  1. Like who? Kyle Farnsworth is still available.
  2. Are there fans of other teams that are also stuck in this dilemma? Where they don't get the local broadcast but are still blacked out of Extra Innings and MLB.TV? Have we just been lucky because games have been on WGN my whole life? If you want to go through the effort, you can use a VPN to mask your location and be able to use MLB.TV. I have a Cardinal fan buddy that does that, and I may end up having to go that route as well. I use http://www.unblock-us.com to watch day games at work. it's pretty simple. like 4.95 a month after the free trial. Does that only work for watching on a PC, or can it also be used to mask the location for streaming devices (like a Roku)?
  3. I would assume this is a 1-year agreement and the Cubs will hope for increased ratings this season so they can negotiate a more favorable medium-term deal to bridge the gap until the Comcast deal is up.
  4. A couple notes from Boers & Bernstein. 1. They mentioned that 20 million is being paid up front as a signing bonus, coming from previous years budget savings. That will make Lester's yearly payroll contribution less than the 25 million AAV. 2. They also mentioned that the deal includes a full no trade clause.
  5. If that is the case, which I am all in favor of, then why did the Cubs tender Wood? Does he have any trade value whatsoever?
  6. As if we would have mistaken Montero for a "big bat".
  7. I especially like this... The A's traded Addison Russell and the White Sox won't give up Tim freaking Anderson?
  8. Kinda where I'm at Yeah, me too. I can't get excited about this deal and, prospects aside, it seems like a lot to pay a guy who isn't substantially better than what the Cubs already have. So are you all just completely disregarding all the pitch framing stuff? I'm not buying 100%, but there has to be something to it, even if it's not the gigantic divide the stats make it seem like it is between these two. I'm not completely disregarding it, but I don't put a lot of stock in it either.
  9. Kinda where I'm at Yeah, me too. I can't get excited about this deal and, prospects aside, it seems like a lot to pay a guy who isn't substantially better than what the Cubs already have.
  10. Nothing is stopping the Cubs from employing the same strategy to a slightly lesser degree even without a 2nd round pick. Or they could go completely the other direction and sign a full or over-slot in round 1 and go cheap in subsequent rounds. I certainly don't expect or want them to stick to the same strategy in every draft. Losing a second round pick really isn't that big of a deal, especially compared to the first round picks they might have to lose in coming years.
  11. Did he ever actually retire?
  12. I love the announcer talking like the Bears defense could actually stop someone.
  13. That is hilarious. Gould will likely never get an onside kick recovered in his entire Bears career and all it took was one night for Feely.
  14. I think Davey Lopes was a screw-up by Levine. He's still the Dodgers 1B coach. How long before the Dodgers file their tampering complaint?
  15. I was really hoping for a Wood non-tender, but I knew there wasn't much chance of that.
  16. Thibs said there was no re-injury to Rose. Thibs just didn't like the way he looked and "didn't want to take a chance." So the question becomes, why wasn't Rose on the bench in the 2nd half?
  17. Not this year and probably not next year either. Check back in 2016.
  18. So, Rose is hurt again... *Sigh*
  19. Yeah, that's what I'm actually leaning towards; seems like he has a real shot of sliding in to that manager spot there pretty soon. That's what people thought about him in Tampa too. With how many times he has been passed over, or not even a candidate for, managerial jobs, there must be something missing that is preventing him from making that leap. I'm beginning to think that he may just be a bench coach lifer. Is it possible he banged someones wife... I'm sure he wouldn't be the first or last manager to have done that.
  20. Yeah, that's what I'm actually leaning towards; seems like he has a real shot of sliding in to that manager spot there pretty soon. That's what people thought about him in Tampa too. 21. Make the call.
  22. They have to "come together, period" Yep, that should fix it. Good plan.
  23. More hard-hitting analysis from David Diehl please.
  24. Let me get this straight. Did the Bears really just decline a penalty rather than take a chance at returning a kick?
  25. That is still implying some wrongdoing by the Cubs. Unless something can be proven, it doesn't seem right to single the Cubs out, especially when that is probably Martinez' best chance for another job. If the Rays have any respect for what Martinez has done for them, and I assume they do, they won't impose any restrictions on his future employment.
