  1. Yeah, booing your own players during a playoff game is dumb dumb dumb. I agree completely. I'm as frustrated with Soriano's playoff performance as anyone, but I still realize that he isn't trying to strike out and nothing good can come out of booing him. Trying to send a message in the regular season is one thing, but now isn't the time for that. The playoffs are a time to embrace and root for the Cubs for what they are, accepting their flaws and hoping they can overcome them.
  2. Maybe Stockton has really small feet.
  3. Comcast Sports Net post-game poll - 55.7% of fans believe that we will see "Too emotional Z" tomorrow.
  4. Based on Derek Lowe's post-game comments, I expect him to start Game 4 on short rest if the series goes that far. I was hoping to get a shot at Maddux, but it doesn't appear that will happen.
  5. I don't see any reason to be optimistic about Z. Not saying that nothing good can happen, but there's no real reason to feel happy about it. I'm scared of what we will see from Zambrano tomorrow and I would actually feel most comfortable with Lilly going tomorrow... but let's hope for the best.
  6. I do. I feel like I make an emotional investment in this team that will only be justified when they finally win the World Series. That is the only thing that can validate a season for me.
  7. According to the link from THT Live posted earlier in the day, the Cubs odds of winning the WS drop 67% if they lose game 1, so the odds of them winning the first series must drop by the same amount. The odds were 52% before the loss, so they now drop to about 17%. I'm too tired to figure it out, but I believe there is a problem with your assumption.
  8. I have a headache that wasn't present at the start of the game...
  9. The booing is getting way out of hand. There are times when booing is warranted, but it serves no purpose in Game 1 of a playoff series.
  10. Fukudome didn't play bad tonight. He wasn't the reason the Cubs lost. I agree. He made a nice play in RF and had a hard hit ball to third that I thought should have been ruled a base hit. It wasn't a great game, but he wasn't terrible either.
  11. I was discouraged by Soriano's approach, but I can't really say that I expected anything different. As we saw against Arizona last year, he is completely ineffective against good pitchers who can control their breaking pitches.
  12. Can anyone confirm whether the NLCS lottery winners will be notified tonight or tomorrow night?
  13. Nice job by Marshall. Unfortunately, 3 runs seems like a huge deficit tonight...
  14. 15 minutes and counting... I'm listening to "A Dying Cubs Fan's Last Request" as an intro to Game 1. Let's do this!
  15. Yes. Home broadcast on WGN, national broadcast on ESPN.
  16. Where are you seeing this on the website?
  17. Since the bars won't be selling alcohol after the 7th inning, it will encourage people to pile into the streets where it is much safer.
  18. So what time are we expecting NLCS lottery results? Late tonight the same as last round?
  19. Just keep telling yourself that every Cubs starter will go 7 innings and then hand the ball over to Marmol and Wood. If that happens, we will never even realize that Howry is there.
  20. Huh? 9:30 start in Chicago? Edit: I guess that's 8:30 CST, but still a late local start.
  21. I'm ready for the playoffs and it is only natural to be nervous, but I'm not any more worried about the Dodgers than I would be any other team. Anything can happen, but the Cubs are the better team and should win the series.
  22. Gaudin or Wuertz may come in and walk a couple batters, or they may get the Cubs out of a huge jam. Howry, on the other hand, is almost certain to come in and get hit hard. I would much prefer an pitcher who is inconsistently good over a pitcher who is consistently bad.
  23. In fairness to Nick Swisher, that check swing strike 3 call was absurdly bad. I can't argue that, but I found it comical that Hawk thinks the White Sox should get the best umpires because their game is more important than everyone else's.
  24. The Sox loss was clearly the umpire's fault. The White Sox should be able to hand pick their crew before every series, everyone knows that.
