Is Twitter (or X) still a thing? There was a short time when it was a great place to follow sports updates, but I gave up on that mess years ago. I don't even know where people go to get updates anymore, so I just rely on things being reposted here. -
I'm sure someone will come in with the advanced metrics that show Happ has actually not been terrible... but Happ has been terrible.

We can read things into guys being in or out of the lineup but, especially with position players, anyone could be part of a trade at anytime. Unless a deal is imminent, there's no real necessity to hold a minor league infielder or outfielder out of a game.

Everything is a revenue issue. The Dodgers can make this trade because: (a) They are confident they will be able to sign Skubal to a long term deal in the offseason - and - (b) Even if they don't, they will have money to throw around at whatever next best option(s) is out there Surely there are many teams who could have beaten this offer if they wanted to, but the risk/reward of a high-value rental is more favorable for the Dodgers than for other teams.

The Dodgers situation isn't the players' fault either, but it is going to leave them facing a significant uphill battle in the court of public opinion during CBA negotiations. All the owners have to say is, "Look at the Dodgers, We must have a salary cap for the good of the sport.". Obviously that isn't telling the whole story, but it's a simple argument that a large majority of fans will agree with.

And again, this certainly doesn't help the prospects for a full season of baseball next year. The Dodgers aren't doing anything wrong, but they are maximizing every single advantage they have and it is nowhere near a level playing field.

Why not? In hindsight, sure, but he was still pitching better than anyone they were going to bring in from the pen.

Two starters is just silly. In an ideal world, sure, but this isn't an ideal world. They need one very good starter. No more depth pitchers.
