Yeah, I have softened my stance on him since he left. I still think he is overrated as a manager, and his moves with the Cubs were often infuriating, but it is hard to argue with his cumulative results. He had a long, successful career and is a no doubt Hall of Famer. He also seems like a guy who would be really interesting to sit and have a baseball conversation with, and that's something I wouldn't have said 15 years ago.

I can't believe they pulled Javier there. Sure, you don't want the game to get completely out of hand in the first inning, but now they need 8 2/3 innings from the pen. I would think their chances would have been better hoping Javier could get things together and get them into at least the 4th or 5th.

Yeah, I get the people who might say "Bagent isn't really doing anything." That is somewhat true. But the offense is actually working. So why not just run this offense with Fields? Because Fields can't run this type of offense. -

In basically half the plate appearances as the guys above him. Manny is within reach, but Altuve could be tough to catch.

Absolutely, yes. And that is great news. Bring him back for 2-3 years at a much lower AAV.

As much as I hate the Astros, that win felt justified. That was a stupid ejection.

My not-so-expert analysis after having seen all of 2 series of Bagent. He may actually be a better QB than Fields, but he's a sitting duck behind this offensive line (and the inconsistent snaps don't help either). Fields' ability to scramble might be a necessity to have any chance at success with this line.

I agree. I don't really like a division winner having to play in the Wild Card round, but I don't think we're ever going back. Leagues never decrease the number of playoff teams. It only goes up. I thought I would like the 3 game series as opposed to the one-and-done, but after seeing the new format in action I think we have lost a lot of excitement from the one-and-done but also from the regular season tiebreaker scenarios.

Yet another round where not a single series goes the distance, and now another 2 day gap without any games. These playoffs have really sucked.
