  1. Absolutely not. If the Cubs aren't going to be willing to spend on a top of rotation starter (and there are no indications they will ever be willing to pay a #1 starter in free agency), then they need to hit on a guy like Horton from their own system. He is the most untouchable guy they have right now.
  2. Absolutely. I like Fields and will be rooting for him wherever he ends up. The Bears trading him outside the division will make that much easier to do.
  3. Arizona is currently slotted into the #2 pick and I really don't see them winning another game. If they want to give up 3 or more 1st rounders to move up one slot, you take that offer every time.
  4. I'm fairly certain there is no possible scenario where Carolina catches Arizona in SOS. According to the tankathon site, Carolina is currently at .522 and Arizona is at .564. I know SOS can shift quite a bit from week to week, but that is simply too big a gap with only 2 weeks remaining.
  5. Holy horsefeathers, I didn't see that coming the way that 4th quarter was going. Just need 1 more loss by Carolina now.
  6. Just when it looked like New England had the game under control, Denver scores 2 TD's and 2 2-point conversions in the 4th quarter to tie the game.
  7. I don't see any way the Bears lose this game, but they would be much better off losing out. Another win is going to be a big drop in draft position.
  8. Wow, that was a close call. Come on Patriots - Find a way to beat the Broncos tonight and give us some breathing room.
  9. Dansby, Suzuki, Happ, Hoerner? As far as cores go, that one leaves a lot to be desired.
  10. Oh by the way, the Dodgers have been able to do all this while maintaining a Top 10 farm system.
  11. Maybe the best thing is for the Dodgers to win so this argument goes away. I'm tired of seeing the Cubs and others use this as a justification for not spending. Buying good players doesn't guarantee anything, and the field will always be favored over any individual team, but that doesn't mean teams shouldn't try to boost their odds of winning.
  12. Don't forget to add the $50 Million posting fee on top of that.
  13. You do realize that one of the big reasons the Dodgers have been able to go on this spending spree is that they HAVEN'T overpaid the Patrick Wisdom types, right? They had the right combination of money to spend, payroll flexibility, and ownership commitment, along with a very attractive situation both competitively and geographically. Yes, it is true that the Dodgers have many advantages over other teams. The Cubs have some of those same advantages, but simply choose not to utilize them. I'm not opposed to the concept of a salary cap, but it wouldn't address all the disparities and we all know it is never going to happen anyway.
  14. Do we really know that Yamamoto would be the best player on the Cubs? It is way too early to make that assumption.
  15. Or else what? They will just find ways to go out and get other guys.
  16. How does everyone plan on using their extra minute now?
  17. Well, I'm all for more day games...
  18. My favorite question from last year's panel was from the old lady who asked for more day games because she is too old to attend the night games.
  19. I just came here to post this. I have been experiencing very slow load times recently across multiple devices. It can take several seconds after clicking on a thread link before the thread actually opens.
  20. Does anyone else use PointsBet? I rarely deposit money and place actual bets through any gambling app, but I would frequently sign into PointsBet for the $1 or $2 bonus bet and hope to hit a longshot parlay. For the past several weeks, I'm not getting bonus bets anymore. When I sign into the app, it says that a bonus bet will be available at x time, but when I come back at that time it isn't there. Did they finally cut me off for leeching off the free bonus bets?
  21. The guys on the FOX half time show suggested the same, that the interception could be adjusted after the fact.
  22. If you want to really look at the schedule pessimistically, the Panthers could go 2-1 in their remaining games (with the most likely wins coming against Green Bay and Tampa), and the Patriots, Cardinals, and Commanders could all lose out. That would result in a tie for #3 between the Panthers and Commanders, and right now the Commanders hold a slight SOS advantage. In other words, it is still conceivable the Panthers pick could fall to #4, although it is much more likely to be 1 or 2.
  23. SOS between the Panthers and Patriots is basically a coin flip right now, .521 for Carolina versus .523 for New England. Hopefully the Packers come out desperate next week and beat the Panthers and then hopefully Jacksonville takes care of business. Tampa worries me a bit in the last week, not knowing whether or not they will still be in the hunt for a playoff spot. We really need the Patriots to run into one more win and the Broncos certainly look beatable next week.
  24. We have no reason to believe that is the case either.
  25. I would obviously love to have #1 overall, but I'm not entirely sold on Williams being a better NFL QB than Maye, so I wouldn't be incredibly upset if the Panthers pick falls to #2. Now if it somehow drops to 3, that's an absolute disaster.
