I don't think this is the way the Bears will or should go, but is it possible they:
- Stick with Eberflus for next year
- Stick with Fields for next year and give him one more chance with some more weapons
- Trade down from the #1 pick for more assets including more picks this year and at least another 1st next year.
All this with the understanding that, if the Bears aren't good again next year, they will be picking fairly high in the draft again, plus they will likely have another high pick from whatever team they traded with. So, if the team flops again next season, you can clean the coaching slate completely and use the multiple 1st round picks as ammunition to go up and grab a QB going into the 2025 season.
I don't love that idea, and I think we have seen enough of Fields to suggest it is time to move on, but I guess it really comes down to what they think of Caleb Williams. If they aren't completely sold on him, and still have SOME level of confidence that Fields can improve, is it completely crazy to try this one more time with some additional improvements on offense and kick the can down the road on a QB decision?
