  1. This is going to be an impossible inning with that strike zone.
  2. Base runners not caught stealing? Aka, all of them
  3. I still don't get it, but I didn't see the full play yesterday. What was the call on the field and how did it differ from an appeal? There isn't much to get and its a stupid rule. Before Hammel steps on the mound Zobrist needed to tell the umpire they were appealing. He didn't so the play counted and Smith was called out "incidentally" kind of like being picked off. OK, I give up. My peon brain fails to understand the concept of being out incidentally.
  4. It's a dumb administrative rule. You have to let the umpire know you're appealing for the run to not have been counted. I had this happen in a college game and my manager went ape [expletive]. I still don't get it, but I didn't see the full play yesterday. What was the call on the field and how did it differ from an appeal?
  5. I have no idea what Len is talking about with regard to the appeal at second base. Did that make sense to anyone else?
  6. Was any cash involved or are the Cubs assuming all of Coghlan's remaining $4.8 Million salary?
  7. He had a moment where he was like "Thats a pitch down and in *pause* and Fowler over the top of it" like god damnit ron, tell me the part of how its a strike before you make it sound like a ball I get irrationally angry and yell at the radio in the car when Coomer is spewing his nonsense. I don't think my wife gets it.
  8. They mean 34 year old Maddux It isn't completely crazy to make the comparison to a mid-30's Maddux, and I don't think anyone would be disappointed with that being Hendricks' ceiling. Multiple years of mid-30's Maddux from a cost-controlled player who was essentially a trade throw-in... I'll take it.
  9. What if he had the ability to do that all along, but just couldn't beat the perception that he always gets hit hard the third time through the order?
  10. i've never heard coomer but you guys make it sound like a hilarious experience Not hilarious at all. And seemingly EVERY time I turn on the Cubs radio broadcast, it is the 5th inning.
  11. That was still worse, but this is close, if they don't get rid of Richard, there's a serious mental block somewhere... I don't think they will until they find another lefty I don't think Terry Mulholland is doing much these days and I'm pretty sure he could give us better innings than Richard.
  12. I thought #2 was a double play off the bat, but the first and third were both hit fairly hard.
  13. Well, the Cubs would still have to score at some point.
  14. Clayton Richard has really been in 15 games? I was surprised to see that it was even over 10.
  15. Going back to the Soler at bat, has anyone ever done a study on 3-0 strike calls and whether umpires are statistically more likely to expand their zone?
  16. Hold on a second... Dillon Maples is still alive?
