  1. At this rate, Morel will be finishing his career with Kerry Von Erich's foot.
  2. Blow this horsefeathers team up (I know it isn't really possible). Let's sell whatever has value and see Caissie, Shaw, and others. The build up to the 2016 Cubs was fun, but this is just miserable and depressing.
  3. Not saying it was an easy play, but if he can get there and get a glove on the ball, that is a catch that should be made. There's no reason to have it simply miss the glove by a few inches, but we have seen that from Seiya on multiple occasions. He should not be a starting right fielder, just like Morel shouldn't be a starting third baseman. Loading a roster with DH's is not a formula for success.
  4. What was that TOOTBLAN doing out there? That guy could have stolen third standing up, but chose to dance around like a little leaguer and get himself picked off.
  5. I know the consensus is that Jed is safe and is playing the exact role that the Ricketts family wants, but there are really no excuses for him. This is absolutely the type of season that gets a GM fired if it continues on its current trajectory.
  6. Yan Gomes is also bad at at least 3 of those things?
  7. Or maybe they'll go 3-6. Regardless of the opponent, I have no confidence whatsoever in being able to predict the Cubs success.
  8. It has to be time to look at alternatives to Gomes. He is toast.
  9. This makes no sense. The Cubs went out of their way to essentially skip Imanaga in the rotation, yet the are willing to let him burn innings in a game that is already out of hand and he doesn't have it. If you're trying to preserve the guy, at least be consistent.
  10. If he ends up hitting .260, he'll be the best hitter in the Cubs lineup.
  11. 3 more K's from Swanson and some really bad looking swings. But hey, he hit the ball once.
  12. Yeah, normally even if a guy knows he is hurt, he is at least going to attempt to finish the play. Megill just walked off and let the ball sit there.
  13. I think pitch count as a tool for preventing arm injuries is probably more meaningful in the aggregate rather than looking at one individual game. I tend to agree that a guy throwing 110 pitches versus 90 for one single start likely doesn't make much difference. You just don't want to do it on a regular basis.
  14. Ok, call me a meatball, but I'm in the "let him keep going" camp. I'm not going to let him throw 120 pitches, but he's not there yet.
  15. After a 2 home run night, we now return you to your regularly scheduled Ian Happ programming.
  16. The reset worked last year. Let's try that again.
  17. Michael Busch will be 27 this year. If he isn't ready, he is never going to be. There is nothing else for him to do in Iowa. He needs to figure his struggles out at the Major League level.
  18. I love watching the annual All-Starter Game.
  19. I predict Option C - None of the above Outside of Horton, there are still no clear impact prospects in the system. The Cubs already took their shot at a big, long term deal, and we got Swanson out of that. I don't think Jed is going to seriously compete for any of the real top tier star free agents (and there aren't many who will be available in the near future to begin with). Jed has also shown an unwillingness, or inability, to turn Minor League depth into significant MLB contributors. We are stuck with this "core" for the next few years, and the hope that somehow a few of the minor league pieces will be able to supplement them enough to produce a mid-level playoff contender.
