  1. Kinda where I'm at Yeah, me too. I can't get excited about this deal and, prospects aside, it seems like a lot to pay a guy who isn't substantially better than what the Cubs already have.
  2. Nothing is stopping the Cubs from employing the same strategy to a slightly lesser degree even without a 2nd round pick. Or they could go completely the other direction and sign a full or over-slot in round 1 and go cheap in subsequent rounds. I certainly don't expect or want them to stick to the same strategy in every draft. Losing a second round pick really isn't that big of a deal, especially compared to the first round picks they might have to lose in coming years.
  3. Did he ever actually retire?
  4. I love the announcer talking like the Bears defense could actually stop someone.
  5. That is hilarious. Gould will likely never get an onside kick recovered in his entire Bears career and all it took was one night for Feely.
  6. I think Davey Lopes was a screw-up by Levine. He's still the Dodgers 1B coach. How long before the Dodgers file their tampering complaint?
  7. I was really hoping for a Wood non-tender, but I knew there wasn't much chance of that.
  8. Thibs said there was no re-injury to Rose. Thibs just didn't like the way he looked and "didn't want to take a chance." So the question becomes, why wasn't Rose on the bench in the 2nd half?
  9. Not this year and probably not next year either. Check back in 2016.
  10. So, Rose is hurt again... *Sigh*
  11. Yeah, that's what I'm actually leaning towards; seems like he has a real shot of sliding in to that manager spot there pretty soon. That's what people thought about him in Tampa too. With how many times he has been passed over, or not even a candidate for, managerial jobs, there must be something missing that is preventing him from making that leap. I'm beginning to think that he may just be a bench coach lifer. Is it possible he banged someones wife... I'm sure he wouldn't be the first or last manager to have done that.

  13. Make the call.
  14. They have to "come together, period" Yep, that should fix it. Good plan.
  15. More hard-hitting analysis from David Diehl please.
  16. Let me get this straight. Did the Bears really just decline a penalty rather than take a chance at returning a kick?
  17. That is still implying some wrongdoing by the Cubs. Unless something can be proven, it doesn't seem right to single the Cubs out, especially when that is probably Martinez' best chance for another job. If the Rays have any respect for what Martinez has done for them, and I assume they do, they won't impose any restrictions on his future employment.
  18. I'm not sure what that would accomplish. It doesn't do them any good to keep a disgruntled bench coach around.
  19. Martinez is still technically under contract, but I can't imagine the rays are going to hold him to that after passing him over
  20. Parking garages I know people always mention parking garages, but can that area really handle the increase in gameday traffic that would presumably result from parking garage use? Right now, I would guess that a majority of people park in remote lots, which helps to disperse the traffic. What if a bunch of those people were heading down Clark or Addison instead to get into a parking garage?
  21. My understanding was that the recovery needs to be a continuation of the play and not just an afterthought to pick the ball up because nobody else has.
  22. According to Jesse Rogers, Baseball Tonight will also be broadcasting live from Wrigley on Opening Night. I'm already trying to figure out how we can wrap up our family obligations on Easter Sunday in time to get to the game.
  23. That is awesome. Has the Cubs home opener ever been a night game?
  24. What a fitting headline in the Trib: I read the article and I honestly have no idea what Derrick is trying to say half the time. This quote was particularly enlightening. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/chi-bulls-rose-i-was-just-being-myself-20141113-story.html
  25. Would we have to offer him some sort of "promotion" to get him here since he's under contract in Tampa? Like he'd have to be "President of Bench Operations?" Or can we flat out hire him on for the same position even if he's under contract right now? I think the assumption is that Tampa Bay would let him out of his contract if he doesn't get the managerial job.
