  1. Dammit Coomer. "Comes over and cuts that ball off" is not how you describe a caught fly ball.
  2. The Cubs really screwed this one up. The all-star break was 4 days. All they needed to do was wait 1 more day and he would have been fixed!
  3. I just don't get the Heyward drop-off. His OPS is currently 76 points below his career low and 136 points below his career average. Interestingly enough, his batting average and on base percentage are virtually identical to his career low season. The difference is all in slugging percentage.
  4. Montgomery's stuff sure hasn't looked very impressive so far.
  5. I would be interested to see a statistical analysis showing the benefit of a marginally faster runner at second with 2 outs vs. losing potential extra inning at bats from your best hitter. At face value, I never like it, but I don't doubt that it may be the statistically right thing to do.
  6. If Contreras reaches, would you consider pinch-hitting Szczur for Heyward?
  7. Call me crazy, but I wouldn't pitch to Rizzo here.
  8. Nice effort by Abreu there. Fall down and try to let the ball hit me.
  9. Well, if they are giving it to him, and someone walks, it takes away the force at third?
  10. [expletive] Heyward. It is a good thing he runs well.
  11. I saw it posted here and assumed it was true. Oops.
  12. Boras would tell them to take that informal framework and shove it.
  13. Yeah the trickle down effect is Travis Wood, Trevor Cahill and Justin Grimm are now essentially mop up guys. Which is pretty incredible because in the last 16 months or so all 3 have been incredibly effective at various points. That and Matusz, who just a week ago we were looking at as a potential key relief arm, now transitions to starting rotation insurance.
  14. So, Travis Wood goes from 7th/8th inning high leverage lefty reliever to long relief guy? I'm alright with that.
  15. which of cease's 45 innings have been your fav so far Yeah, I'd probably like that fictional trade more than the actual one. I can't say that I would rather have McKinney than Cease. Sure McKinney will be higher on the prospect lists and Cease is a complete wild card, but he is also a rarity in the Cubs system.
