  1. Ummm.... what?????
  2. Watching the game, tonight I learned that Chip Carey has twin sons who are a minor league broadcast team.
  3. Velus Jones has the wisdom of an owl, the voice of a songbird, the grace of a swan, and the eye of an eagle.
  4. He just doesn't have the arm strength to get the ball into those tight spots.
  5. Damn. That throw was there to Moore, but Bagent didn't get it there quite quickly enough.
  6. I don't think he is good, but I think he has shown enough to indicate he can be a passable backup QB. If a team needs to start their backup for several games, they are probably screwed anyway. I'm fine hanging on to Bagent as the backup to whoever is the long term answer.
  7. If your play design puts the QB in that situation, it's probably not a good pay.
  8. It's crazy to think that not even 2 years ago, many of the Cubs/Sox storylines were centered around their star shortstops - Baez and Anderson. Now they are both 30, both bad, and both gone.
  9. 3 errors??? Yikes. I haven't actually watched him play in the AFL, but are we talking "yips" bad, "normal" bad, or "not as bad as it looks on the stat sheet"?
  10. Maybe also The Heckler for a limited selection of apparel, if they still have a web store? I have no idea if they are actually local though. I have no idea on memorabilia. I can't even remember the last time I walked into an actual brick and mortar memorabilia shop. Maybe 20 years ago.
  11. I guess it could be worse. He could be Dalen Terry.
  12. Outside of the ALCS/NLCS round, the playoffs have been a real dud. Game 1 of the World Series was great, but since then the games have been largely non-competitive. Paul Sullivan has an article in the Tribune today about diminishing ratings. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ct-world-series-texas-rangers-arizona-diamondbacks-20231101-d6pbfqolvjd7bhm6ljphxjwdc4-story.html A big part of it is obviously the match-up and lack of star power, but how do you actually fix that? Regular season ratings were up across MLB, so that lends credence to the idea that maybe this is an outlier due to the teams involved, but it is clear that the World Series and the MLB playoffs in general simply aren't the event they once were. My Uber driver a couple weeks ago asked me, "Did you watch the game last night?" I initially assumed he was referring to the previous night's NL playoff game, but it turns out he was talking about Thursday Night football on Amazon Prime. What drastic overreaction will Manfred spearhead as a solution to increase future postseason ratings?
  13. I just don't get it... The Bears take perhaps their only asset - draft capital - and completely squander it on an expiring contract? Does Poles think his job is in jeopardy if he doesn't make the playoffs? What other motivation could there be to make this move?
  14. Wait, why are the Bears trading a high draft pick for a guy in the last year of his deal? Please explain how a 2-6 rebuilding team is in any position to make this sort of a move?
  15. I really tried, but after a few games I found the Blackhawks to be a boring ass team as well. Watching opposing teams control the puck the entire game isn't very exciting.
  16. I didn't watch the Michigan St. game, but I did watch Kansas vs. Illinois and the teams played it largely as a real game (not what you would typically think of as a scrimmage). While the Illinois win doesn't mean anything officially, what it tells me is they can absolutely compete with anyone in college basketball right now. Whether they can play with consistency and actually improve over the course of the season is yet to be seen.
  17. Hit Mooney in the hands and it turned into an interception. But he had one coming anyway.
  18. That was my question really. Is there any precedent for a guy making a substantial leap in strength/mechanics after being in the league?
  19. So what are the chances the Bears could put Bagent on a strength training program in the off-season and get him to at least adequate arm strength? From what I have seen, I think that's really the only thing holding him back (but it's holding him back A LOT).
  20. The QB discussion is moot when the defense is this bad. It just doesn't matter.
  21. Outside of the one bad interception, Bagent has been really good so far.
