  1. I would be alright with never hearing Tony Romo call a game again. He is insufferable.
  2. Wait, did I just read that the Bulls aren't interested in trading LaVine or DeRozan, but they are entertaining offers for Ayo? What exactly are we doing here?
  3. I certainly hope that isn't the case. At some point, this front office has to be able to get extensions worked out for players not named David Bote.
  4. I have a hard time calling the Hosmer signing terrible, because he costs nothing. I don't like that he is blocking Mervis, but I can't get too upset about it. With such a minor financial commitment, either Hosmer is ok/good and ends up being a good value, maybe even a trade chip, or he's bad and gets released if Mervis continues to destroy AAA pitching. For all we know, Hosmer could look awful in Spring Training and not even make it to Opening Day. With a minimum deal, he isn't guaranteed anything.
  5. Couldn’t he DH too? Who is the current DH, Madrigal? The current norm is a 13 man pitching staff, which means a 4 man bench including backup C. If your 1B and DH are basically locked to the bottom of the defensive spectrum, you probably aren't too likely to put another guy like that on the bench. Mancini has played corner OF, but the metrics are not kind to his performance(one silver lining, it's basically limited range instead of a bunch of errors). I still don't see a fit for Madrigal on this roster. He is too limited on defense to be a bench player, and there is no other place for him in the starting lineup except DH. Someone has to DH, but I would prefer it not to be 2-strike punchy ground ball hitter guy.
  6. It basically guarantees Mervis will start the season in AAA. If Hosmer is terrible, which is fairly likely, hopefully the Cubs won't hesitate to send him packing. I guess this could buy Mervis an extra year of team control, but I don't think that should be a priority for a guy who is already going to be 25 in April.
  7. Yeah, that sucks. I was looking forward to seeing what Mervis could do in Chicago. I'm also not high on either Hosmer or Mancini.
  8. The Cubs have been touting their "Top 5 farm system" at Cubs Convention. I get that Cubs Convention is mostly over-hyped propaganda, but is there anyone who has them ranked anywhere close to 5?
  9. Maybe it's just because they have so often been bad, but I have never disliked the Lions like the Packers or Vikings. I wish they could have got in the playoffs this year.
  10. I love that the Lions are going all out here to win this game. The Packers getting knocked out of the playoffs by a team with nothing to play for is just great.
  11. On the other hand, if Poles is still high on Claypool and believes this year was an aberration, this could be an opportunity to lock him up behind 2023 at a reasonable price.
  12. I realize this is extremely unlikely and unwise but, hypothetically speaking, what if Poles really wanted to draft his own QB at #1? What would Fields' trade value be?
  13. Just what I said. #1 pick or bust!
  14. The #1 pick was always highly unlikely. All things considered, this team ending up at #2 is pretty incredible with as many games they could/should have won.
  15. Ugh. Interception Bears.
  16. The Bears are god awful. No worries. I can't help it. I don't trust the Vikings to not do something stupid.
  17. Followed by a Bears TD.
  18. Vikings pulling some starters. They should still win the game easily, but I can't say I'm not at least a little bit nervous.
  19. What the hell were the Vikings doing?
  20. Now THAT is a tank pass.
  21. Cue the Nathan Peterman 4 TD performance, spoiling the Bears draft pick and leading into an offseason QB controversy.
  22. Had to pay for Brad Wieck's minor league contact somehow.
  23. Never once when I was playing, but absolutely once I had a son. I highly encouraged him to play every sport except football. He tried flag football when he was like 8 or 9 and said it wasn't for him, and I was perfectly fine with that. I never found the risk for serious injury or death to be worrisome when my daughter was playing softball or volleyball or when he played baseball. When I played sports, including football, I never once considered the possibility of a catastrophic injury. I could comprehend the possibility for a broken bone or other orthopedic injury, but nothing beyond that was ever on my mind. Looking back at it now, and especially as a parent/coach, sports look more like a minefield of possible serious outcomes. Even baseball, which never concerned me one bit while playing, has the ever-present risk of one line drive or errant pitch changing someone's life forever.
