  1. How about we don't let Winkler walk in a few runs here
  2. What are the chances we aren't stuck with this stupid extra innings rule forever? If anything, at least play a few "normal" extra innings before putting the runner on. If the game gets to the 13th, then go ahead and put a runner on if you must, but I still hate that we don't get a chance for marathon extra innings games anymore.
  3. In hindsight, Sogard needed to take the at bat instead of Romine. Lefty or not.
  4. That last half inning really makes you appreciate having a quality defense that doesn't kick the ball all over the diamond.
  5. Wasn't it already down last year?
  6. So much for that bullpen ERA.
  7. Is it time to activate Mark Grace as the hitting coach? Screw that, put him in Left Field.
  8. 2 hits in 2 innings. No way these guys can maintain that torrid pace.
  9. Well, I guess Maples has been ok. They still obviously don't trust him for anything more than mop-up duty though.
  10. Its really pouring salt in the wounds when your pitcher gets touched up early. Im not a fan of this one much.I'm intrigued by the idea, but the drawbacks may be too large to overcome. If a pitcher gets injured in the first inning, now it's a double-whammy because the team loses both their starting pitcher and DH. They could add a provision to exclude for injuries, but that still doesn't help when a pitcher is getting shelled early in the game. If that team loses their DH, they have also lost some of their ability to potentially score runs and get back into the game, which makes for a less exciting game overall.
  11. I'm cool with moving the mound back and restricting shifts.
  12. Damn, I thought that was my idea. I guess Len had it first.
  13. That was a blast. Strop in line for the W!
  14. Add Matt Duffy to the Covid list.
  15. Is it wrong of me to notice something in common between all of the players and coaches on the Cubs who are on the Covid list?
  16. Would they be better currently? Yes. Would they have played better? Also probably yes. Would they all have Covid? Maybe.
  17. Might as well bring him back to the Cubs next year on a cheap deal. If the team is gonna suck, at least do it with guys we like.
  18. One of the broadcasters made the comment that it looked like Javy's swing was predetermined. It has been that way since day one with Javy. It's not just that he swings at bad pitches, but that he is seemingly making the decision whether to swing or not before the pitch has even been thrown.
  19. This team is going to be in for a rude awakening coming out of their early season cupcake schedule under .500
  20. I assumed I had missed a double and forgot about the stupid rule.
  21. Personally, I'm glad it wasn't Chicago. Let's have the All-Star game in a non-pandemic year where there are no restrictions. After 30+ years, I don't want the consolation prize of hosting limited All-Star activities.
  22. As much as I dislike Sogard, he is the type of hitter this team has been missing the past few seasons.
  23. Yeah, I thought it was clear that he had lost it in the 6th and they were lucky to get out of that inning scoreless. Now we have bullpen roulette with runners on base.
