These Wood/Smith appearances in the 7th and 8th innings are going to be torture. -
I feel like listening to that last inning on the radio didn't do it justice.

Ugh. How is this a bad thing? We have a 12 game lead and a relief pitcher who's had injuries in the past. We have a manager is concerned with not burning guys' arms out. It has nothing to do with the Carl Edwards part of the quote. I'm just not a fan of Joe Smith. Ultimately, it doesn't matter right now, but I will be disappointed if Smith makes the playoff roster at the expense of a guy like Grimm.

Ugh. They were saying on the score this morning that even though Edwards is going to see higher leverage spots, he isn't going to necessarily see an innings uptick (i.e. back to back days or 4 appearances in 5 days) because they still want to be careful with him since he had some injury problems in the minors. That makes sense. I just don't want Joe Smith having any part of "late innings".

I'm not sure that one is any better than the other? His right knee would be the leg he pushes off with.

This is pretty good news. Assuming 6 weeks from tomorrow, that still leaves a couple weeks to get ready for the playoffs.

The upcoming 4 game series at Wrigley could be the final nail in the coffin. Take 3 out of 4 and then coast to the finish line.

IMO, he's been slipping for a while now. Agreed, but recently I have noticed a lot more missed pitches, incorrect counts, etc. It always seemed like he was really on top of that stuff before. He is still better than most, but nowhere near the announcer he was 5 years ago.

most of the hate has nothing to do with how he pitches and is justified I understand the hate part because he's a douche. But it sure seems like a lot of people also thinks he sucks at pitching. He just isn't good enough at pitching to overcome his douchiness.
