  1. [expletive] Heyward. It is a good thing he runs well.
  2. I saw it posted here and assumed it was true. Oops.
  3. Boras would tell them to take that informal framework and shove it.
  4. Yeah the trickle down effect is Travis Wood, Trevor Cahill and Justin Grimm are now essentially mop up guys. Which is pretty incredible because in the last 16 months or so all 3 have been incredibly effective at various points. That and Matusz, who just a week ago we were looking at as a potential key relief arm, now transitions to starting rotation insurance.
  5. So, Travis Wood goes from 7th/8th inning high leverage lefty reliever to long relief guy? I'm alright with that.
  6. which of cease's 45 innings have been your fav so far Yeah, I'd probably like that fictional trade more than the actual one. I can't say that I would rather have McKinney than Cease. Sure McKinney will be higher on the prospect lists and Cease is a complete wild card, but he is also a rarity in the Cubs system.
  7. The Score just reported some ESPN guy said the deal includes Adam Warren, Dylan Cease, and Pierce Johnson.
  8. Isn't this going to conflict with his NBA Inside Stuff hosting duties?
  9. What is the pen looking like now? (positions might vary depending on game situation of course) CL - Chapman 8th - Rondon 7th - Strop 6th - Edwards LHRP - Montgomery LHRP - Wood RHRP - Nathan/Grimm 13th pitcher - Grimm/Nathan There is no need to declare Chapman the Closer. It should be purely by situation whether Chapman or Rondon pitches the 9th, and I'm pretty sure that is how Joe will handle it.
  10. I just can't get real excited about a reliever, especially when he costs our #1 prospect. Even if nobody else is available right now, Torres could be a huge component of a deal in the offseason to upgrade the rotation. I would feel better about that than a bullpen arm.
  11. That is the hardest hit ball he has had since... well, I can't remember.
  12. I still am not used to the new slide rule. I am fully expecting double plays to get broken up at second base.
  13. It was only a few months ago that no lead felt insurmountable. Cubs down 6 in the 5th inning... no problem!
  14. I think your definition of "exactly" is somewhat off.
  15. Are lefties hitting .400 off Grimm? That is the only reason I can think of to pull him for Richard here.
  16. Or worse. I was terrified for a moment that Theo had done something like traded him. I'm confident that if Theo had traded him, he would have had good reason to do so.
  17. I don't care what Len says, those white shoes look ridiculous.
  18. How did Richard survive yet another move? Warren at least had some value as a long relief mop up guy. Who fills that role now?
  19. Clayton Richard farewell tour here tonight. Just in case there was any doubt he will be DFA tomorrow.
