  1. I wish my job was just to make horsefeathers up until someone told me the answer.
  2. Obviously Shohei is the big, exciting prize, but I would be more than happy with Yamamoto plus a significant bat. Yamamoto + Soto would be amazing, but also probably unrealistic.
  3. The whole concept of the winter meetings seems like a relic of the past anyway, as if every GM isn't immediately accessible to every other GM at any time regardless of where they are physically located. It sounds more like an excuse for everyone to get together and drink.
  4. That or Blue from Old School. Or a combination of the two.
  5. I have seen it suggested that contracts would likely include an opt out after 2025, which would likely follow a full season of Ohtani back on the mound. I'm not sure that opt out is really as attractive as it looks though. If teams are already in the neighborhood of $50M AAV over the life of the contract, how much room is there really for that to increase when Ohtani is entering his age 31/32 season in 2026?
  6. The slow-developing offseason is the new normal for baseball.
  7. Pretty much. Facing that lineup is already painful enough.
  8. Gotcha. But I'm still not entirely confident in beating out New England. I can squint and see 2 or 3 possible wins on Carolina's remaining schedule, but the same can't be said for New England.
  9. Do we know who would hold the tiebreaker between Carolina and New England if they end up with the same amount of wins?
  10. I don't think negotiations work like that.
  11. Oakland. If we're going to lose out on Ohtani, let's bring on the chaos of him signing with a lame duck franchise that doesn't even know where they are going to play their home games. We all know they have plenty room under the tax threshold!
  12. It's easy to say that, but if it comes down to money, there can only be one highest bidder. Both the Dodgers and Cubs can approach negotiations with the intent that "we aren't going to be outbid," but at least one of them is going to be outbid.
  13. I don't care about this one way or another and I think Dawson is probably the only person it really matters to. It would be nice for the Hall of Fame to consider his wishes, but I suspect this is a can of worms they really don't want to open.
  14. I honestly don't know much about Glasgow but, based on what I've seen written about him over the past few days, is he the 2023 version of Rich Harden?
  15. I watched a bit of the high school playoffs last weekend and you aren't kidding. There are teams that literally don't throw the ball once the entire game. Every single play is a hand off or QB run... and it works.
  16. Do the Cardinals think they know something about this year's FA market? I don't love any of their deals on paper, but maybe they identified an opportunity to strike early while many of the big players are waiting on the larger dominoes to fall. I'm not convinced that it will work in their favor, but if somehow they find themselves in contention next year, their early FA activity could play a big part. Obviously there is still a lot of off-season to play out, but it will be interesting to see how their moves grade out over time.
  17. Clock is probably more on the Bears side at this point. All they have to do is get in FG range.
  18. Bears still gonna win this one, but that's irrelevant.
  19. Shake hands, thank him for the tank and trade, then bring in a top caliber GM who is drooling at the opportunity to make two Top 5 picks.
  20. Serious question: If Bagent was playing QB for either of these teams tonight, how much would they be winning by?
  21. Is this the best QB the Vikings have on their roster?
  22. There's your 9. But right now it feels like a huge leap to say this Vikings offense is capable of scoring a TD.
  23. Dobbs is terrible.
  24. If any network puts the Bears in primetime next season, shame on them.
  25. Way to celebrate a Pass Interference.
