  1. I have such vivid memories of that game. I can picture exactly where I was sitting and how I was feeling, going from utter disappointment and resignation to complete shock and excitement in the span of a few minutes. Whenever I watch that game, I always get to the point where I think, "How did they actually win this???"
  2. I was at the finals in St. Louis. Such a disappointing night. Illinois was the better team, but things just didn't go their way that game. We checked out of our hotel after the game and drove all the way back to Chicago in the middle of the night.
  3. It certainly is. Iowa St. will be tough, but that one is a toss-up at worst. After that, UConn would be extremely tough, and I don't see anyone else in the bracket who is capable of knocking them off.
  4. Good for Northwestern. Now go knock off UConn.
  5. 42... 42 points. This is embarrassing, for both Virginia and the selection committee.
  6. Dont forget the #4 seed Auburn, who is ranked 7th overall in the latest AP poll and 4th in Kenpom. By either AP or Kenpom, there are four Top 10 teams in the East bracket.
  7. I haven't watched any of the recent games, but it looks like Ayo has been absolutely killing it for the Bulls. 23 points and 10 assists tonight. What a steal. Not only getting him in the second round, but then locking him up for 3 more years on a VERY team friendly contract.
  8. I mean, sure, we know the Ricketts family can afford it. But also, let's not pretend like adding $31M over the luxury tax is nothing. It's only one or two years, but factor in the tax and the Cubs would probably be paying him close to $50M a year (and I don't think Snell is worth that).
  9. That's a high AAV for Snell, but likely not a great deal for him. He gets a large guarantee for 1-2 years, but he needs to continue performing at a very high level to earn another big contract after this one. Boras lost this one even moreso than the Bellinger deal.
  10. None of it makes any sense really. You have a team in Iowa St. That most experts had as a borderline #1 seed, if not a 1, and they get put in the same region as the #1 overall seed?
  11. I have no idea how that is possible.
  12. Meh. They aren't scary. Sure, they could beat Illinois, but they shouldn't.
  13. That might have been the game of the year. What a spectacular effort by both teams.
  14. It is going to be quite a stunner when the Bears bypass Caleb Williams to draft MHJ, declaring Tyson Bagent their new franchise QB.
  15. I don't think there's any shot at a 2. They needed to beat Purdue last week to have a realistic chance at that.
  16. He missed some good looks. There weren't a lot of bad forced shots that I recall. Illinois just got a bit lucky that he wasn't on his game today, and that Rienk Mast came back to reality after his hot start.
  17. I didn't expect to get a lot for Fields, but a 6th round pick, and not even this year... that is surprising. But hopefully Fields plays quite a bit for Pittsburgh and plays well. I want him to succeed, and having the pick upgraded to a 4th would be a nice bonus.
  18. Tominaga is really fun to watch. That first half tonight against Indiana was unbelievable. You can't let that guy get a shot off from anywhere.
  19. That seems like a good get for DePaul, in that he is probably the best of their bad options.
  20. Please keep Juwan, always and forever. Signed - Illini fans
  21. I haven't heard anything about the results yet, but an MRI of the shoulder certainly isn't a good sign. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/cubs-caleb-kilian-undergoes-mri-on-shoulder/
  22. I would say there probably is an explanation for those "50/50" balls so often going to the opponents. I don't think it is a question of effort, but it could be related to positioning. Maybe all the switching on defense leads to guys being out of position and crashing to the boards when the shot goes up, leaving players on the opposing team open for those loose ball opportunities. If it seems like the other team is always in the right place at the right time, there could very well be a reason for that.
  23. He had one of his worst performances of the year for sure. His outside shot is really off and on though. He will hit some shots and then throw up some absolute bricks. The difference in this game was he just wasn't able to get to the basket. The announcers touched on it, but he wasn't able to get his usual fast break opportunities.
  24. The Cubs have about 8 better SP options, so there is no reason for Smyly to even be in consideration for a spot. It's bullpen or nothing for him. I'm fine giving him a shot as the lefty bullpen guy, but hopefully he has a short leash.
  25. During spring training, absolutely. There is nothing to be learned by watching Ian Happ or Patrick Wisdom take exhibition at bats, but it is fun to watch the lesser known quantities to see how they perform against Major League caliber pitching.
