Cubs forced both out. I don't think it's coincidence that the so-called "divisive" broadcasters left along with every other Cub that caused any problem at all in 2004 (Mercker, Alou, Sammy, et al.) Yeah I sure miss the old Chipper.
