  1. I'm not sure what that would accomplish. It doesn't do them any good to keep a disgruntled bench coach around.
  2. Martinez is still technically under contract, but I can't imagine the rays are going to hold him to that after passing him over
  3. Parking garages I know people always mention parking garages, but can that area really handle the increase in gameday traffic that would presumably result from parking garage use? Right now, I would guess that a majority of people park in remote lots, which helps to disperse the traffic. What if a bunch of those people were heading down Clark or Addison instead to get into a parking garage?
  4. My understanding was that the recovery needs to be a continuation of the play and not just an afterthought to pick the ball up because nobody else has.
  5. According to Jesse Rogers, Baseball Tonight will also be broadcasting live from Wrigley on Opening Night. I'm already trying to figure out how we can wrap up our family obligations on Easter Sunday in time to get to the game.
  6. That is awesome. Has the Cubs home opener ever been a night game?
  7. What a fitting headline in the Trib: I read the article and I honestly have no idea what Derrick is trying to say half the time. This quote was particularly enlightening. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/chi-bulls-rose-i-was-just-being-myself-20141113-story.html
  8. Would we have to offer him some sort of "promotion" to get him here since he's under contract in Tampa? Like he'd have to be "President of Bench Operations?" Or can we flat out hire him on for the same position even if he's under contract right now? I think the assumption is that Tampa Bay would let him out of his contract if he doesn't get the managerial job.
  9. There is probably nothing to the tampering allegations, but statements like this are still scary as hell.
  10. Did anyone catch the false (mainly off-screen) clap by the Chevy guy? I have re-watched it about 5 times now and it gets funnier every time.
  11. doesn't help that they are talking like they are at a funeral In all fairness, Bud Selig has been dead for years.
  12. What an anticlimactic trophy presentation.
  13. 5+ months until more baseball. Time to hibernate...
  14. I want to trade all our hitters for pitchers so we can get someone to do this. No need. Kyle Hendricks.
  15. Not that it really matters, but I'm second guessing myself whether this is even a save situation. Since the starter didn't go 5 innings, would Affeldt get the win and Bumgarner the save? Or would Bumgarner simply get the win? Scorer's discretion. In that case, give him the win and the save.

  17. I wonder what the longest recorded save in World Series history is?
  18. If he sails through the 8th, I think I would send him back out again in the 9th too.
  19. That was painful. Can I unplug my ears now?
  20. Huh? He's been playing. I'm only going off the box score, but he only had 6 minutes before garbage time.
  21. Thibs is never going to play Mirotic, is he?
  22. I heard that comment too and was about to steer my car into a light post if not for the fresh pizza sitting on my passenger seat. If you want to say they are 2-3 years from reaching the peak of their collective performance, I suppose that argument could be made, but 3 years away from even being a playoff competitor is ridiculous.
  23. The way they throw money around, why not have 2 managers?
  24. This has nothing to do with Week 8 specifically, but I'm just curious whether anyone else shares in my rapidly decreasing interest in the NFL. I used to look forward to every Bears game, watch most games on Sunday/Monday nights, and thought it was great when we reached the point in the season when Thursday night football started. Over the past few years I have slowly stopped watching many of those games, to the point where this year I am barely even interested in the Bears and usually just have the game on in the background. I'm trying to figure out what has changed... getting older, getting married, having a kid, I'm sure all those events have contributed to some degree, but more than anything I think I have just become exhausted with the nonstop and over-the-top coverage of NFL. The more the media talks about it and everyone gets wrapped up in their fantasy teams, I find myself backing further and further away. The NFL dominates sports talk more than ever and I find myself listening to sports radio less and less at work because I just get sick of hearing about football. I apparently have the opposite of #FOMOF, whatever that would be. Am I alone in this feeling? Where can I join the support group for people who love sports but are tired of football?
