  1. So then he is only 40% as good. It's math.
  2. Jeter is "passing the torch." You know, kind of like how Isaiah Thomas passed the torch to Michael Jordan.
  3. It would be kind of gross if they ate cereal out of it. It might not be the first time.
  4. Am I wrong to think the Ted Williams MVP award should be his frozen head passed around from year to year like the Stanley Cup? That is how to make the game REALLY count!
  5. You don't seriously think there is a chance he won't win it, do you? I an holding out hope that there are a few reasonable people voting, but I an prepared to concede defeat
  6. If Jeter wins mvp for a single and a double, I hope his car explodes.
  7. Let's get Jeter's rebuttal this inning.
  8. He sure cleared that up. I took his response as "what I said was completely true but i shouldn't have said it."
  9. Good thing it's only an exhibition. Oh wait...
  10. I certainly agree with that, but I don't see how there is any way for the Bulls to sign Gasol and still be in the running for Carmelo. They apparently feel they aren't getting Carmelo and are moving on to Plan B.
  11. I don't want any part of 34 year old Pau, even as a consolation prize. He is a better player than Boozer, but it just feels like the same thing all over again.
  12. I thought that had already been announced. What happened?
  13. This post made me recheck when Rizzo's contract expired. Holy [expletive] is that a good deal! Now make a similar deal with Bryant please.
  14. As expected, 3 Cubs in the Top 10: Rk. Player Pos. Team The Skinny 1 Byron Buxton of Twins Wrist injury has ruined his season, but his long-term potential remains unblemished. 2 Kris Bryant 3b Cubs Power has been just as advertised, while his defense has been better than expected. 3 Carlos Correa ss Astros Broken leg has to heal, but he was ready for Double-A when the injury occurred. 4 Joey Gallo 3b Rangers Gallo’s swing and plate discipline have improved while the power has always played. 5 Addison Russell ss Cubs Missed half the year with a hamstring problem; remains an elite all-around shortstop prospect with his new team 6 Francisco Lindor ss Indians Rare safe and elite prospect as a plus defender who can hit at the top of the order. 7 Javier Baez ss Cubs Long-term potential is still as an elite regular, but he has to moderate his swing-from-the-heels approach. 8 Jon Gray rhp Rockies Hasn’t dominated as much as scouts would like, but has refined his changeup. 9 Miguel Sano 3b Twins Won’t play this season due to Tommy John surgery, so he can commiserate with Buxton. 10 Dylan Bundy rhp Orioles Stuff is bouncing back post-Tommy John surgery, and he should be full speed in 2015. Also notable: 33 Arismendy Alcantara 2b Cubs Hard not to like an athletic middle infielder who can play short in a pinch and has power and speed. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/midseason-top-50-injury-cant-knock-buxton-1/
  15. FWIW - There was a Baseball America writer on The Score this morning who said he has talked to a lot of scouts around baseball who not only believe Kris Bryant can stay at 3B, but that he will actually be a very good defender. That is the first time I have really heard that opinion outside of the Cubs organization and could make things really interesting if indeed Bryant stays at third long term.
  16. I just can't stop thinking that we are finally at a turning point where rebuilding really becomes fun. Enjoy the ride boys!
  17. I think they should just rotate positions after each batter, kind of like middle school volleyball.
  18. Brian Dopirak and Ryan Harvey. Bah. None of these bums are going to be as good as Ty Griffin.
  19. I can already hear Steve Stone saying, "...but who's going to pitch for them?"
  20. It sounds like Mirotic is on his way.
  21. Is there media at these things? Cause otherwise, "Bulls FO member thinks their pitch went really well" doesn't really mean much. I can't believe nobody noticed the guy in the corner wearing the Bobby Valentine mustache glasses.
  22. even if he stays this guy, i'm pretty sure he's under control for almost all of his remaining effectiveness 3 more years, which would take him through his age 31 season.
  23. I never realized that Arrieta is a Boras client. Better get ready to back up the truck in a few years, but at least that would mean that he stayed healthy.
